A word from The Four Seasons Restaurant – The Pool Room
"One bite is enough to make you moan"
- The New York Times

Beloved by locals and a must-see destination for anyone who enjoys celebrity sightings, the Four Seasons is the restaurant New York Magazine named the "city's greatest dining room."

Whether you're lunching poolside and enjoying the restaurant's deal-of-the-decade $59 prix fixe or looking for a delicious dinner destination that the New York Times raved "virtually defines American cooking," the Four Seasons offers something for every wallet.

An only-in-Manhattan icon that Zagat 2013 called "a calm oasis in throbbing Manhattan," the Four Seasons serves New American dishes, inspired by local fishermen and farmers.

Still our favorite NYC restaurant after 40 years. There is no more stunning sense of arrival in the restaurant world than walking by the Picasso mural into the Pool Room. The food and service were outstanding as usual.

The Four Seasons has long been one of my favorite NYC restaurants. Consistently good meals with great service. On my niece's first visit, The Four Seasons didn't disappoint. The staff took special care of her, especially Giuseppe, who was one of the best servers I have had EVER. Not only will I be returning, but I will be sure to see Giuseppe again.

My wife and I spent the first evening of our three-day trip to New York City at Four Seasons. As the three days came to an end, we wish we would have saved Four Seasons for last. Every meal afterward could not live up to the richness of flavor, impeccable service, and romantic ambiance of Four Seasons. The filet mignon, was so tender and full of flavor. It was lightly topped with a rich pesto sauce, and drenched in a savory beef broth. The potato-chive puree and crabmeat-stuffed zucchini were exquisite accompaniments, full of flavor and delightfulness. The roasted cod, was surprisingly more delectable than other cod we have eaten, and the corn-jicama salsa, razor clam vinaigrette that topped it helped bring out the full flavor of the cod.

We came here on an Monday night in late August with our 2 college aged kids to celebrate our daughter's birthday. We arrived at 6:15 and left at 7:45 to get to our show. They have a $75 pre-theater menu which was great. Not surprising the pool room was almost empty when we arrived but by the time we left it was half full. It is such a wonderful, timeless space. Service is friendly and top notch here. Very professional. The food, very good. The cotton candy birthday cake is worth the price of admission. As an added bonus we got to pose in front of the Picasso tapestry before they reportedly removed it later that week.

There is no setting in NY or anywhere quite like that of the 4 Seasons. And the service is first rate if a bit stiff. Food not up to the rest of it though. The red snapper special was dry and anything but special.

This is our fourth visit to the Four Seasons. Each time we have been very pleased with the food and ambience. The Pool Room is gorgeous and the food is to die for! Both the crispy duck and filet mignon were out of this world. We had a very attentive and pleasant waiter. Get the price fixe menu. It's pricey but a good deal for what you get.

We had reservations at 9:30 for dinner following a 7 o'clock show. We arrived at 9:15 and they seated us right away. That was wonderful. However, as we finished our dinner, i.e. dessert and finishing our wine, apparently we were the last 2 guests there. And the staff of 6-8 guys began to prepare the rest of the tables for the next day. Lots of plates clanking, silverware clanking, shaking out table cloths. It was very distracting, and quite annoying. Probably won't be back. It wasn't the same wonderful experience I had a few years back. Although the food was very tasty!

Every time I return to Four Seasons it is a pleasure. The food is excellent and the staff are friendly. The Pool Room is an architectural gem as well. This visit I had the soft-shelled crabs and they were delicious. They have in my opinion the best gazpacho soup in NYC. If I lived in NYC I would come here every week. My favorite midtown restaurant. Formal and friendly - the best combination.

This was my second visit to the Four Seasons' Pool Room. Our waiter was a bit fresh to us in the beginning, possibly because we were the only young, Asian females who were dining in the whole restaurant, but he became friendlier as the night moved on. The food was of course spectacular. Nothing to complain there. Other than the fact that this place is filled with (95% of the restaurant) old white WASPs, it's a great dining experience. If that bothers you, then this is not a venue for you.

We last dined at the Four Seasons many years ago and had a wonderful experience. Unfortunately, our attempt to revisit the past was disappointing. The decor is dated, stark and has a somewhat industrial feel to it. The corridor leading from the Maitre d's station to the Pool Room requires diners to walk past unused tables and benches that made me wonder if this once grand restaurant had fallen on hard times. While the food was adequate, the service was indifferent and disorganized. The servers confused our entres, we were served an incorrect side dish that was eventually replaced after a long wait, and our wine was poured almost as an after thought. Most disappointing, especially considering the $$$$ price.

An excellent choice across the board for a romantic evening, a celebration or lunch or dinner before the theatre. There are some "named restaurants" that rely on that name rather than the food served, not at the Four Seasons, the food is top rate with a chef willing to go the extra mile, the wait staff a cut above and every customer made to feel welcome.

This was our second time celebrating an anniversary in the Pool Room at the Four Seasons. If you are looking for a fabulous dinner, being tended to by an attentive and very friendly staff all while in one of the most legendary restaurants in Manhattan, then the Four Seasons is for you. It never disappoints. I have not one negative thing to say about it. It is still one of the best. The Wagyu Tataki was like butter. I also had a soft shell crab special that was wonderful. The chocolate soufflé is to die for. The staff was also kind enough to bring out celebratory giant ball of cotton candy with a candle and two complimentary glasses of champagne for our anniversary. A very classy touch.

The setting impressive on arrival. Shimmering chains at the windows but these look a bit untidy on close inspection as they reach the floor. "Welcomed" by rather snooty waiter who did not say hello, but queried our booking with a hushed telephone call. After allowing us in, we were shown to a table with a great view across the room. Diners were mostly 50+ and the few children there seemed bored and out of place. Not child friendly. Food was good. Difficult wine list, many American wines unknown to us. Little recommendation forthcoming. Disappointing choice in the end which we didn't finish. Waiting staff appeared tired by 10pm and the smiles all but disappeared. For the considerable cost, I would not recommend this restaurant.

This place you to be my go to spot for a special occasion lunch. You can get dressed up and expect a certain level of food and service. Unfortunately our server was not too attentive as we have had in the past and the food was not as good either. When you are spending $65 for soft shell crab it should be excellent and not mediocre. Then same goes for Dover Sole. Our server never even asked if we wanted any coffee or dessert. What has happened to my precious spot. Please get you act together!
