Beloved by locals and a must-see destination for anyone who enjoys celebrity sightings, the Four Seasons is the restaurant New York Magazine named the "city's greatest dining room."

Whether you're lunching poolside and enjoying the restaurant's deal-of-the-decade $59 prix fixe or looking for a delicious dinner destination that the New York Times raved "virtually defines American cooking," the Four Seasons offers something for every wallet.

An only-in-Manhattan icon that Zagat 2013 called "a calm oasis in throbbing Manhattan," the Four Seasons serves New American dishes, inspired by local fishermen and farmers.

Came for a business lunch with a client and specifically picked the place because of the great reviews I read. The service was mediocre at best, very slow, and the waiter did not listen when my client try to ask a question right after placing the order, simply walked away, and then it took a while until anyone noticed us. Food was also nothing great, considering that we spent over $200 on lunch for two people, we expected something more special, and it was just blah... At the end, we both agreed we were not coming back here, despite the nice setting and the ambiance created by the pool in the middle of the room...

We came here whilst on holiday in new York. Having visited Michelin star restaurants aplenty in the UK, I have to say this is up there with the best, at half the price. The food was beautiful as you would expect, as are the surroundings. What made the experience for us though was the service. From the moment we arrived until we left we were treated like royalty. The gentlemen on the bookings table were so friendly. We changed the booking about 3 times with little notice and they were so cool about it. They were also very relaxed with the dress code- inviting us in even when in our jeans and walking shoes! When we finally made it to eat our waiter was fantastic. Id like to write more but have ran out of space!

I have never wanted to write a review for the restaurant I visit as for me to do so the restauratant has to be exceptional (good is easy and not worth a mention) and exceptional is defined by me when you walk out and remember your meal and services hours later. The Four Seasons delivered all that and more

I have had a history with the Four Seasons; mainly the Grill Room, but a number of times in the Pool Room (even got fired from my job at Seagram's in the Pool Room many years ago!!). My last time (about 18 months ago) it was all a little off. This time an excellent experience. The pasta starter was perfectly al dente and the bolognese type sauce had just the right consistency and heat. The sole was super fresh. THe service was perfect, but not stilted! Next time I won't think twice about returning as I did this time.

For a special occasion, you can't get more special than The Four Seasons Pool Room. We committed a small fortune but it was an experience we'll never forget and worth every penny. The huge room has a strange retro feel to it and although some might suggest that the decor needs updating, you just know it would be a travesty if they did. Impeccable old-school service which was welcoming and swift but in no way rushed. The food was delicious but we should have left more room for desert which was the star of the show. Can't wait to return.

Hoping this iconic restaurant's lease is renewed. The fabled Pool Room is an architectural masterpiece. The beauty of its space stands way above the rest. Splendid service compliments and enhances this handsome & quiet room. We did not drink so have no comment. We chose the $75 pre-theater prix fixe. I ordered the beets & goat cheese appetizer. She ordered the proscuitto . Both were excellent choices. I ordered the roast duck while she had the quail. They brought the entire roasted duck & gave me half. I think most would be very pleased with the well cooked breast. I happen to prefer a none fatty type bird that is served medium rare. The quail was fine. The chocolate souffle was marvelous. Will dine there again on a special occasion.

Perfection does not come cheap. Our modest dinner (we split a duck, had wine and dessert) came to $350 -- but for that we had a delicious dinner beautifully served by waiters who know how to serve. They were masterful. Really, the dinner was expensive (as I knew it would be) but it was perhaps worth it.

Haven't been there in quite a while and was previously there for dinner, only. This was disappointing lunch. Disapointed ed in everything. Waitstaff was stuffy and sloppy (dropping a knife before we ordered). Meal was nothing more than adequate. Not even a flower on the table. They get away with it because they're an institution that has clearly stood the test of time. For my vote, they're not keeping up with the times.

I had the pleasure of dining at this great restaurant with my wife and daughter. The ambience can be described as classic, and the service thoughtful, engaged and unpretentious. Our dinner was delicious and both the quality and preparation of the food was superb. This establishment writes the textbook on how to deliver a fine dining experience that is fun. Mr. Julian Niccolini magnifies the dining experience with an artful and energetic personality that makes dining at The Four Seasons a culinary treat, and a whole lot of fun.

If you can afford to spring for a 5 star gustatory experience The Four Seasons Pool Room is for you. The service is attentive but not overbearing. The food is imaginative and beautiful but something you actually enjoy eating and enough of it. They refill the bread no questions asked. The atmosphere is lively but quiet enough for a romantic conversation with the people at your table and lovely to look at. In short, if you can afford the not insignificant price-tag it's pretty hard to beat.

I've always loved the pool room at the Four Seasons. And the food was delicious. The service was really really off, though. Our main waiter picked up on it and did remedy it somewhat as the meal progressed. But pouring wine before cocktails are over. And when I returned to my seat, my first course was sitting on the table, the waiter having left it and run. That should NEVER happen. Even at a diner, much less a restaurant like this. Felt very rushed at the beginning, but, as I said, the waiter did bring it back. Still, a disappointment for the overall experience.

Lunch at the Four Seasons Pool Room last Friday- Oct 17th- was perfect. The room , after all these years, is elegant and contemporary. The four of us celebrated my birthday and all of us enjoyed our food selections. The pool lunch at $59 for a three-course lunch is a great deal, especially with appetizers like great local oysters. The only surprise was a $50 charge for a kir royale cocktail-- a little pricey. Service was fine and there was no rush to get us through the lunch. Still highly recommended restaurant--- and still beautiful design.

I have been coming to four Seasons for over 35 years and as long as they have the Lear I will return. The staff are all tenured and experience which makes service superb. This trip though, was a letdown for two out of three that dined that night. The issue was the dried age steak entree which was not seasoned well, dry and flavorless.

Classic power lunch in NYC. You never know who you might see. The foood and overall atmosphere remain strong, but they are in need of a refurbishment. The carpets are worn and the overall ambience is stepping back in time (and not necessarily in a good way). However, service is top notch. The food is consistently good. The Pool set lunch is good value for this sort of venue. Recommend the crab cakes, Asian inspired dishes and the desserts.

My law firm and I just moved in next door on Lexington Avenue and we treated ourselves to lunch at the Four Seasons. Each time I've been, I am always amazed (but never surprised) how wonderful the experience is - from the minute you walk in and have a cocktail at the bar, to being seated, to enjoying the menu, to ending the experience with an after meal coffee or cocktail. It is truly a timeless quintessential New York experience. Please let it always be so.

I was very impressed to discover Four Seasons' chef uses very modern cooking technique and Asian ingredient in his french dishes. The image of an old legendary place was completely removed from me and my guests. All items we tried were very light. Roasted (and smoked!) hairoom carrot salad was very light and tasty with a right amount of yogurt sauce. Their sea urchin pasta was the best I ever had in the town. You taste sea urchin and enjoy the creaminess while it is prepared without any cream or butter, very impressive.
