A word from The Fountain Lounge
The new Fountain Lounge at The Roosevelt New Orleans brings a touch of new-world sophistication, while offering subtle nods to the timeless elements of the hotel. Opened in 1938 under the direction of then-hotel owner Seymour Weiss, the Fountain Lounge was a place where the hip, sociable and fashionable met to enjoy cocktails and small plates in an atmosphere described as “casual and carefree as a night in Paris.”

Featuring rich wood flooring, luxurious fabrics and high-end finishes, the new Fountain Lounge balances its glamorous tradition with modern touches. The lounge will feature live entertainment with a focus on inventive cocktails and small plates, in keeping with its storied history. The new Fountain Lounge will set itself apart by offering a full raw bar serving a massive array of the freshest oysters and shellfish from the Gulf coast and also a sampling of the best raw seafood from around the world.

Really enjoyed the food. The carrot cake presentation was different but very good. The Friday night duo was an unepxected surprise. The guitarist and the singer especially were quite talented and the delivery was entertaining.

I assume that when I go to breakfast in the restaurant of a decent hotel that the service will be efficient and the food will be reasonably decent. The Fountain Lounge didn't meet either of those criteria. Breakfast took well over an hour, a problem since we had somewhere to be. Usually, one is met by someone with a coffeepot. Here it took well over 10 minutes for someone to stop by the table. She had amuse bouches of beignets, which was a nice touch, but no coffeepot. Each succeeding step also took longer than it should have. My oatmeal was tepid. My husband's fritata was just adequate. The kids liked the Belgian waffles.

Went for dinner with a friend and ordered a little bit of everything. The service was superb. Our server, Carlos, was attentive, funny and well-versed in the entire menu. The fried chickpeas were a fun starter. We also had many of the smaller versions of the entrées. The scallops were divine-light but still filling. We also had the bone marrow, one of my favorite items to order. It is offered with lobster but I have a tragic shellfish allergy. Chef Mark Majorie actually came to our table to assure me they could prepare it without lobster! The greatest part of the meal was the charcuterie board. All meats are cured on property. I am usually not meat board fan, but one week later it's still all I talk about! Best guanciale I ever tried!

Found this place last minute during a recent trip to New Orleans. I was a little suspect that there were so many available reservation times for a party of 8, but the reviews were mostly good. Well, we found out. The service was literally the WORST I've ever had. I had to get up from our table during our 2 HOUR dining experience TWICE to find our waiter. Ever after speaking with the manager, the service did not improve even a little bit. We even had to get up to retrieve out bottle of wine from the chiller because he clearly was never going to refill our glasses. Even thought the food was great, I will never go back and would not recommend it.

Although located in the previous fine dining area that was the Sazerac Restaurant in the past, this is a bar/lounge that serves high priced but relatively good food. We went thinking it was more of a restaurant so were disappointed with a loud, overly lubricated group there that started whistling to people passing in the hall way and then ordered a pizza from outside the restaurant that they ate while drinking. Go to Domenica if you want more of a restaurant but its is very loud as well.

This was my second time at the fountain lounge. The first time it was very nice with the music playing and the food was pretty good. For new years there's was a fixed menu and no music. At 79$ a person I'm glad they let my date and I share a meal. Not only were the portions small and not hot, but the food was horrible. I would have thought for a special occasion set menu, the food would have been top notch. The meal choices were good.... but the chef really messed up. I live in the neighborhood and not sure if I will return.

Fountain Lounge is nice, however very over priced. It's an old tradition going to the Roosevelt for Christmas. Went on a date there. Ordered the charbroiled Oysters which were amazing. Then split the Ahi Tuna small plate and Burger both were delicious. We ordered about 3 Martini's each, the bill came an it's was $120. Expensive night. I just feel I could have gone somewhere else and for that price got way more for our money. It will probably be a once in a life time experience.

The Fountain Lounge is a gem and you MUST go! The staff was knowledgeable & friendly! They made us feel extremely valued. It was a nice touch that the manager & chef stopped by our table. We started with the cheese plate & cocktails followed by small plates (they do offer full sized entrées). I recommend the small plates! We shared ahi tuna, pork belly, & the rabbit tenderloin. We enjoyed raw & bienville oysters. I'm a texture person and was nervous to try these delicacies, but my fella insisted. I'm glad I did! DELISH! If you have texture issues, I recommend the bienville, but both are tasty! The small plates are all superb! You can't go wrong with any of them, but if I had to pick 1 get the pork belly! I recommend visiting! Much to offer!

My girlfriends and I went to the Fountain Lounge after hearing they did a multi-million dollar renovation. We wanted to see the results and boy were we pleasantly surprised! The lounge was very inviting, good music, open to the lobby so we could people watch, and the bar was fantastic. They have glasses of wine from bottles that we could never afford, a raw bar, and cute bartenders. We had wonderful service and the food was beyond what I expected. We ordered several appetizers and some entrees. They were all delicious! I highly recommended going to the Fountain Lounge before going out in the FQ or even going to watch the Saints game (they have a hidden t.v.). It was a lovely dining experience and my friends and will be going back a lot.

The Fountain Lounge is the newest addtion to the New Orleans hotel dining scene and its definitely here to stay. No expense was spared in the decor and table setting. The live entertainment rivals any music venue in town. The service was 5 star with a sommelier who has hand picked classic and contemporary wines to fill out a comprehensive wine list. The young chef has done the same with the menu employing modern techniques with classic New Orleans fare. Each dish was thoughtfully prepared with attention to fresh and quality ingredients. The raw bar reminded me of those in Paris with a beautiful presentation of shellfish. The beautiful bar offered an extended menu of hand crafted cocktails. Overall impression, outstanding!

My husband and I came for a pre-theatre dinner before a show at the Saenger and were very impressed. The staff was attentive and friendly and made sure we had time for 3 full courses and coffee before we had to go. The new menu covers a wide variety, from standbys like burgers, chicken to foie gras and rabbit. Overall quality was high, and the breadth of the wines by the glass list was impressive. Our favorites: house recipe oysters chargrilled in butter, seared foie gras with candied fennel was an amazing pairing (only wish it was bigger) and the crab and wild mushroom tagliatelle with truffles was divine. Chocolate creme brulee with graham and marshmallow stood out as a light and deconstructed smore. Overall - delightful.

I was skeptical going to the revamped Sazarac now called the Fountain Lounge. The restaurant bar has a wonderful feel and a raw bar. The atmosphere is warm and inviting. The interior is modern with a European flair. I started with the crawfish-andouille croquettes these were incredible. Then I had a half dozen raw oysters. Very big, very fresh, very good. My entree was the seared gulf fish. I hate brussels sprouts and they were beneath the fish in a saffron ragout. They were delicious. The service was prompt and professional since we were trying to get to the Saenger to make a play. The sommelier was very knowledgeable and the stem ware was beautiful. I highly recommend this bold new take on a New Orleans tradition.

We were very pleased with the beautiful, romantic atmosphere, and the appetizers and small plates arrived promptly. The entree took one hour to reach the table. We had theatre tickets and had to take our food "to go" in order to make the curtain. Also drinks were very expensive. Appetizers and atmosphere were good, but poor service overshadowed that.
