We've been to Ventana several times, but this was our first time at the Flying V. We were seated on the patio with a terrific view of the mountains, golf course & waterfalls. The wine list was broad enough to be interesting with several selections by the glass that were well above the "low end" choices you might find in other restaurants. The house margarita was also very tasty. The tableside guacamole was terrific. Made fresh & to taste by the waiter, it was a great way to start the meal. My wife had the chopped salad and it was fresh and filling. I chose the southwest garden salad and had the waiter add salmon to it. The salmon fillet was nearly the same size as the salmon entree & went well with the salad. Too full for dessert.

My husband treated me to a mother's day dinner at the Flying V and it was great. We had appetizer's, Wine, and a great dinner. We also had to take our ten week old daughter and they accommodated her car seat by pulling over a lounge chair so she will be safe. The staff was great, and the environment was wonderful, I had a great time!!

    OpenTable Diner Since 2009

First things first. At the Flying V I felt like a guest, not a customer. From the manager to the waiter I felt like a friend. The service is fast, but not pushy. They stray from the normal bread and butter by serving a chili corn bread in a mini cast iron dish along with a flavored butter. The chicken caesar salad was fresh, and the chicken tasted freshly grilled, not like it had been sitting in a fridge for a day or two. My filet mignon was cooked rare as I asked for, not the typical medium rare or medium I get when ordering rare at other restaurants. I would call the Flying V a versatile upscale semi-casual restaurant perfect for occasions ranging from a nice meal out to something special such as an anniversary. Would definitely go back.

The guacamole prepared tableside was a nice touch. Probably enough to feed four easily, but there were only two of us. The rack of ribs and dessert to split were plenty also. The service was a bit slow. We made reservations for 6:30 but we did not leave until 8:20. We liked not being rushed through our food, but didn't enjoy the wait for the main course and then again for dessert and the check.

I went with a large group. All seafood dishes were excellent and cooked perfectly. Two people got pork items and were disappointed with the quality of the meat in comparison with the cost of the plate. Guests can dine by the water and enjoy the scenic mountain views. Go for the atmosphere but steer clear of any pork!

Food good but not outstanding. Portions generous. Prices fairly reasonable for a resort restaurant - half bottles of wine for $8, which was great. Service excellent. We had ceviche (good but had better elsewhere) and tuna lettuce wraps (generous portion, very messy to eat). We had ribs (again we've had better elsewhere. A little chewy, rather than falling off the bone). Corn on the cob had a lovely smokey flavour and the creamy potatoes (the meal comes with cornbread but we substituted) were very tasty, but not very warm. We were joined by a rather large black bug running around the floor which took the staff some time to track down and get rid off. If it hadn't been Tucson in the monsson season, brings the bugs out, we would have left

Would have liked to have seen more vegetarian/vegan options on the menu. Our food was delicious. I had told our server that we were celebrating our anniversary and I was a little disappointed that she/the restaurant did nothing to acknowlege it. I expected a small desert to share or even an after-dinner coffee drink but our server did not offer anything. Also when making the reservation I stated that we were celebrating our anniversary and asked for a cozy, romantic table. The table was ok but we were seated right next to a table of three very loud women who pretty much drowned out our conversation.

The mac and cheese with mushrooms was great. The only problem was the way it was packaged at the end of the night. There were pieces of rice ( as if someone used the same spoon to pack rice then my dish) in my left overs. Neither of us had a dish that had rice. I was a little disappointed in that. The guac was great and made to order.
