The Foundry On MelroseBest Grilled Cheese EVERWe tried a lot of things (Latke balls, pork belly, turkey, peanut butter creme brûlée) that were all just amazing. The grilled cheese, however, was off the charts good. I'm moving to Irvine in the fall and will DEFINITELY make the trek to the Foundry for one of these.5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMhave already recommended tohave already recommended to friends who happened to be there for a return visit when we arrived. will continue to come!5/10/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat Food & Service! This was my first time here at the Foundry on Melrose. The living social deal [Spend $20, and receive $40 to spend], caught my attention. Without a doubt, I will definitely come back. Make sure to order the Grilled Cheese as an appetizer. Good for sharing for two. As the main entree, we ordered the Prime rib and the turkey breast. Both dish was prepped to a T! Presentation and taste was off the chart! Love Love It! Parking however is a bit of a challenge, since it is all curb side parking in a neighborhood. My dinner reservation was at 6 so parking was easier. But for those who enjoys a later dinner, plan accordingly! Thank you Foundry on Melrose!4/27/2013 12:00:00 AMReally enjoyed our experienceReally enjoyed our experience at The Foundry. Great small plates, interesting - but accessible. Will definitely go back and recommend to others.4/20/2013 12:00:00 AMAppetizers came out quickly,Appetizers came out quickly, main entree took about 20-25 minutes to come out after that. I had the grilled cheese and the chicken, both were outstanding. Perfectly cooked, tender chicken and a beer made my night. Iron Chef Greenspan even came out and greeted his patrons.4/19/2013 12:00:00 AMlove the food there, Ericlove the food there, Eric the chef/owner personally served us and asked how we are doing. luv the personal attention we received. staff overall was very professional and great.4/14/2013 12:00:00 AMFood was awesome!! The overall experience was fantastic. I would recommend The Foundry to one and all.4/13/2013 12:00:00 AMSpecial food and, withoutSpecial food and, without doubt, the best grlled cheese sandwich appetizer known to the Western world!4/12/2013 12:00:00 AMA great restaurant and greatA great restaurant and great food. Service is somewhat lengthy but besides that a great atmosphere.4/6/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat place everything wasGreat place everything was fantastic. My only complant the tables are to close to each other for getting up and down.4/6/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat Place!Food was amazing, especially the potato-leek soup. Wine list was good, beer selection was poor. Atmosphere was nice and quiet. They had a small outdoor area which was nice, however no view. It was completely closed off in the back. When I sit outside, I like to have a view, or a little people watching. :) But being closed off was understandable for this location.
Overall would definitely recommend this place! We will be returning for sure!4/5/2013 12:00:00 AMLoved the food- pork belly,Loved the food- pork belly, scallop sashimi are memorable. Wine was tasty. I absolutely loved the live music !!!!!4/4/2013 12:00:00 AMwowGreat spot that also has a zero corkage fee! Whaaaat?!4/2/2013 12:00:00 AMI would recommend this placeI would recommend this place to anyone with an adventuous taste bud. My husband and I came here on a Tuesday night just shortly after it opened for dinner so the ambience was quiet and yet romantic. The staff and waitress are both friendly and professional as well as attentive. My husband ordered their Ribeye beef and I decided to try their Branzino fish. Very nice presentation portion just right for an upscale dining restaurant. Chef approached each table and chat a bit, nice touch. This is not your typical restaurant and there is definitely a lot of thought place into thinking out of the box when preparing the food in which I admire and love. For dessert we had the green tea creme brulee and it was quite unique and tasty.4/2/2013 12:00:00 AMThe Foundry has become ourThe Foundry has become our favorite, go-to restaurant in L.A. Service, food and atmosphere are impeccable.3/16/2013 12:00:00 AMWe really loved this restaurant. We really loved this restaurant. We ate on the open patio which was kept warm and cozy with multiple heaters and a fireplace. The prices were reasonable and the food was delicious. We loved the grilled cheese with short ribs, and the potato latkes were different but very good. What made the experience extra special, though, was the exceptional service. Every dish was explained thoroughly, our water classes were refilled before we even noticed they were near empty. We had a wonderful time and will definitely go back again.3/16/2013 12:00:00 AMOne restaurant, two vibes. One restaurant, two vibes. My husband and I sat on the outside patio which was an inviting space. The service was attentive and friendly not only from our server, but from the support staff as well. House cocktail specials we surprisingly good and the food was equally delicious, if not a bit unusual. Grilled Cheese with short ribs was very good as was the tuna tartar. Dessert was the only disappointment...limited selection and just okay. By the time we left, the bar/lounge area was vibrant and loud with a live band. Would certainly make it diffcult to have a conversation without yelling. Overall, it's a thumbs up.3/16/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat Date Night SpotOur date night dinner at the Foundry was great from top to bottom. Our server was very helpful in making recommendations, and also explained all of the ingredients in our selections when he brought them out. The service was also very speedy and the chef came out and greeted everyone, which was a nice touch. I would definitely recommend the latke bites and the short rib grilled cheese...fantastic!3/15/2013 12:00:00 AMWasn't too thrilled with anythingWasn't too thrilled with anything that my table ordered. :( Wasn't bad per say... just not amazing, especially for the price. Definitely would not come back to pay a full price dinner there. We had the chicken and I assumed it would be a hearty piece of meat. Instead it was flat and crispy/crusty and tasted like eating chicken skin rather than meat! The pasta that came with it was overpowered with wasabi that I think was also mustard tasting.... Whatever it was, too much flavor and not in a good way!
I liked the ambiance and the service was great, just disappointed in the meal! :(3/15/2013 12:00:00 AM
