A word from The Fishery
BEHIND EVERY GREAT SEAFOOD RESTAURANT IS A WAREHOUSE STOCKED WITH FRESH SEAFOOD.
The Fishery Restaurant & Market is located just a few blocks from the ocean in North Pacific Beach.
The restaurant menu reflects ‘coastal cuisine’ with a simple yet serious focus on the best our coastal fisheries and local farms have to offer. The passion that drives Chef Paul Arias is evidenced by flavors that can only be achieved using ingredients at their peak of seasonality and freshness.

The Fishery Market showcases fresh fish, prepared seafood, salads, sauces and marinades. Wine, bread & specialty foods also available.

Diner Reviews
  • "Great fresh. Good selection. Enjoyable dinner with friends"

  • "This restaurant has great ambiance, great service, and great fish dinners. The menu can be pricey, but there are less expensive options to choose from. The presentation is always beautiful. I had the swordfish tacos and was very happy with the dinner. The clam chowder soup was also very delicious. So is the bread- they give you both whole wheat sour dough and white sour dough, yum."

  • "The Fishery is a fabulous spot for seafood in Pacific Beach and possibly in all of San Diego! Great food, great service, great dessert!!"

  • "Parts of the meal were great. Service was spot on and prices were reasonable. Had a seared ono dish that was just Ok. The fish was grilled and it seemed just a tad overcooked. I liked the place, but the actual execution of the dishes could have been a little more skillful."

  • "This was our first time at this restaurant and we were sorry we had not gone sooner! The dinning room is lovely with high ceilings, large windows open to the shaded patio and the kitchen on full view. Our server was attentive, informative and very helpful with menu and wine selections. We shared a starter of ahi poke and a roasted beet and orange salad. Both were delicious and generously sized. Husband had the tuna belly schnitzel and my choice was the chilean sea bass. They were both excellent! We'll be coming back soon!!"

  • "We were celebrating a milestone birthday and the staff made it even better. The food was fabulous, dessert delicious and the neighborhood atmosphere was delightful. We will be going back there on our next trip to San Diego."

  • "Decent crowd for the Tuesday Tasting! Servers were polite, but not overly solicitous. (This is a good thing.)"
    Dined on 9/9/2014
  • "The Fishery is always reliable for perfectly prepared delicious food, but the Tuesday Tasting consistently goes beyond. It is great value for money, but most important, it is always a special occasion and a great opportunity to see what a brilliant chef can do with excellent ingredients and extraordinary skill. Food of this quality is rarely achieved in San Diego at any price. Be sure to reserve and specify the Tuesday Tasting Menu, as it often sells out."

  • "All the food here is fresh and of a high standard . The service is generally good and friendly."

  • "A relax classy place with fantastic food, every bite is full of flavor, the service is very friendly, the portions are hearty. We are becoming regulars!"

  • "My friends and I were visiting from Arizona and went here to celebrate my birthday. Several of us started with clam chowder which was okay, but not remarkable. I decided to have appetizers for dinner and was very disappointed with the crab cakes, which were small, heavily breaded and had very little crab filling. (Thank goodness I was able to enjoy a large, moist and crab-filled cake at Anthony's Grotto the next day .). That's all I ate, so I can't comment on dinner dishes that likely led others to give good reviews. My friends liked their salads, sandwiches, etc. but were not overly impressed. The service was very good and other diners appeared to be enjoying themselves, so maybe a follow up visit would yield a different result."

  • "If you love to taste food and wine then this is a must do. The Fishery does a Tuesday tasting of food and wine at a reasonable price that is fantastic. The chef and the staff do a fantastic job and I will return as often as I can"

  • "This restaurant looks (and smells) fairly similar to The Fish Market in Sea Port Village. I enjoyed the fresh, delicious food and solid service, but there is the unmistakable smell when you walk in, along with the loud setting. Parking can be a challenge and it is several long blocks to the water."

  • "The Fishery is a really comfortable neighborhood restaurant. The fish is consistently fresh and delicious. The only fish that is frozen is the tacos and the fish chips fish. Service is routinely great."

  • "we were there for a Tuesday Tasting - 3 courses + dessert (so 4 total) for $32 add the wine pairing for $12. it was several weeks ago that i dined there with our group, but i still recall the amazing first course of gazpacho with dungeness crab - wow! that was followed by perfectly sweet local melon wrapped in a smoked halibut 'prosciutto' - another wow! 3rd course was a lovely piece of locally caught tuna (don't remember sauce/topper) followed by the most perfectly sized hot chocolate lava cake with a scoop of homemade ice cream. the member of our party who didn't have the tasting menu had the Spaghetti & Swordfish Meatballs. she thought it was great but i found the meatballs odd (fish meatballs??). you just can't go wrong here!"

  • "Reel them in. You will want to if you are in San Diego. Started with the Fishery Roll. Delish and as good as any top rate sushi establishment . Classic Ceaser was very good and had that perfect anchovie background. Macadamia nut crusted Halibut was moist and really fresh and flavorful. We are only here 1 month out of the year but the Fishery is now part of our repertoire ."

  • "Delicious food! Excellent service! Great wine pairing!"

  • "Nice little place--great fish! Wine list pretty much limited to whites, but decent. In a residential neighborhood, so parking can be challenging."
    Dined on 8/27/2014
  • "Although, our meals...crispy shrimp and linguini were good, they did not live up to the hype for this restaurant which is a nice respite from the beer and burger joints popular at PB. This spot is attractive with an interesting menu and our service was low key and friendly. I would recommend to foodies who want to escape the bar scene."

  • "Excellent food, I had the salmon, which came with rice and a huge serving of steamed spinach! Very healthy, and it tasted very good!! All members of the party enjoyed their dishes very much. The presentation was notably nice, too."

  • "Salmon had no taste. For $30 would have thought we would have got bread or something before hand. We got a bottle of warm water. My hubby got fish and chips which he said was decent but nothing special. My family members recommended the place but I wouldn't. Too many other fabulous places. I was so looking forward to good salmon!"

  • "We were a table of 4 women looking to enjoy some wine and fresh seafood while catching up with one another. And that is exactly what we got! The waiter was very attentive, friendly, and professional. Offered great suggestions for wine pairing."

  • "the Fishery is one of my favorite restaurants. Their food is always excellent, service is always excellent, and their wine offerings are excellent. I particularly liked the Tuesday menu which has three courses, each served with a wine that they have chosen as best with that serving. The restaurant is a little pricey, but it is always a special dinner for me."

  • "We love this place. Outside is best!! Inside, a little loud but great place to eat!"

  • "The Fishery has always been a local favorite of mine, but I had never done the tasting menu before until this visit. It was outstanding!! Every flavor and each dish was delicious. There are 3 courses (plus dessert) & servings are perfectly sized - not too big or too small for onlyl $32. You can not get a good meal, let alone a great meal like this one anywhere else. I highly recommend. The rest of the menu is always great too if you don't like an item on the tasting menu (which is only done on Tuesdays)."

  • "An excellent dining option if you are in LaJolla to Pacific Beach area. Fresh seafood options and a relaxing atmosphere......cool bartender as well."

  • "We had a nice dinner with friends at The Fishery. It was tough finding a place to park on the street on a Saturday night, but I didn't downgrade my rating for this. It is a neighborhood restaurant, so the street parking is expected. I had the special (halibut cheeks), and it was very good. The server offered several gluten free options and was knowledgeable, so I felt comfortable eating here and will go back again. Our friends said that it can be noisy, but it wasn't noisy the night we were there. It was a very nice experience."

  • "My fiance and I went here for our 3 year anniversary. We had a wonderful time and the food was amazing. Our server, Jonah, was incredibly attentive and nice (he even gave us a dessert for the special occasion). We weren't rushed out after we finished at all but were told that the table was ours until we were ready to leave."

  • "I love that ingredients are fresh and seasonal. The seafood is amazingly fresh and the restaurant includes a seafood counter (adds a bit of a fishy smell to restaurant, but it IS The Fishery), so you can purchase fresh fish to take home and cook as well. I loved the ahi poke salad and my daughter had the best tuna melt ever (only on the lunch menu). We would definitely recommend and return."

  • "Food was fresh, well prepared and the service staff was friendly and knowledgeable. Sat outside which made for a relaxing evening. We discovered as the evening went on and tables filled up that the inside of the restaurant was very loud. We look forward to a return visit."

  • "Had the almondcrusted halibut. It was the best fish I have had in a long time. So good. The rest of the food was realy good as well. Great fish tacos too but they can do so much more. Nice relaxed ambience."

  • "You will not be disappointed. I had the scallops and my date had the tuna belly. Both dishes were excellent. We shared and couldn't decide which one was best. We also had the mussles for an appetizer. These are made with sausage and were very tasty. If I lived in PB, I might be visiting this place weekly."
