A word from The Four Seasons Restaurant – The Pool Room
"One bite is enough to make you moan"
- The New York Times

Beloved by locals and a must-see destination for anyone who enjoys celebrity sightings, the Four Seasons is the restaurant New York Magazine named the "city's greatest dining room."

Whether you're lunching poolside and enjoying the restaurant's deal-of-the-decade $59 prix fixe or looking for a delicious dinner destination that the New York Times raved "virtually defines American cooking," the Four Seasons offers something for every wallet.

An only-in-Manhattan icon that Zagat 2013 called "a calm oasis in throbbing Manhattan," the Four Seasons serves New American dishes, inspired by local fishermen and farmers.

  • "The Four Seasons, a known staple in NYC, is very expensive and would ruin anyone's wallet. The food is good, but nothing special. Even with gift certificates won in a charity auction, the bill was off the wall."

  • "Have gotten into the habit of going for pre-theater dinner at The Four Seasons during every trip up to NYC. Why? Because this surely is the best restaurant in Manhattan, assuming you appreciate the finest food, service and ambiance. Nothing anywhere else in the US or elsewhere is better than this luxurious and historic restaurant. Always have nice conversations with service people and manager who, over time, we have gotten to know. The Pool Room is the greatest, relaxing, visibly terrific setting."

  • "I remember visiting here once with my family before I was of legal drinking age. Some five decades later I was searching for a restaurant near my hotel for a Friday lunch and couldn't resist the chance to revisit this iconic location. I'm glad I did. The service was gracious and warm. The food was very good. The decor is attractive and relaxing. I had white asparagus which brought back memories of April/May in Heidelberg, Germany. Soft-shelled crab was a special that day and they accommodated me with a smaller portion. I enjoyed a glass of Sancerre Sauvignon Blanc with the seafood. You may not be a millionaire but dining here you can feel and be treated as if you were. I may have to include this restaurant on my future trips."

  • "and also for a calming, charming dinner. In the middle of Manhattan madness, one can feel soothed, well cared for, and enjoy amazing food and service. I'll certainly be back."

  • "This is truly one to NYc's Iconic Restaurants. The food and the service are top of the line. A must try is the Four Seasons Steak Tartare and the Crab Cakes. The Tartare is prepared at your table to order. Choose a table by the pool. And theres a good chance of seeing someone famous having dinner."

  • "Have eaten at the Four Seasons 9 or 10 times but not in the last 10 years. Everything seemed a little dated and old fashion. I think it need a complete redoing???"
    Dined on 3/29/2014
  • "Maybe it was the quiet, empty Saturday evening, but there was no pizzaz with the food or service. So not worth the price even for pretheater. Prosciutto and asparagus was so-so, but at least the nettle risotto made the snapper memorable. Desserts like one sees standard these days. Why have salt and pepper in little bowls? Bread was good, and the Newtown Chardonnay. Not much else to say."

  • "The Four Seasons is always a nice place to celebrate a special occasssion. Of course it's a bit pricy, and the portions are not very large, but the service and ambiance are second to none. Whenever I take my girlfriend here she feels like a princess. I'll be back again."

  • "Still going strong with the same luxurious but comfortable dining room surrounding a beautiful pool. The food was excellent and the service professional but not obsequious. the soft shell crabs and the asparagus soup were excellent and the duck skin was perfectly crispy. the chocolate dessert with ganache and icecream was decadent and not too sweet. I still find this a wonderful restaurant for a special occasion."

  • "Went here to celebrate Valentine's Day and was delighted with the choice. They really went overboard to create a special (if costly) experience that was beautifully served--a much more creative menu than on previous visits. The ambiance is exquisite, the quiet soothing. Whether it's a special occasion or not, ask for the cotton candy at the meal's end."

  • "I hosted a business/social dinner and the experience was outstanding. From the moment you walk into the restaurant the staff is very professional and welcoming. I especially enjoyed the steak tartar. Highly recommend and it can be shared. The Dover Sole and Alaskan Halibut was a favorite. Highly recommend the Four Seasons Restaurant for your next trip to the big Apple."

  • "It was my first time at the four season, It was my boyfriend's 50th birthday. We love the experience so much that we will be visiting again. The food was great so was the wine I had the duck he had the crab cake and for dessert I had the chocolate sufflet. Being that it is a Restaurant where people with black American express are the regular and this is not my case the staff still gave me the royal treatment. We had a blast!"

  • "The only reason my family ate there was that it was a place my mother had always wanted to eat at, but until this year we had managed to steer her milestone birthday dinners to Le Bernadin, or Jean Georges. At least we know she'll never want to go back. Service was horrible - at a restaurant of its purported level of standard, the staff knew nothing about proper service. They were constantly reaching across people to remove plates, serving the wrong entrees to people, and even managed to serve another table's coffee to our table and then asking, "is it ok for us to leave it here?" Food was average -- nothing modern or innovative -- and definitely not worth any mitigating points. No reason to ever go back."

  • "it was a dinner to remember. My husband and I went to celebrate the upcoming birth or our second child (one last night out). it was worth it. great overall experience. at times the service was slow but our waiter was great just handling a lot of tables at once."

  • "Been to Four Seasons many times and have enjoyed the dining experience. Our visit on the 14th was extremely disappointing. The food had no flavor (seared tuna) and the service was rushed and prices are ridiculously high for the quality of the food. Management has the attitude that everyone is a tourist and you have no plans to return."

  • "This place never misses a beat. It's timeless, with great food and perfect service. And sitting by the pool always makes me feel like a celebrity. The Grill room power lunchers can have it, but give me the pool room at lunch!"

  • "This was such a romantic evening for our first year anniversary. The servers were attentive, they anticipated our needs before we even said them, the food was excellent, the wine was great and the service was extraordinary. Definitely a must do with your significant other or a group of great friends."

  • "New York landmark. Food is very expensive but acceptably executed. Service varies: can be ingratiating or irritating at any given time. Beautiful room makes up for many of these faults. Quite a few large groups, particularly on Fridays and Saturdays."

  • "This is a great restaurant and they always make you feel special. The Dover Sole is fabulous! My guests had never been there before and the finishing touch was the cotton candy! So sweet. I go back everytime I am in NYC."

  • "This was my second time at the Four Seasons. The first visit was during the week and the restaurant did not disappoint, this time we took our grown children for a celebration on a Saturday night and it was very disappointing. My youngest daughter who is studying Hospitality management in college was the most stunned at the medicore service and the waiters attitude considering where we were. Servers did not know who had what dishes and put the wrong plates down, it was as if we were in a busy pub, which would have been fine if the prices were commensurate. I feel bad saying this if the Four Seasons gets through their landlord issues and stays open. It still will be a long time before I return"

  • "This was our second dinner at thr Four Seasons. Everything was good again....the food..the ambience..the service. We will definitely return each time we visit NYC. My only critique is the table they gave us. I will not accept the table for two stuck on the corner."

  • "I must say that I was a little hesitant to experience the four Seasons. I had not gone in many years. After a difficult week at work I felt transported to another world where all was extraordinary. Delicious food prepared and presented in the most elegant fashion. Attention to detail from the beginning to the end. I highly recommend this wonderful restaurant. Bravo!!!!"

  • "Great food and service! A bit pricey great for a special occasion. We did the lunch in the pool room, great ambiance - a little smaller than I expected. I had the lamb barley soup as an appetizer which was delicious, followed by the Filet of Branzino with roasted cauliflower caponata again delicious. For dessert I had the chocolate soufflé another success! They actually bring the soufflé and the chocolate sauce and wiped cream on the side. Service was impeccable!"

  • "The Grill Room may be the best place when we power lunch but the Pool Room is our favorite for a special occasion, birthday dinner, or elegant night out. Love to sit in the banquettes side by side with my husband facing the pool......watching the chain mesh curtains shimmer in the light. formal but not stuffy -- especially when they bring pink cotton candy!"

  • "I visit theFour Seasons Restaurant about once a year for a special occasion, and this time around everything came together for a wonderful evening. Our party of four consisted of myself, my wife, my 6 year od daughter and my business partner. We received VIP treatment from the minute we walked in. Our captain was very friendly and helpful with suggestions, and everyone we met was great. The food was incredible. The service perfect. With the way things change over time, it's nice to see that their standards in food and service are stil top notch after 50+ years!"

    Dined on 2/20/2014
  • "We had expectations of a nice meal on Valentine's evening in the "pool room". We had a pre-fix menu at $195 per person and with wine and tip, the bill was well over $500 for two people. The food was awful and the courses made no sense in terms of connecting with each. This was undoubtedly one of the worse meals we have ever been served in NYC. The staff were unfriendly from the door man to the waiters. The room was cold, drafty and had absolutely no ambience. This is just an office building conference room with a water fountain type pool in the middle. We were highly disappointed with the Four Seasons and would never return. Recommend that you skip this place, save your money and go elsewhere. There are numerous other places in NYC."

  • "My husband and I went to the Four Seasons Pool Room on Valentine's Day for the prix-fixe lunch. Though not inexpensive by any means, it was still a sublime deal and well worth the visit. The service was impeccable and gracious, and we were thrilled to receive a complimentary dessert of cotton candy with ice cream within, as a holiday gift. The portions were excellent and the flavors, to die for! We had a marvelous time and would happily return."

  • "This was our first dining experience here. Our wait staff was very attentive and professional, anticipating all our needs. This very large, high ceiling space was elegantly decorated (LOVED the cascading chain curtain effect), and remarkably quiet (music-free= asset) which made table conversation comfortable. Hint: to fully appreciate the viewing pool, obtain a table surrounding it, rather than a table on the room's periphery. The Crispy Oysters' sauce was both flavorful and complex; my husband loved his Grilled Branzino; my Filet Mignon chimichurri was consistently prepared, tender, buttery; and the Chocolate Souffle was decadent. In addition to the aforementioned, a recommendation to friends would include a caveat about excessive pricing."

  • "The prix fixe lunch isn't a giveaway, but makes the cost of lunch acceptable for a special occasion. The food was excellent, beautifully presented and the service was highly professional in the best sense."

  • "Still a treasure to be enjoyed by neighbors and citizens of the world. I think the menu needs a breath of fresh life and wish they would let the culinary team at teh Museum of Modern Art Dining Room visit and innovate. Combining the food and presentation of the Modern with the service and ambiance of the The Four Seasons would be a real triumph."

  • "From the moment you enter this restaurant until the moment you leave you are treated royally. The priced fixed pre-theater dinner is such an incredible deal! The duck is my favorite and I haven't been able to order any other entre because it is so very good. Others I have been with have tried other dishes and they also raved about their entrees."
