The FlorentineBefore opera matineeThis place is a great find for brunch or lunch on a Sunday, with a huge assortment of good courses to choose from. I took my mom before an opera matinee. The service was fantastic.5/5/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat place for a celebratory lunchI took 3 of my colleagues from work out to lunch here to celebrate a recent case, and it was definitely the right place to go. The waitress was friendly and prompt without hovering. The good was quite good - I had one of their gourmet hamburgers and French fries, and it lived up to the billing. If I could figure out how to give 4.5 stars for the food and service, I would.5/3/2013 12:00:00 AMLunch service was impeccable.Lunch service was impeccable. Best Italian Cobb salad in town.4/25/2013 12:00:00 AMCame with a group of nine,Came with a group of nine, made a reservation weeks in advance but they didn't have the table ready. they finally got us seated and comped us with 2 free pizza appetizers, which was a nice "sorry." Otherwise, the experience was good, the food was good, not too loud after about 1 or 1:30, so we were able to have a really nice lunch. Would recommend4/16/2013 12:00:00 AMThank you - we really enjoyedThank you - we really enjoyed our brunch and will be back again to visit.4/6/2013 12:00:00 AMWill definitely be back! GreatWill definitely be back! Great ambiance, service and food! We had a table in the back by the window - very easy to talk on a business lunch!4/4/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat lunch spot in the loopThey do a great job at lunch. Scallop ap was very good.4/3/2013 12:00:00 AMThe Florentine has becomeThe Florentine has become a good standby for client and group lunches. The food is always good, however, the service is hit or miss. This time our server (Marcy) was outstanding and made the experience very pleasant!3/28/2013 12:00:00 AMThe menu was refreshing andThe menu was refreshing and creative. Kudos to the culinary team.3/23/2013 12:00:00 AMThe service at the FlorentineThe service at the Florentine is very good - the wait staff is attentive, helpful and knowledgeable. The food is good, but not spectacular - perhaps I went to the restaurant with too high of an expectation because it was a recommendation from a friend.3/22/2013 12:00:00 AMClean, modern Italian in the LoopThe Florentine is located on the second floor of the J.W. Marriott. Expect the crowd to reflect the hotel: road warrior consultants, conference attendees, etc. This review reflects the prix-fixe menu for Chicago's chef's week, which included four courses for $44. The burrata app and the pistachio cheesecake/crème brulée stood out. The entrée was seared char, which was good but forgettable. The wine list included some excellent, affordable ($30-40), and hard-to-find Italian wines. The non-prix-fixe menu looked pretty good but extremely $$$$, which I guess is to expect at a hotel. My main complaint is the music - "jazz," if you can call it that - which was both atrocious & atrociously loud. Completely did not fit the overall vibe!3/21/2013 12:00:00 AMFood is excellent and serviceFood is excellent and service is appropriately attentive without being intrusive.3/14/2013 12:00:00 AMHigh Quality for a HotelThis restaurant is located in the JW Marriott and has hotel prices, but comes with high quality ingredients, preparation, and service. I had an arugula salad with blood orange that was a very nice mix of tastes. The greens tasted absolutely fresh and the slivers of percorino were delicious. I had a knockout tortellini dish which was comprised of about 6 small tortellinis that tasted homemade and yet had a crispiness to them, but melt in your mouth delicious filling. Absolutely delicious Capon broth made the meal an alternative to soup. I concluded with a wonderful cheese plate of 4 selections - 2 gorgonzolo which were particularly good, but I could do without the brie.
Good beers on draft and great Italian wine list. Worth a try.2/19/2013 12:00:00 AMA Restaurant Like No OtherThe ambiance was perfect for a romantic dinner or special occassion. The bar area was well-lit and created a nice atmosphere for a business casual dinner or to simply relax and watch a game at the bar. The dining room area was the idea spot for a special dinner. The lighting was lower and the noise was low. The service here was wonderful. Whether it was our waitress serving us or the management staff attending to our needs, they were very attentive and provided superior service. The ribeye was tender and juicy. The spaghetti was cooked to perfection and the sauce had a lot of flavor. Drinks from the bar were promptly served and mixed well. The tiramisu was sweet and flavorful.2/16/2013 12:00:00 AM
