The FortGreat opportunity to experienceGreat opportunity to experience a unique menu. It's not very often that you see buffalo, elk and antelope offered. If your looking for something out of the ordinary, I definitely recommend "The Fort". For the not so adventurous; no worries. They have an excellent selection of more traditional fare.5/14/2013 12:00:00 AMFabulous FortOur waitperson, Ruth, was exceptional!! Buffalo empanadas excellent w/ two sauces. Try the Dixon's red chile sauce. Our party had the coffee & Dixon red chile rubbed duck, the salmon, the Gonzales steak, and a bison filet. Truly outstanding meal. Great pomegranate martinis; not too sweet. Blackberry cobbler, Mexican chocolate layer cake for dessert. Ambience simply lovely. We took advantage of the fire pit outside in the court yard after our meal and did some star gazing. Brought a friend from DC here for dinner who is also a western history buff. Splendid in all ways.5/13/2013 12:00:00 AMA very enjoyable Mother'sA very enjoyable Mother's day with my wife, first time there, food and service was great, will be back.5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMMother's Day brunchGreat experience. Service fantastic. Personally greeted by the owner. Wonderful Native American Flute music. Food very good - Bison, Elk, & Quail.5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMLovely placeStaff was very curtious and attentive. The owner came out to greet us and shared some Colorado history with our table. Beautiful outdoor views. Casual but with a fine dining feel. First time here and it was Mother's Day so they had a fixed menu. My family enjoyed the beef and game very much. No chicken on the menu for me and only 1 vegetarian dish with quinoa which I enjoyed very much. Guacamole not great. I would work on another bread roll recipe if they are made in-house. My family can't eat rolls fast enough and we usually get seconds. We didn't even finish the first basket. Very expensive $220 for 2 adults and 2 kids not including tip. Decided this will be a special occasion kind of place. We enjoyed it vey much.5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat for special daysNew menu and super great service. Not your just a steak place . Great for special occasions.5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat Western Dining ExperienceThis is where I take visitors to Colorado to show them what Western dining is all about. The menu is unique, but not excessively bizarre or exotic, and I've never had even a mediocre meal at the Fort. The food is always memorable. The location, setting and decor are all "Colorado Frontier" and you know that "this ain't no city rest'raunt!"5/9/2013 12:00:00 AMThe elk chops were fabulous.I have been waiting over a year to find a special occasion to visit The Fort again. The last visit one of our guests was especially impressed with the elk chops. I ordered them this visit and agree to their excellence. This restaurant is at the top of my list for places to go on a "special" occasion.5/9/2013 12:00:00 AMToo noisyThe Fort is a great place for anniversaries, but last Thursday night they had a party of 8-10 that was set up next to us with lots of table and chair moving and noise. This really detracted from the atmosphere. The wait staff did a very good job in coping with the situation, but the large group was just next to us and too close to be comfortable.5/9/2013 12:00:00 AMIt was greatThe food was GREAT and service was good. I could not have asked for better. THX5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMOur AnniversaryWe were very pleased with our wait staff, the food was perfect, the wine scrumptious and the overall experience memorable. Thank you for sharing our special occasion with us, and giving us such a lovely memory to complete a perfect day!5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMThe Fort is amazing.the buffaloThe Fort is amazing.the buffalo filet mignon was exquisite. Special on so many levels.vBulletin4/27/2013 12:00:00 AMgreat food, real fort vibeThe Fort has a one of a kind of vibe, with Indian loot players, and birthday huzzahs going off now and then. This is backed up by a creative menu of wild game and fish. My elk, bison and quail was perfectly grilled. The Fort is a great place as long as you are prepared for the atmosphere. The prices reflect the quality and type of food.4/26/2013 12:00:00 AMPriceless ExperienceHow can you not love a restaurant that is on the National Historic Registry, that has great views and great service, that serves the most incredibly tender and flavorful buffalo steak (even our son, who is not a steak lover, said, "Wow!"), that makes an evening of family celebration the most memorable? Yes, the tab was hefty, but the evening was priceless.4/26/2013 12:00:00 AMThere were 8 of us and everyoneThere were 8 of us and everyone had a wonderful meal and an awesome time!4/25/2013 12:00:00 AMThe Fort is Colorado diningThe Fort is Colorado dining at its best. The menu and food are superb. The service is top notch paying careful attention to detail. Always a delight to dine there.4/24/2013 12:00:00 AMI was dissapointed you don'tI was dissapointed you don't offer a filet larger than 6 oz. I did order the 16 oz ribeye. Very good but way too much for me to finish. My wife had the 6 oz filet and was very satisfied. Please consider offering a 8 to 10 oz filit (beef)4/23/2013 12:00:00 AMWe had a great experienceWe had a great experience and will be back. Just hope we don't have to drive to and from in a blizzard again!
Thanks, Marty4/22/2013 12:00:00 AMDon't miss the Buffalo Ribs!My husband and I had so much fun last night at The Fort! We started with the Quail Egg appetizer- unique and delicious. I order the 16oz Beef Ribeye Steak Carne Asada Style- cooked to perfection (and I'm very picky about how my steak is prepared). My husband order the Buffalo Beef Ribs- they tasted much like beef ribs. They were brilliantly seasoned and the half order was plenty! Dessert followed- 'Holly's Sundae' was amazing. Very pleasantly surprised at how reasonable and extensive the wine list was. They had plenty of wines to choose from that were $30 and under. Can't wait to go back!4/20/2013 12:00:00 AMMy wife and I had a wonderfulMy wife and I had a wonderful experience. I like the ambiance most and it's a nice place to visit on occasion4/16/2013 12:00:00 AMWe have eaten at the FortWe have eaten at the Fort many times over the years. The service, appetizer and salad were wonderful as usual. I tried the elk chops this time and they were a definite disappointment. The flavor was fine, but they were tough and dry. Definitely not worth the $41 price.4/13/2013 12:00:00 AMhip, hip...Thank You Soo Much You Guys for this AMAZING experience, Thank You Kevin! for your great service, and your wishes! It's the first time in my entire life that i have had such an awesome service in a restaurant!, It was the perfect place to go and celebrate our 2 year anniversary, see you guys next year!! :) Hip, hip...4/13/2013 12:00:00 AMDon't MissWe go through the Denver area several times per year and make it a point to go to The Fort each time. It is that good.4/9/2013 12:00:00 AMEveryone must try this place...YUM!Unique!!! Some of the best food I've ever had. Unusual fusion of items I've eaten for years and some I've never tasted. For example, the Quail Eggs wrapped in Bison served with berry jam was amazing! Our server, Eric, recommended it. We were here to try new food & were happy to have his extensive knowledge & suggestions.
The authentic greeter, who stopped by "in character" & told us stories, the sweet hosts, and professional & freindly servers made this our new favorite place before we even tasted our hand-crafted peach brandy julep or those crispy-quail eggs. Sorry, I have to mention them twice because I've never seen those anywhere and now I crave them!!!
Our server, Eric, was beyond exceptional. Cozy great atmosphere a plus.4/6/2013 12:00:00 AMBoth the food qnd serviceBoth the food qnd service was top notch and the scenery was great it would have been fun to eat outside but it was to cool4/4/2013 12:00:00 AMThe history of The Fort andThe history of The Fort and authentic dishes add to its charm. Good value for our Easter dinner. Service was wonderful. Enjoyed the ambiance.3/31/2013 12:00:00 AMThis is our 3rd visit to theThis is our 3rd visit to the Fort & all dining experiences have been exceptional!3/31/2013 12:00:00 AMGood place for specials occasionsThe Fort is a great place for special occasions. The western decor creates a comfortable atmosphere, even with a full house. We have had the filet mignon on several occasions and it has always been good. The service staff is outstanding and always makes the experience pleasant. I have recommended this restaurant to my friends. They have also enjoyed this restaurant.3/31/2013 12:00:00 AMOne of my favorite restaurantsOne of my favorite restaurants in the Denver area. The location and recreation of Bents' Fort are spectacular. Sam Arnold's family lived there and evidence that this was a family home is everywhere. The food centers around buffalo and other meats a traveler on the Santa Fe migh eat. There are some more modern choices as well. We eat at the Fort on special occasions and have promised each other to try the Rocky Mountain Oysters the next time e go3/31/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent Easter Feast! As always the food and service was extraordinary! Great venue for special occasions and out of town groups as it is uniquely Colorado!3/31/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat place to create a memoryI took my family here for Easter dinner. It was wonderful. Unique, fun, and quite delicious. It created a memory that my kids will always have -- especially eating quail eggs and peanut butter filled jalepenos! The staff was great, and even opened the little shop just for us after our dinner (the shop had already closed), so that made for an even more entertaining visit. The total bill was a bit pricy, but in truth, I would have spent that much or more had I cooked at home. This way, I didn't have to cook or clean, and it was quite memorable.3/31/2013 12:00:00 AMviewsAsk to be seated in the main dining room with views.3/30/2013 12:00:00 AMThis was first time at theThis was first time at the Fort. It was a wonderful meal and great views.
Thank you3/16/2013 12:00:00 AMBest frontier-themed restaurantWe particularly enjoyed the heritage menu items which encluded unconventional yet very enjoyable flavor combinations. The adobe-style frontier fort theme creates a very warm, earthy environment. Although the view was East-facing, the sunset was very enjoyable. The staff were extremely attentive, polite and genuine. We experienced excellent all around service. With entrees, drinks, and dessert, it was about $167 for two people before tip. Well worth the cost. We will definitely return for our next special occasion.3/16/2013 12:00:00 AMJust moved back, great as ever!We have been going to the Fort over the years and just moved back to the area. We were pleased to see that the Fort has maintained the same charm, good food and great service. Keep up the good work, and we will be back!3/15/2013 12:00:00 AMRepeat PerformanceEvery year, starting a few years ago, we have made the Fort part of our anniversary celebration. Besides the unique history of the genesis and current ownership of The Fort, it offers unique and historic Colorado cuisine from the late 1800's, fine dining and terrific ambiance. Besides our annual trek to the Fort, we have also hosted business meetings there and without exception, we have had a pleasing evening, great service and wonderful food and drink.3/13/2013 12:00:00 AMA bit on the high end price-wise.A bit on the high end price-wise. Must like red meat!3/11/2013 12:00:00 AMAuthentic Western DiningDinner at the Fort was a wonderful experience, from the campfire in the courtyard to the amazing meal. Our table was beside a fireplace and we had a view of the metro area as the sun surrendered to the city lights. Our food, a selection of game that included antleope, guinea hen and bison, was delicious. Brandon was more of a host and guide than a simple waiter helping us pick the perfect meal, refreshments and dessert for a romantic birthday dinner. We look forward to our next visit for another authentic western dining experience.3/10/2013 12:00:00 AMLast day of restaurant weekLast day of restaurant week - good food as always, and my English friend ate - and enjoyed - Rocky Mountain oysters :)3/8/2013 12:00:00 AMWe went during restaurantWe went during restaurant week and ordered from that menu so the choices were limited. Food was good, but nothing special. Service was amazing. Our waitress was so sweet, welcoming, and on top of everything. We sat next to one of the big bay windows and had a view of the entire city. Beautiful.3/4/2013 12:00:00 AM
