A word from The Fishery
BEHIND EVERY GREAT SEAFOOD RESTAURANT IS A WAREHOUSE STOCKED WITH FRESH SEAFOOD. The Fishery Restaurant & Market is located just a few blocks from the ocean in North Pacific Beach. The restaurant menu reflects ‘coastal cuisine’ with a simple yet serious focus on the best our coastal
fisheries and local farms have to offer. The passion that drives Chef Paul Arias is evidenced by flavors that can only be achieved using ingredients at their peak of seasonality and freshness. The Fishery Market showcases fresh fish, prepared seafood, salads, sauces and marinades. Wine, bread & specialty foods also available.

Chef Paul is fantastic. Very
creative and does wonders with the food. It is fresh and very tasty. I would recommend all the dishes, but the Tuesday night special is a must. Every time I come there he outdoes himself. The wine parings are very good and reasonably priced. Everyone I recommended has raved about the food and service. If you live nearby, it is a must. If not, it is worth the trip."

The food, the presentation and the
staff were all outstanding. We both had the evening prix fixe special a four course sampler of perfectly portioned plates. We will definitely return."

Our waiter was really bad. He even
brought our main course before our oysters and we had a problem getting more wine. The food was good, but he really ruined the experience."

THis was our first time at the
Fishery and we will be back again. Food was excellent and fresh. Megan made us feel right at home."

Too bad there isn't convenient
parking-the only thing holding me back from going more often."

Had an opportunity to lunch here
and can say "thumbs up" to the overall experience. Lunch menu has many fresh fish options and the tuna melt on sourdough did not disappoint. Coleslaw that comes with the fish and chips is light and crunchy, which is preferred over the heavy creamy based option, and the chips were skinny fries, which were good too. Only caveat is that the fish is breaded and not dipped in a batter, so that was a bit of a surprise. Service was attentive in that we got a check back to make sure we were happy and water glasses were refilled. I will def go back again to check out some of the other menu items. They also have a great market where you can buy seafood to take home."

Menu is not vast, but every dish
done to perfection. Party of 6, so we swapped entrees around - everything was delicious. Great seafood. Service was politeful and prompt."
Dined on 2/15/2014
We had a very good dinner here. It
was not the best meal I have every had, but it was really good. The ambience was nice and the service was very good. I would recommend it to others."
Dined on 2/15/2014
It was our first time at The
Fishery and everything was just great. Service was very attentive and the food was first rate. Unfortunately, like most restaurants in San Diego, the noise level got progressively higher as more and more people showed up for dinner. It would be nice to find a quality restaurant that was truly intimate."

I've been to the Fishery several
times - NEVER disappointed! We came for the Valentine's Day pre-fixe menu and wine pairing which was outstanding. The quality of the food, the flavors, and the wine to fit was all excellent. It's fun to know how good seafood can be! I service was good - but for the price I would have hoped for a little bit more friendly and attentive experience. We had to ask a few times for water - plates were asked to be cleared before we were finished - etc. Not a big deal, but I have had better previous experiences. I will absolutely, return - I am so glad I am right around the corner from this amazing seafood restaurant! Cheers!"

Been there several times before
and ALWAYS pleased with the food, wine and service. Our only negative comment is the chef really needs to pay closer attention to the waiters order. This is the 2nd time we had to send our entree back because the chef prepared the dish the way he normally prepares it, instead of the way we ordered it (and the way the waiter, Jeremy specified). Jeremy provided outstanding service and made our experience outstanding. The final outcome was a great as always, and we will keep coming back time and time again!!!"

I started with a half dozen
oysters - very tasty from the east coast. I had wild king salmon miso and my wife had macadamia crusted halibut. Both dishes were excellent as were the accompaniments and service was very speedy and efficient. Both our wines were also very good. We shared a dessert (molten chocolate cake with peanut and caramel ice cream) that was a great ending to a very good meal. We'll be back!"

Was looking for a nice Seafood
restaurant I'd eaten at before in San Diego & mistakenly thought it was The Fishery. Great mistake!! Wife & I ordered Tues. Taste menu. Started with crusted oysters & sushi. Both were outstanding!! Next a carrot salad that was refreshing, followed by a Mahi Mahi entree that was wonderful & closed with a Olive Oil cake that was pedestrian. Kids had shrimp & chips (our fussy 6 yr. old liked it) & mussels (our not fussy 8 yr. old Loved them). Waiter was Great. Friendly but not over the top, helpful, he recommended an Indian Pale Ale that was a highlight, and was available when needed. Overall impression, we will make a point of re-visiting The Fishery on future visits to San Diego, and recommend it to friends."

Shared some appetizers of clams
and ceviche. Two of us had crab fettucini and the third had grilled swordfish , all dishes were great. Finished off with some port along with tiramisu panacotta and creme brule. Will come back."

We were very pleased with our
Thursday night dinner at the Fishery. Attached to a fish market, this low-key eatery has the atmosphere of a classic east coast sea food restaurant. We both had fish entrees--Boucetta and Halibut--as well as crab cakes and New England clam chowder. Preparation was perfect on the fish, crab cakes were densly packed with crab, and the chowder was perfectly seasoned if somewhat light on clams. Portion sizes were appropriate. Atmosphere is casual but nice, wood paneled walls, photos of the fishing industry, solid light wood tables and chairs--like a classic east coast fish house--but with an upscale CA casual family friendly vibe. The wine list was good, with reasonably priced offerings by the glass."

Our meal began with St. James
River oysters on the half shell. Oysters were beautifully prepared and scrumptious. Next course was Cesar Salads replete with anchovies.I had fresh Dungeness crab served fettuchine in an Alfredo Sauce. My other guests had Mahi Mahi in a pomegranate BBQ sauce, macadamia crusted halibut, and wild Mexican shrimp. All the dishes got rave reviews. My one guest from Arizona said the Fishery was his new favorite restaurant. Excellent selection of microbrew draft beers and a extensive wines list. We enjoyed a bottle of Albarino with our meal. A truly amazing dinner."

seasonal ingredients and produces. Recommended for any especial occaccion, time and day."

We had the Tubot & the Halibut,
explosion of flavors, reasonably sized plates, nice presentations... almost perfect !"

This is a gem of a restaurant. It
was a combination of having the ambiance of a neighborhood place that served outstanding food, a nice wine list, and really nice people working there. I travel a great deal and only a "select few" restaurants make it to my "would return again" list. The Fishery has earned a spot on that list."
Dined on 1/9/2014
have no complaints and that says a
lot these days as diners seem to find things wrong a lot. Not me, not here! if you want FRESH fish, sink your line into this restaurant."
Dined on 12/30/2013
My wife and I took my mom to
dinner. Why? Because the food is always great and fresh! We have been there a few times and plan on going back again in the future!!!!!"
Dined on 11/26/2013
I think the food is pretty good.
Main dish portions and salads are rather small and seem overpriced. Need some more items on the menu that fit into the mid-price range."
Dined on 12/28/2013
Excellent. We come here each year
for our anniversary and we live in Denver."

The Fishery delivers an excellent
dinner every time-- the food- the staff- the environment-- Can not go wrong here--"

We found The Fishery on Trip
Advisor and decided to check it out. The restaurant was authentic, pleased to see it wasn't touristy. Parking was a challenge but the food makes up for that. I had the halibut and my husband the yellowtail. Delicious and artistic! They also have a great selection of local craft beers."
Dined on 12/21/2013
The food was flavorful, reasonable
portions, very fresh! Service great, very attentive yeah Jeremy! We will be going back."
Dined on 12/15/2013
Great food, wonderful atmosphere &
outstanding service! The food is consistently excellent - The Fishery is our "go to" place whether its just for us or entertaining family and friends - Absolutely the BEST!"
Dined on 12/14/2013
Consistently, one of the best
places in San Diego for seafood"

We really enjoyed our dinner and
experience. Nice ambiance, great service, delicious. We will be back!"

The history of the
building/business/restaurant/owners makes you feel like you are participating an a long tradition of gathering and eating fresh fish. The quality of the fish and the preparation were flawless. My wife, who is not a fish lover, raved about her halibut dish."
Dined on 12/4/2013
on my reservation I wrote that it
was my boyfriend's birthday. they completely ignored it and did not even wish him Happy birthday even when the waiter heard me pick up the check "because it's your birthday" The seabream I ordered was the driest I have ever had, and the smallest piece. That said, the appetizers, were generous and good, but on the bland side. The sorbet was disappointing. It was easy to find non dairy items on the menu. They put us by the cash register and I had to hear clinking of coins as the cash was being counted up for the night around 8?"

Ever since we moved to La Jolla
last summer, we've been coming to the Fishery 3-4 times a month and the food as well as the service is amazing, each and every time. From the welcoming hostesses to the attentive servers and bus boys, lunch or dinner at the Fishery is a more than satisfying experience. The presentation is truly beautiful and showcases the dishes well. The quality of the fish is first rate, always fresh, and masterfully prepared. The noise level is pretty high even when the restaurant isn't fully booked however that seems to be the case at many other newer restaurants in San Diego and it's just something we have to deal with if we want to enjoy great food. Overall though, we absolutely love the Fishery!!"

We were looking for a seafood
place in the SD area and we were not disappointed. The Seabass was expertly cooked with a great presentation. My wife had the fish tacos and she said they were over garnished with very little fish. Mussels were great although we have had better."
Dined on 11/29/2013
The Fishery can be counted on to
serve well-prepared fresh fish at moderate prices. The fish chowder is delicious and the sides are also very good. When the restaurant is busy the noise level is a bit high, but we dined at 6:00 p.m. on a Saturday, which was early enough to avoid a full house."
Dined on 11/23/2013
Feels like a neighborhood
restaurant. Not overcrowded but reservations on a Fri or Sat good idea. Street parking, but had no trouble finding a close spot. Food was amazing. We had the halibut and sea bass. Both fish dishes were beautifully presented, very fresh and absolutely delicious. Some of the best fish I have eaten anywhere. If you are in the San Diego area where there are lots of seafood restaurants, I don't think you will find a place better than The Fishery."
Dined on 11/22/2013
Never been disappointed. Been
going here for over a decade every time I'm in town (1-2x per year). Great seafood. Really liked the prix fixe menu paired with wine - a great deal too."
Dined on 11/12/2013
Great fresh fish! The grilled ono
special was truly special. If looking for a unique neighborhood spot this is it!"
Dined on 11/9/2013
Celebrating a special date and had
one of the best fish dinners ever. We saw a dish at another table and were told it was not on the menu but had been specially prepared for that guest. When we asked if the chef would recreate it for us, he did. Delicious!"
Dined on 11/7/2013
I have not been here in a while
and only go once or twice a year. I have NEVER had a bad meal or experience here. Took friends from out of town--everybody loved it! Shared clams and an Andy roll for starters--both great. The seabass was exclellent. I had the grilled yellow tail with pomegranite BBQ sauce---WOW! My fish came with an excellent arugula salad sprinked with pome seeds and tiny potatoes in a O&V dressing that was perfect! Great wines and beers too. Service was fast and friendly. Fun!"

Wonderfully fresh seafood. Great
sides. Nice wine list. And nice vibe. I will return."
