  • "I've always wanted to go to this restaurant and I was so impressed with the ambience, food, and service. I highly recommend going!"

  • "If you haven't been to Fly Trap for awhile, it's time to return. Pleasant experience from start to finish."

  • "After The Inferno I didn't remember much until dessert but I can absolutely vouch for the hummus appetizer and the not too sweet cheesecake. My husband is still talking about the beef cheeks. Would go back in a NY minute."

  • "This restaurant was recommended by a friend based on some food she tried that was catered by the restaurant. It was decent and a good meal, but left something to be desired. I would go back, but would not bring city guests to impress."

  • "I love this place. The staff are friendly and the food is awesome. Dishes have unique components but they are also accessible and just plain delicious. I enjoy fun unique cocktails, too, and their selection makes a quick choice difficult!"

  • "A very welcoming spot with a charming atmosphere and good food. We'll be back!"

  • "I took my staff here, while in SF for a conf. Great find! Very friendly staff, great service, and what a (bizarre) menu! Eggplant jam?!? It was oddly delicious. The goat cheese cheesecake is not to be missed. Yummy Brussel sprouts. I would have enjoyed a few more choices on wines by the glass, but the (limited) offerings were very good. Enjoyable evening all around."

  • "So many original choices I wished there were a sampler menu so I could try everything. Glad I had trout with grapefruit and mixed greens. What wonderful complex flavored. Next course was stuffed Eggplant and peppers - healthy lentils and rice and complex flavoring. Husband's lamb burger good - nothing imaginative like other dishes. French fries could have been better. Cinnamon ice-cream with whipped cream and cardamom and fresh fruit in rum a winner - never mind the hard poached apple which should have been focal point."

  • "The food was amazing. Chef Zare is a San Francisco gem. The pistachio meatballs, kebab, ahi tuna, cucumber yogurt pudding and baklava were to die for. Great for a date night, night out with friends, or to wind down after a long day. The service was great and the Chef himself usually brings out the food. This is a must try for any SF locals and visitors."

  • "Flytrap is a quirkly restaurant and bar. With its wall papered walls, metal ceilings, mirror dividers and garden outlook, it is understated cool. Dish of the day for us was the flat iron steak kebab... Juicy steak served with mint, radish, yoghurt and warm lavish bread ... Delicious. We also tried the filled spiced naan and summer spread. The warm naan and the pea dip were tasty. The grilled stuffed calamari was nice but not spectacular but the black cardamom braised short rib made up for it in spades. The meat fell off the bone - tender and juicy with great accompaniments. The service was attentive but the restaurant was really noisy. To be fair the staff asked if we preferred to sit out the back, but we chose the front room."

  • "Fly trap is fantastic. The food is creative and delicious, mixing interesting variations of standard middle eastern fare (sure a hummus ) with Classic American and European cuisine. I cannot recommend this place enough."

  • "This restaurant has some delicious choices that should make it so it's added to a commendation list for tourists! Also, management and the chef were involved with speaking with the customers throughout the night which was a bonus."

  • "The food was quite good, especially all of the vegetable selections. I feel they fell down a bit on the lamb burger, though the bun it was on was amazing. The service is uber attentive, without being intrusive. VERY attentive waitstaff. It's quite the experience dining here. On Thursdays, try to go after 6PM to avoid the Happy Hour crowds. Order the brussels sprouts with melted parmesan. Try the cauliflower and don't leave without the naan. Pay attention to the service and see if I am not right!"

  • "I used to frequent Zara, the chef's previous restaurant in Napa many years ago when I lived there. Fly Trap captures a better ambiance but with the same amazing and thoughtful food. Great restaurant, inventive dishes combining traditional french cuisine with Has Zara's Mediterranean influences and does so to perfection. Why its taken me so long to come back I have no idea, but I won't be making that same mistake."

  • "When we went to Fly Trap, it was fairly crowded & our table wasn't available. The staff were very apologetic, & worked hard to seat us as quickly as possible. After a moderate wait we ended up in a side room (much quieter than the main one). The staff were friendly & attentive. The menu was not large, but had a variety of excellent choices. My braised short ribs were among the best I have ever had. The wine list had a nice selection of French, Italian & CA wines (we had a Dolcetto D'Alba). After we finished eating, Hoss Zaré, the chef/owner came to the table with complimentary glasses of wine. He is a very charming fellow, & spent 5 minutes chatting before giving each of us a farewell hug. Definitely a very pleasant dining experience."

  • "Given many of the reviews, my expectations were high. First, they were unable to seat us in the dining room. We were seated in the crowded and noisy bar area. We could barely hear one another across the table. The food was mediocre. Even their signature dishes failed on many levels, just plain boring. I will never return to this restaurant nor recommend it to anyone. I honestly don't understand all of the positive reviews for this place. The best thing was our waiter, Gabriel. He was friendly and attentive. Other than that I wouldn't bother with this restaurant. There are just too many other good choices in SF."

  • "We frequently dine at the best restaurants in SF - this one is special. The Chef and Staff prepare great food. They care about their guests as if you are family. Our family dined at The Fly Trap for the first time on May 13, 2014. My wife had been familiar Chef Zare by reputation but I was unfamiliar with his food. Great Blood Orange salad..perhaps the best in my life. No kidding. The main course of beef checks were outstanding. The desert of bitter coconut sorbet with chutney was unique and fantastic. The Chef has great skill. I am not a critic but trust me you will enjoy the food. The service was attentive, knowledgable and experienced. We will go back soon. "

  • "The food, service, and ambience were excellent. There were interesting twists on standard dishes with the subtle use of middle eastern spices and ingredients. Our waiter was great and Manuel, the busser, was charming and seemed to anticipate our every need. And we were seated by the chef himself who also came out during the meal to make sure that everything was as good as it could be. It was."

  • "We dined last week at Flytrap and canceled a reservation at a well-known upscale SF spot to return to Flytrap. Couldn't resist the braised lamb."
    Dined on 5/6/2014
  • "The Flytrap continues to surprise the pallet with the creative expression of chef Hoss Zare. Don't miss the braised short ribs or lamb. Pair it with a well-matched Bekaa Valley red. Lebanese food doesn't get any better."

  • "As always we had a w'fu dinner here with out of town guests. This is our favorite go to restaurant whenever we have guests. Not only the food is absolutely fresh, w'ful, interesting flavors, & presented beautifully but the Chef Owner Hoss always takes time to come out & walk around the restaurant & talk with his guests which makes you feel at home. Will always be back!"

  • "Everything was great from the ambiance to the food! Our waiter was absolutely perfect and I would request to sit in his section the next time to guarantee the same service. The food was amazing; seasoned to perfection. My friends and I had such a great time laughing and enjoying one another over great food. I have no complaints, definitely coming back!"

  • "We have always heard about Fly Trap, but never made it. Glad we finally had dinner there. Service was friendly and fabulous, and food has an Iranian/Persian twist. We were introduced to new flavors that the entire family enjoyed."

  • "Great ambiance....my wife and I we pleasantly surprised ...great find great food can't say much more ...the wait staff was helpful and attentive but not overbearing."

  • "Not inexpensive, but the food, service, and atmosphere are all what I would expect at this price level. Our bill was $200 before tip for dinner for four. The owner was exceptionally friendly and gracious. The waitstaff were very well trained and friendly."

  • "This was our second visit back to Fly Trap and for our anniversary. The owner had made sure that we were well taken care of and even came to congratulate us personally. Each plate was as delish as the next one and amazingly set beautifully. This place has definitely become our favorite and we will certainly go back for more!"

  • "After a day of play in San Francisco it was a pleasure to dine once again at The Fly Trap. Good location, able to park on the street right in front of the restaurant. Friendly and attentive staff, nice small selection of wines by the glass. Eclectic menu with Persian accents, and Mr. Zare himself made an appearance at our table. Best of all, they were able to accommodate my wife's dietary restrictions and still provide ample portions and delicious dishes. A great way to end the day in the city before heading 80 miles back home. Really could not ask for more."
    Dined on 4/5/2014
  • "Expensive for mediocre food. All main dishes were between $24 to $30 range with the exception of a burger at $17. There is charge for bread plate and for most side dishes. Wine list was limited and also expensive. For the money there are many better choices in the area south of Yerba Buena Center."

  • "Our office just moved in across the street. I am super happy to have this gem as my new afterwork hangout. The service was great and so was the food. A tad loud is my only complaint."

  • "The new Fly Trap offers tasty Mediterranean food and excellent service in an atmospheric setting. A perfect place to go before a Giants game."

  • "We had a business event in the neighborhood and stopped by Fly Trap based on the Open Table reviews. What a wonderful interior, full of San Francisco history and memorabilia. The "Mediterranean" food was just that, but not the typical fare. Very delicious dolmas using peppers vs. grape leaves as the container, for example. Fernando shared stories of the place and its owners with obvious enjoyment. We'd definitely plan to go back."

  • "I liked the food very much. I found the portions small especially for the price. Other than that, we all enjoyed ourselves."

  • "This place was a great find for us. We passed it frequently on our way to work, which isn't open and why would it at 8am in the morning -- and thought it would be a great place to check out for dinner. The minute we walked in, the staff was very personable, and sat us right away. The energy was great and the exclusive libations they served at the bar was better than some concoction I've ever had any place else. I top my hat to you who ever was the bartendar that night. The food was fabulous, cooked well, and worth coming back for. I would recommend this establishment to my friends and to anyone who's looking for something new and different. Definitely on top of my list."

  • "Unusual, creative, and very tasty combinations. Great drink list. Chef delivers good to table! Checks back later yo be all is right. Super desserts! No complaints. Just a little noisy. Sat in back room, which us quieter. Recommend."

  • "This place has two rooms - a larger (more energetic) room and then one behind it for ore sedate dining with a few tables - that's where we were. The menu has plenty of choice and the waiter was more than happy to guide us to what's best. And we enjoyed it all - our standouts were the Fish entrees and the sides with them as well as the brussels sprouts side. A lot of intense flavors so be ready. One limit is that the wine list is short of gems - there is however a better than average wine store around the corner and corkage is reasonable."

  • "I have a pet peeve regarding waitstaff not bringing "go" boxes or doggy bags to the table with the check. Once again we left without our leftovers. The patron should not have to remember to ask for them. This is not a problem that is unique to The Fly Trap. Over the years I have left Perbacco many times empty handed because the waitstaff doesn't provide your leftovers. Annoying."
