The FortFantastic Occasion Restaurant TreatThe FORT seems to accommodate my every need. From a romantic first date setting to entertaining out-of-state visitors, or celebrating my sons' birthdays; the staff somehow make it all work and the environment fits every situation. My favorite restaurant by far and I'd highly recommend it to anyone wanting to get an experience worth the money for any occasion!6/15/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent experienceMy wife and I absolutely loved the experience. It is a little bit pricey, but worth every penny! I can't say enough about the staff! They made the dinner experience one to remember! Eating in courses without really noticing it. The extensive wine list has something for every at every price point. It is an experience like no other. The food was amazing and filled with flavor. I recommend this to everyone to go and try it at least once. Be certain we will be going back again! I give it 5 stars!6/15/2013 12:00:00 AMAmazing placeI was visiting Denver and was recommended this place by a friend and i could not have been more pleased. The guacamole was great and their blue cheese dressing was the best I have had. Everything that our table tried was delicious.6/15/2013 12:00:00 AMExquisite experienceVisited for our first time last weekend for our 40th wedding anniversary. Exceptional experience - unique foods (marrow bones, bison tongue, Trade Whiskey - wonderful entrée (buffalo), special attention (picture with traditional headdresses accompanied by a drummer) and great service. Just a special outing and one that I would recommend for anyone looking for a special occasion!6/14/2013 12:00:00 AMAlways enjoyable! It has been a longtime since we had been to The Fort. Went for my husband's bday and we all enjoyed the meal, service, and setting. Our 9 & 12 yr old had a great time too!6/14/2013 12:00:00 AMWhat a great placeI took my husband and my brother to dinner. It was to celebrate my husbands birthday. We had such a great time. The food was superb and filling. The scenery was spectacular. We will definately be back.6/11/2013 12:00:00 AMBuffalo FiletBuffalo filet was very tough and not very flavorful. Extremely disappointed as this was not the case with our previous experience with The Fort. Other meats were very good - beef ribeye, elk.6/9/2013 12:00:00 AMClassic ColorradoI love the look and feel of The Fort. Food and service never disappoint. Great location for prior to. red Rocks concert. A real Colorado Classic!6/5/2013 12:00:00 AMFabulous Dining with Rustic CharmMy wife and I had an excellent time. Food was exceptional and service was on tip of it.6/5/2013 12:00:00 AMFantastic FineThe Fort was a terrfic fine. Great wines and very diverse menu. We took our time and had several appertizers and the Elk for dinner. We overlooked the scenic mountains. Our waiters were very attentive without hoovering or being to obtrusive. Nice romantic evening.6/4/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent! We hadn't been to The Fort in 27 years but chose it for our Anniversary dinner. It really is a special place - incredible views, amazing food - especially if you want wild game, and impeccable service. Highly recommend it.6/2/2013 12:00:00 AMExpensive but well worth it.There aren't many places in Denver that specialize in the food of the Old West. The Fort does it well. Add the location and Bent's fort replica and you've got an unforgettable experience not just for out-of-state visitors but locals, too. I'll give it five huzzahs out of five.6/2/2013 12:00:00 AMColorado Gem!The food, service, ambiance, and views are consistently superb!
We bring visitors to the Fort regularly & celebrate our wedding anniversary there each March.
Cheers!
C.6/1/2013 12:00:00 AMspecial event placeThe Fort has delicious food, that is well prepared, although expensive. The dessert was to die for and the service is perfect, no one asked if I was still "working" on my food, very professional. The ambience is a good mix of rustic fort and elegance. This is the perfect place for a romantic date or to celebrate a special occasion.6/1/2013 12:00:00 AMFirst time at The FortWe totally enjoyed the entire experience. Great staff; food and the ambiance we were hoping for. A little on the pricey side, but worth it for a special occasion.6/1/2013 12:00:00 AMThe staff was very friendlyThe staff was very friendly yet professional. The food was delicious.5/31/2013 12:00:00 AMSuperb experience. A littleSuperb experience. A little too much noise but otherwise great5/31/2013 12:00:00 AMUnique dining experienceThis was an anniversary dinner for us. The table was ready, the service impeccable & never rushed, & the from-scratch menu very unique & delicious. It is a rare experience anymore to go to a dinner where the diners are actually treated like they are the center of attention which the Fort staff certainly managed to do. We highly recommend The Fort as a getaway dinner experience of the first order.5/31/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat restaurant for gameGreat restaurant for game meals. It is always a pleasure to visit this place. Food always excellent,5/30/2013 12:00:00 AMNewbie to the FortWe took an out of town guest to the Fort who was very impressed with the rustic decor, and interesting menu. Our guest truly enjoyed the Trader Whiskey. The steaks are so tender you can cut them with your fork. If you want a very interesting place to take someone for a special occasion, or just a nice night out, this is the place.5/29/2013 12:00:00 AMThe Fort FeedbackService was superb....food was overpriced....everything else was exciting. View was very good, as expected. Thanks for asking.5/29/2013 12:00:00 AMgreat evening spot for diningStarted coming to the Fort in the late 1990's and still come for the food and the ambiance and the view. The food is always thoughtfully prepared, with excellent choices for side dishes and great breads and muffins. Now that I am gluten-free, I notice what the kitchen can prepare to satisfy my diet. Enjoyed the bison ribs with a jicama slaw and had plenty to take home. The service is so good, not pushy but attentive. There were families and couples on our last visit, enjoying celebrations and the comfortable ambiance of the Fort.5/27/2013 12:00:00 AMMemorial DayGo for the food. But the wine list is long and not expensive at all. Got loud as the evening wore on.5/27/2013 12:00:00 AMLong wait / good foodWe ordered three starters which were all very good. The issue was the hour + wait for our meals after they were ordered and the rock hard seats we spent 2.5 hours in. Management noticed this wait without our bringing it up and without our asking sent a tray of assorted treats to our table after our meal. That tells you all you need to know about The Fort. Would we go again? If we had out of state guests, 50/50 chance.5/26/2013 12:00:00 AMHuzzahGreat dinner with exceptional service. Always a great place to spend a special occasion.5/26/2013 12:00:00 AMFirst TimeGreat food and experience, coupled with incredible service!!!5/25/2013 12:00:00 AMWe love this place! If you love wild game, check out the Rocky Mountain Oysters, braised Bison tongue, Bison medallions, Antelope and Quail. They also have a mountain man walking around in full gear. Indian flute players, and the best food in the world. We wish we could afford to go more often!5/25/2013 12:00:00 AMStill fun for special occasionWe went to the fort with my in-laws who hadn't been to Denver before. It was a fun, unique experience. The food is quite good and unique. The atmosphere can be a bit hokey, but it is a touristy place. Definitely get the game dishes (elk, buffalo, quail) as you can probably get a better steak elsewhere in the city. The reason to come is to get out of Denver, see something different, and taste something you don't normally get.5/24/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat dinner spotMy family had dinner at The Fort during our vacation in the Denver area. We had an excellent experience! The service was attentive without being overbearing. The food options were plentiful. We all enjoyed our food very much. I was happy to find a delicious vegetarian entree. The desserts were great, too!5/24/2013 12:00:00 AMTook a colleague from Miami,Took a colleague from Miami, FL to dinner. We both had the buffalo/bison filet mignon. It was the best cut of meat I have had in a long time. Perfectly seasoned, perfectly cooked. I had mine medium rare and the center was hot and red...hard to do. Service was outstanding. I will be back soon.5/21/2013 12:00:00 AMTry something new!I was hesitant to try Elk, Bison, Antelope, Quail, etc., but was so glad that I did. It was VERY good! I got the sampler entree, and it was amazing. Loved the salad and fresh bread too. Our favorite drink was the prickly pear margarita! YUMMY!!!5/20/2013 12:00:00 AMThe experience was great fromThe experience was great from the time we walked in the door until we left. Thank you for the great service and great food. we will be back.5/20/2013 12:00:00 AMThe Fort is always a greatThe Fort is always a great place to bring family and friends. It has great service, knowledgeable staff, food is wonderful and of course the scenic view of the Denver and the eastern plains......5/20/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat birthday celebration!Service was excellent and our waiter, Matt, was very helpful and informative about the menu selections. Nicole, his assistant, was very attentive. Our entire meal was delicious and served hot. We enjoyed my birthday celebration and would go back again for future special events.5/19/2013 12:00:00 AMEnjoyed a fantastic dinner.Enjoyed a fantastic dinner. The food is always excellent and the night we dined was no exception. My only dissappoint was the view - or lack thereof. For some reason outside the back of the Fort large white tents blocked every exterior window and there was no view into the valley/city. Hope the tents are not permanent.5/19/2013 12:00:00 AMRomanticThis restaurant is outstanding. The ambience is most accommodating. The only thing is that if there is a group occasion, it would be better to have it away from a romantic ambience, because this becomes an intrusion. People sometimes become very loud and I personally do not like to be interrupted when I am in a romantic ambience with my husband. I love the music that is played, for this reason people should respect other people's privacy.
Other than that this restaurant if marvelous and Kevin is a most delightful and outstanding waiter.5/19/2013 12:00:00 AM"The Essence of Colorado"In addition to the more readily-available game, The Fort's unique menu has some rather unusual offerings, such as braised buffalo tongue, roasted bison marrow bones, and Rocky Mountain "oysters." (If you have to ask,...)
Our dinner choices included buffalo sirloin, elk chop, antelope medallion and teriyaki quail, with potatoes, vegetables and a superb compliment of wild huckleberries. All were cooked to a juicy, tender perfection. The duck Quesadilla with mango-chipotle salsa appetizer and the Triple Layer Chocolate Chile Bourbon Cake dessert were both different but very delicious.
Though a bit pricey, dining at The Fort is more than a meal; it's an experience: a step back in time and an insight into the geography and history of Colorado.5/19/2013 12:00:00 AMWe went to the Fort to celebrateWe went to the Fort to celebrate my wife's new job and brother-in-law retirement. It was the first time for our out of town guests and they were very impressed by the service, quality of food and the ambiance. It was an awesome experience.5/18/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat food and serviceWe've been loyal Fort customers for nearly a decade. As always, the food and service were great. However, the portions have decreased while the prices have simultaneously skyrocketed over the last several years. And the view was obstructed by tents blocking the skyline. There is definitely some room for improvement.5/18/2013 12:00:00 AMDelicious culinary adventure! We had a party of 14 and had a "Waughsome" experience. The buffalo BBQ ribs with tangy Jack Daniels Bourbon BBQ sauce was amazing. The historians platter of apps gave each a sample of Rcky mtn oysters, buffalo tongue, jalapeño s stuffed with peanut butter and a serving of guacamole . Top it off with a prickly pear margarita! WOW!5/18/2013 12:00:00 AMUnfortunately, the lamb t-bonesUnfortunately, the lamb t-bones were under-cooked.
Otherwise, the food was satisfactory.5/17/2013 12:00:00 AMThe best restaurant in ColoradoWe've been dining at The Fort since 1972 and this restaurant never disappoints.5/17/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat opportunity to experienceGreat opportunity to experience a unique menu. It's not very often that you see buffalo, elk and antelope offered. If your looking for something out of the ordinary, I definitely recommend "The Fort". For the not so adventurous; no worries. They have an excellent selection of more traditional fare.5/14/2013 12:00:00 AMFabulous FortOur waitperson, Ruth, was exceptional!! Buffalo empanadas excellent w/ two sauces. Try the Dixon's red chile sauce. Our party had the coffee & Dixon red chile rubbed duck, the salmon, the Gonzales steak, and a bison filet. Truly outstanding meal. Great pomegranate martinis; not too sweet. Blackberry cobbler, Mexican chocolate layer cake for dessert. Ambience simply lovely. We took advantage of the fire pit outside in the court yard after our meal and did some star gazing. Brought a friend from DC here for dinner who is also a western history buff. Splendid in all ways.5/13/2013 12:00:00 AMMother's Day brunchGreat experience. Service fantastic. Personally greeted by the owner. Wonderful Native American Flute music. Food very good - Bison, Elk, & Quail.5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMA very enjoyable Mother'sA very enjoyable Mother's day with my wife, first time there, food and service was great, will be back.5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMA great dining experience,A great dining experience, particularly for special occaisons.5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMThe Fort is truly a ColoradoThe Fort is truly a Colorado one of a kind gem, is an experience that everyone should indulge5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMLovely placeStaff was very curtious and attentive. The owner came out to greet us and shared some Colorado history with our table. Beautiful outdoor views. Casual but with a fine dining feel. First time here and it was Mother's Day so they had a fixed menu. My family enjoyed the beef and game very much. No chicken on the menu for me and only 1 vegetarian dish with quinoa which I enjoyed very much. Guacamole not great. I would work on another bread roll recipe if they are made in-house. My family can't eat rolls fast enough and we usually get seconds. We didn't even finish the first basket. Very expensive $220 for 2 adults and 2 kids not including tip. Decided this will be a special occasion kind of place. We enjoyed it vey much.5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat for special daysNew menu and super great service. Not your just a steak place . Great for special occasions.5/11/2013 12:00:00 AM
