Diner Reviews
  • "We read a few reviews that had concerns about the service. Our waiter was Garrett, he was exceptional, had great drink and food suggestions, helped with special requests and made our experience memorable. We will be recommending this place to friends and going back soon"

  • "Just found "The Bulldog" about two weeks ago. What a great place to have a meal which rates at the top of my dining scale. I have returned (3) times and every meal was great. Ambience is very cozy and service is very attentive. Don't miss a chance to try out this find."

  • "Enjoyed the brunch which included oj or mimosa. All entrees same price which the steak and eggs is probably best value but we tried the seafood omelette and chicken mushroom crepe. Crepe skin was just ok- it was crunchy! But the filling was delicious. The menu said beignets included but we didn't get any and was never told so either. I don't know if we'd go back because of that but it's a nice little town and quiet place for a nice brunch"

  • "This was our first visit to the French Bulldog. We went based on previous reviews. Good service from our waiter. Main course came out a little to soon after having a salad. Need to pay a little more attention to timing. The food and presentation was excellent. Will go back again."

  • "Found this place through Open Table and have added it to our "Go To" places list for brunch and dinner. Great food, service and atmosphere."

  • "The Sunday brunch was an outstanding experience. We enjoyed the excellent choice of beautifully prepared breakfast dishes. The staff was very attentive and welcoming, and made sure we were well taken care of throughout. The spirit of hospitality was especially demonstrated by the generosity in keeping us fully stocked with adult beverages and the outstanding house-made beignets. We happily relaxed and enjoyed our meal here, two hours of pure enjoyment. Highly recommend the French Bulldog, and we're looking forward to future visits."

  • "At the recommendation of a friend, we tried the French Bulldog, The ambience is delightful, chic and cozy, we sat on their sofa benches in the dinning room. It is a vibrant energetic scene in here, which makes it fun. The escargot we orderd was just perfect. Our friends ordered the nightly special rack of lamb and chilean sea bass, they were both mouth watering....I had the parmesan eggplant which is the best I have ever had, my husband the filet mignon the sauce on top was to die for. Overall one of the best experiences and our server was so nice accomodating and helpful suggesting some of the signature martinis. Cant wait to go back for another celebration. This is our new favorite spot in the area and we will be visitng often."

  • "I took my fforeign coworker for dinner on a Tuesday night. When we arrived at around 7:15 p.m., a male staff member told us the dining ares as closed. I told them that I had a reservation and they accommodated us. I ordered the boef bourgignon and was excited about it, as the waiter said it was excellent, only to find out that there wasn't any left. I felt like whomever welcomed (or didn't welcome) us when we came in was a little rude. However, our waiter, James, was wonderful and really made the experience far nicer than it would have been. He actually offered us a dessert on him, but they were out of that, too! Great waiter, good food, not the most welcoming place in town but would try again on, say, a Friday or Saturday night."

  • "Took my wife and daughter for our 8 year wedding anniversary. Food was wonderful, I had the lobster risotto , would defiantly order again. Service was fast and friendly, wasn't very loud, able to have conversation around the table without yelling. Will return"

  • "This restaurant tops anything out there in Ventura county. I have not had a single item on the menu that I did not thoroughly enjoy! The food is phenomenal. They have A great happy hour but you must eat at the bar to get the happy hour prices."

  • "Camarillo should be honored to have such a place. I think Camarillo is in the dark when it comes to good dinning, but the F.B shows us the light. Everything was perfect. ."

  • "Took the kids for a late evening dinner and were pleasantly surprised it was not crowded. The ambience was terrific and the decor pleasing. The menu was limited in size, but there were many different kinds of food. The bar area looked like a lot of fun. We would definitely come back with or without the kids."

  • "It is so nice to have a good restaurant in Ventura county. Everything I have eaten here has been wonderful! Their filet mignon is always cooked perfectly! On our most recent visit, I tried the rack of lamb. It was superb. Great job, Bulldog!"

  • "As visitors to the area, we turned to Open Table for a review of area restaurants. The French Bulldog reviews peaked our interest and we thoroughly enjoyed our dining experience. Our waiter was so helpful and fun and at the conclusion of the evening we met the owner/chef which was a delightful surprise. The French Bulldog is a gem and the menu offers creative and delicious food in a relaxed and charming atmosphere. We enjoyed the sliders (a must-have!), the beet salad which was yummy in addition to the way it was presented; the beef as an entree was a good choice and the flourless chocolate cake was a perfect finish!"

  • "After tasting two watery cocktails, dinner arrived. The rack of lamb and lobster risotto were excellent. Service by Serge was prompt and courteous. Major issue to us is that while in the nicely appointed dinning area you are facing three large tv screens. One with wrestling, one with football and the third with basketball. Now this is 7pm and when trying to enjoy a nice meal we felt more like we were sitting in a sports bar. Owners need to decide if they are operating a restaurant worthy of the food or a sports bar with burgers and fries."

  • "What a nice find! This time was better than the last. The food or art was outstanding! My guests were very pleased from the steaks, the mushroom to even the tofu steak. Mark this one in you books when you are Thousand Oaks or Camarillo."

  • "This is the second time I've eaten at The French Bulldog. I love the food! It was a bit busy and noisy since there was a HUGE party next to us. I think that the Waitress was overwhelmed as well. She came up as we were waiting for the bill and said our food will be right out! We laughed."

  • "The food is terrific. At three visits, at least one or more of the menu items were not available at 7pm. And one or more of the specialty cocktails were not available, at each visit. It was too cold inside at each visit."

  • "Sports bar or fine restaurant? The FB doesn't know either. Mighty high prices on what looks to be haute cuisine (we left before ordering any) yet two big screen TVs in the bar. Staff seemed very unhappy and thus not conducive to positive digestion."
    Dined on 11/2/2013
  • "Despite making our reservation well in advance the only table available for our party of 6 was a booth that was way too small for 6 adults. However, the food was great as usual and the staff tried very hard to make us comfortable. My enthusiasm for the restaurant has only dimmed a little."

  • "Good ambience except it can get rather noisy, depending upon the activity in the bar area. Food is excellent and fairly priced & service is always very good. Have not had a bad meal yet. One of Camarillo's best choices."
    Dined on 10/25/2013
  • "The food was good and the waitress kept the drinks flowing at brunch. The service was slow and the beignets were not offered (I had to ask for them) and they came out cold and very greasy. The lobster eggs benedict was excellent. I'd like to go back on a another day and try the regular menu."

  • "Very good food, good service, reasonable prices for level of food you are getting, comfortable atmosphere. Who could ask for more?"

  • "Chef Gael does a great job. Beet salad is one of our favorites anywhere. Portions are very generous. Everything meticulously prepared."
    Dined on 10/5/2013
  • "Food was good, but the restaurant is very noisy, even when it isn't busy, the big screens and bar area are open into the dining area with only a thin curtain separating them. The pricing is good for the quality of the food. Not a place to go to for a relaxed dinner with conversation. Great happy hour menu and atmosphere, appears that is who this restaurant really caters to more so than a dinner crowd."
