A word from The Fourth
The Fourth is Chef Marco A. Moreira's newest venture. Anchoring Union Square with the East Village this multifunctional expansive restaurant features a comfortable coffee bar and café, a traditional dining room, and a long stylish bar perfect for drinks and dining. Artistic features such as a photo installation, whimsically hung wood twin bed frames, local handcrafted furniture, and eco-friendly lighting are highlights in the lofty room. The American style brasserie menu features locally sourced ingredients. Super fresh oysters, roast duck for two and salt brick roasted chicken not to be missed. Accompanying it is an approachable wine list compiled by master sommelier Roger Dagorn and the owners own brand of coffee, Quatrieme. The Fourth is quickly becoming the go to place for a neighborhood breakfast, weekend Jazz brunch events, bar dining and lunch and dinner celebrations. We look forward to seeing you at THE FOURTH!

  • "I ate here tonight with my girlfriend and we loved EVERY aspect of the experience at The Fourth. As a fisherman, I've eaten tuna freshly caught, but their Tuna Tartare was so delicious...the best I've ever had. We sent our compliments to the chef who sent us back a bow, and our wonderful waiter told us that the Yellowfin was brought in to the restaurant whole (not filet'd) early this morning. The Sweet Corn Soup was perfectly done, with just a touch of Jalapeño for taste, not spice. My girlfriend almost died over her Hamburger and I ate the most amazing lamb chops. The manager was extremely kind and accommodating, and the maitre d' was fantastic as well. We loved our waiter, Juan, who was both funny and attentive. I'd go here again!"

  • "I ordered crispy baby artichokes for a starter, followed by some sort of little pasta "pillows" filled with ricotta cheese, and covered in a delicate white sauce with a hint of lemon tartness. Those were delicious! For dessert, I had a strawberry tart with rhubarb ice cream. The strawberries were perfectly ripe, and I enjoyed the ice cream; the tart shell was ... meh. Maybe a shortbread (or similar) cookie would have been better? My only TINY criticism was service-related. Within a few minutes of sitting down, I ordered a cocktail. Three different people came up to me in the next 10-15 minutes, and asked if I wanted a drink! So there seemed to be a bit of confusion. Once I received my drink (a bit late), service thereafter was excellent!"

  • "This was our first time at this restaurant. We ate very early, by NY standards, so the restaurant had very few patrons. Being around Union Square, we imagine they do a bustling business later in the evening. The wait staff was attentive. The food was very good. There was a problem with my entree which they whisked away immediately and brought me a new meal. We are planning to return to this restaurant."

  • "This restaurant truly understands hospitality. Service is smooth and graceful without the "hovering". Worth going to just for the rolls. Excellent food and plenty of choices. They are uber accomodating, especially if someone has an allergy. We've become regulars and many of our friends are willing to travel downtown."

  • "The food at The Fourth was delicious! The cheddar grits were smooth and creamy, the bacon was cooked perfectly and the deviled eggs were amazing! We ate brunch on this visit, but I would definitely go back to try dinner! The only downfall was that they were unable to seat us outside. There were only 3 of us and the restaurant wasn't crowded at all, but they only had seating for parties of 2 available outside. We at least sat by an open door. The service as a bit odd, but nothing that would deter me from visiting again. The manager seemed to be a lingerer, we were never sure if he was done talking or had more to say. Our waiter spoke very softly and with a bit of a mumble, so it was often hard to understand him. But otherwise, it was great!"

  • "Upon entering you can plainly see money has been spent to create a space divided into "hard" and "soft spaces. Industrial meets barn and all overseen by a huge "sculpture" , a hanging of blond wood beds held together by blonde wood chains which looks like a ferris wheel run a muck. The dinning area is a "soft space" with red walls and hung with many photographs of waiters and waitresses from around the world, a rather nice touch.The eating area was quiet. Staff was amazing almost too attentive , There was a mistake in the order size which was rectified quickly and politely. The food was very well prepared but nothing you could not get at other nearby restaurants. Yet it is worth a try if you want to try a new spot near Union Square."

The crispy brussel sprouts are outstanding (Hurrah for duck fat). The bartender makes solid classic and new cocktails. The restaurant was more full than prior visits - a good sign and well deserved."

  • "After such wonderful food/atmosphere, it was disappointing how rushed and unwelcome we felt - and that made a lasting impression unfortunately. We're local and thought we'd found a new great place. But we left feeling pretty demoralized. Maybe I'm old-fashioned, but I think that's a flawed business model. If you prepare a special menu and you charge premium prices, and I made the effort to choose to reserve a spot with you for a romantic brunch on Easter, don't hover over my table and ask if I'm "done picking" after 45 mins. Maybe consider offering me a second drink when you see my empty glass. Offer me coffee and dessert before giving me a bill. Wouldn't you at least want to increase the bill by offering more? I would've paid. "

  • "My Boyfriend and I had brunch here and loved everything. They have live jazz playing and it really creates nice atmosphere. The food was fantastic, perfectly sized portions, we left happy and not feeling extremely full. The food was nice and fresh, mimosas and bloody marys were included with the price of the brunch entree. I had baked eggs and my boyfriend had BELT sandwich and it was delicious. We also got complimentary pastry and it was fresh and amazing. Our server Valeriya was excellent. Really welcoming, she knew the menu really well, in fact, she recommended us what to go and we didn't regret at all. Mark, the manager, was also very friendly and helpful. Overall, amazing experience, we would love to come back for dinner one day."

  • "I've been to The Fourth several times and while I have always enjoyed it, the food and service are even better than they were a few months ago. The menu has been changed for the better. The spaghetti, chicken and Arctic char are my favorite dishes . I also love the beet appetizer . The flour less chocolate cake is a stNdout for not being too sweet. It is perfect. The service is warm and attentive. I lunched at The Fourth yesterday at 2:00 pm and was surprised to see all the tables taken and busy until almost 4 pm. I highly recommend this great addition to the Union Square neighborhood."

  • "our new favorite, we go all hours of day breakfast , lunch dinner and brunch, during week and weekends , we love their bar sometimes we go just for a drink but end up for dinner ,some of their dishes we can't live without, best bacon ,french toast in town, we've had steak was awesome, chicken, raw yellow tail,, love pastas too! it's more casual than other restaurants thew operate, but just as good and more approachable, (also better value than the others! i hope they don't get to busy, we love to just stop in when we fill like it!"

  • "I made some last minute reservations for Saturday Brunch as I had a friend in town and have been meaning to try this place. What a pleasant surprise! I came in around 12 before the rush, nice crowd without being "over-crowded." I had the Crunchy Brioche French Toast, which was absolutely perfect. My friend had the fourth burger which came with a sunny side up egg and pickled veggies...he said it was one of the best burgers he has ever eaten! The service was very good as well, waiter and manager were attentive and the front desk girls were welcoming and kind enough to charge my phone after I complained I was running on Empty! Overall, a very good dining experience and I will be back, but next time on Sunday when they have their Jazz Brunch."

  • "This place has potential but needs an experienced manager and staff. Everyone was well meaning but lacked finesse and training. The food at lunch is adequate. The $29.00 Butchers Cut Steak was a nameless smallish piece of sliced steak. I thought the fancy potato side was deep fried in stale oil but the waiter disagreed. The grilled romaine added a charred interesting texture. The vegetable(?) side was weird tasting finely chopped marinated something. My husbands burger was quite good and had very pickled veggies. Expressos are only served as doubles---strange. Very tiny martini which the Captain insisted was a 3 oz. pour. It was also 14.00. We live nearby and will try again------but"
