A word from The Fountain Lounge
The new Fountain Lounge at The Roosevelt New Orleans brings a touch of new-world sophistication, while offering subtle nods to the timeless elements of the hotel. Opened in 1938 under the direction of then-hotel owner Seymour Weiss, the Fountain Lounge was a place where the hip, sociable and fashionable met to enjoy cocktails and small plates in an atmosphere described as “casual and carefree as a night in Paris.”

Featuring rich wood flooring, luxurious fabrics and high-end finishes, the new Fountain Lounge balances its glamorous tradition with modern touches. The lounge will feature live entertainment with a focus on inventive cocktails and small plates, in keeping with its storied history. The new Fountain Lounge will set itself apart by offering a full raw bar serving a massive array of the freshest oysters and shellfish from the Gulf coast and also a sampling of the best raw seafood from around the world.

  • A Wonderful Breakfast!

The broad variety of choices on the breakfast menu was the most notable thing about this restaurant; eggs benedict 4 different ways, assorted pancakes and waffles, breakfast meats, and lots of sides. The lump crabmeat on the eggs benedict was fresh and generous. All four people in our party ordered different items and all were very pleased with their picks. The location in the Roosevelt Hotel was handy for us since our hotel was only 2 blocks away. The restaurant was crowded when we were there in the 9:30 to 10:30am time frame, so service was slow, but we were not in a hurry. The ambiance is well above average for breakfast or lunch and would hold its own for dinner. Other than Brennan"s Restaurant and a couple of other fine dining restaurants for breakfast, the Fountain Lounge was among the best, and the price was much less.

Waitress was polite, friendly and apologetic. If you do your job right apology's are not needed, wife's dish was not what she ordered but we did not send it back. Had to flag her down to get sherry for the turtle soup which was good but luke warm"not her fault" Bloody Mary's were shall for there price and and less than special. My daughter's omelet was huge but dry. My steak was small but properly cooked and very tasty. On the plus side it is a very clean and pleasant place to dine. Convenient to the Sanger theater and they validate valet parking "8 Hours"

We had eaten here several times before, that's how we ended up here for a late Sunday dinner. Previously we had only had appetizers and small plates. This time i ordered the burger. worst burger ever. i asked that it be medium and what i got was a solid chunk of over cooked block meat. the burger was the type that you get at low, very low, end restaurants. it was inedible. i had the fries and a few bites of the meat and then just watched my companions eating their meals which were quite good. it's a burger, how hard is it to get that right. just to boot, it came with a giant slab of cheese on it. that 's it. no tomato, lettuce or anything else. this would have been ok had the meat been edible. very disappointed.

Great spot to enjoy some very good music and appetizers. There was a great vocalist accompanied by a great piano player. This is not the place to come for dinner however. Fun environment and would definitely go again. We did not stay to eat so please ignore my review about the food being good. Very pricey but fun!

Our waitress was initially very friendly. However, when our entrees arrived, one of the six in our party did not receive his. After ten minutes, we asked about and were told it was coming. We asked again and the server was very rude and blamed the customer for the delay ( we all ordered at the same time). We had finished our meals when his finally arrived. Upon asking to speak to the manager, he kindly said he would address it. We then saw the server arguing with the manager! The food was ok, very small portions for the expense. Go for the drinks, not the food.

We had dinner before going to the Saenger. Everything from the hostess's warm welcome to the food and service was exceptional. The charcuterie board is truly out of this world! Great house-made pickles (including pickled kimchi & pears! YUM!) We split the beet salad, which was light and tasty, then split the pork belly entree. The meat was so tender and juicy, and paired quite well with the butternut squash puree. Tom Hook & his band mate came to talk to us, and proceeded to play the songs we had suggested. We felt like royalty, and almost didn't want to leave to go to the show. They had us out in a timely manner. I've never had anywhere near this wonderful of an experience at Domenica. We have found our new pre-theatre meal spot!

I assume that when I go to breakfast in the restaurant of a decent hotel that the service will be efficient and the food will be reasonably decent. The Fountain Lounge didn't meet either of those criteria. Breakfast took well over an hour, a problem since we had somewhere to be. Usually, one is met by someone with a coffeepot. Here it took well over 10 minutes for someone to stop by the table. She had amuse bouches of beignets, which was a nice touch, but no coffeepot. Each succeeding step also took longer than it should have. My oatmeal was tepid. My husband's fritata was just adequate. The kids liked the Belgian waffles.

Went for dinner with a friend and ordered a little bit of everything. The service was superb. Our server, Carlos, was attentive, funny and well-versed in the entire menu. The fried chickpeas were a fun starter. We also had many of the smaller versions of the entrées. The scallops were divine-light but still filling. We also had the bone marrow, one of my favorite items to order. It is offered with lobster but I have a tragic shellfish allergy. Chef Mark Majorie actually came to our table to assure me they could prepare it without lobster! The greatest part of the meal was the charcuterie board. All meats are cured on property. I am usually not meat board fan, but one week later it's still all I talk about! Best guanciale I ever tried!

Found this place last minute during a recent trip to New Orleans. I was a little suspect that there were so many available reservation times for a party of 8, but the reviews were mostly good. Well, we found out. The service was literally the WORST I've ever had. I had to get up from our table during our 2 HOUR dining experience TWICE to find our waiter. Ever after speaking with the manager, the service did not improve even a little bit. We even had to get up to retrieve out bottle of wine from the chiller because he clearly was never going to refill our glasses. Even thought the food was great, I will never go back and would not recommend it.

Although located in the previous fine dining area that was the Sazerac Restaurant in the past, this is a bar/lounge that serves high priced but relatively good food. We went thinking it was more of a restaurant so were disappointed with a loud, overly lubricated group there that started whistling to people passing in the hall way and then ordered a pizza from outside the restaurant that they ate while drinking. Go to Domenica if you want more of a restaurant but its is very loud as well.

This was my second time at the fountain lounge. The first time it was very nice with the music playing and the food was pretty good. For new years there's was a fixed menu and no music. At 79$ a person I'm glad they let my date and I share a meal. Not only were the portions small and not hot, but the food was horrible. I would have thought for a special occasion set menu, the food would have been top notch. The meal choices were good.... but the chef really messed up. I live in the neighborhood and not sure if I will return.

Fountain Lounge is nice, however very over priced. It's an old tradition going to the Roosevelt for Christmas. Went on a date there. Ordered the charbroiled Oysters which were amazing. Then split the Ahi Tuna small plate and Burger both were delicious. We ordered about 3 Martini's each, the bill came an it's was $120. Expensive night. I just feel I could have gone somewhere else and for that price got way more for our money. It will probably be a once in a life time experience.

The Fountain Lounge is a gem and you MUST go! The staff was knowledgeable & friendly! They made us feel extremely valued. It was a nice touch that the manager & chef stopped by our table. We started with the cheese plate & cocktails followed by small plates (they do offer full sized entrées). I recommend the small plates! We shared ahi tuna, pork belly, & the rabbit tenderloin. We enjoyed raw & bienville oysters. I'm a texture person and was nervous to try these delicacies, but my fella insisted. I'm glad I did! DELISH! If you have texture issues, I recommend the bienville, but both are tasty! The small plates are all superb! You can't go wrong with any of them, but if I had to pick 1 get the pork belly! I recommend visiting! Much to offer!
