Visited Vancouver with family and was seeking a casual local place for seafood. Fish Shack was perfect - food was great and service was lovely. We were there for an early dinner and the atmosphere was kid/family friendly. We'll definitely return when we're next in Vancouver!

Seafood was very fresh & good and waitress was very kind & nice. I also order two more dishes to go after dining, however, they didn't give me the right amount of food at beginning (I ordered two dishes to go and they only gave me one), and at the end, they forgot to give me the baguette which came with my steamer dish! I found out when I arrived home and felt quite disappointed of this miss out.

Overall the food and service was good. Staff was more than helpful and courteous. There was no need for music to be so loud. It was an obstruction to conversation, dinner and even in placing an order.

We were in downtown Vancouver and this restaurant was recommended to us. Fun place albeit very noisy by the end of the night. Had great grilled salmon, but portions are a bit on the small size. Good desserts, but had to wait ages for them. Nice decor, slightly dodgy area.

What happened? It used to be such a fun place with good food and great service. Definitely one of my favourites at one time. This most recent experience was disappointing. I'm not even going to bother with the food review. The entire experience began and ended with our server. He was abrupt and practically demanded our drink orders. But it's entirely a new experience when the bartender(?) comes up and serves a drink we ordered and stated, "I thought I'd bring this up here because your server forgot." Awesome. I'm just going to fast forward to the end when we were paying our bill. Our server SAT DOWN AT OUR TABLE while we paid. YES. HE SAT DOWN. Then he started to complain to us about his double-shift. Seriously? Such a shame Fish Shack...

I was looking forward to the Fish Shack, it's a Glowbal restaurant so I was hopeful it would be tasty and I was seriously letdown. My lobster was cold, tough and small and our server didn't seem to know much about anything. They couldn't even log into their computer system to check our reservation.

We arrived before 6 p.m. and ordered numerous appetizers which were half price - all were delicious, especially the baked oysters in garlic butter and the calamari. All the seafood tasted fresh and was well cooked. Service was very good. Wine was only $5.00 a glass at that time, which made it a very reasonable cost meal before the theatre. However, apart from the sparkling white (excellent), wine is served in thick tumblers - good wine but just doesn't taste quite the same without a stem glass. My first time at this restaurant but I look forward to returning soon.

This is the place to go in Yaletown for seafood. Packed at 7PM. Varieties and selections change, but all appeared top quality and deliciously prepared. Everyone seemed to be enjoying their orders from grilled, to fried, to steamers, to raw, to specials. I enjoyed a few premium oysters. My partner had a pound of steamed mussels that looked to be three pounds. The halibut special was perfectly done with jasmine basil rice. Two parties on either side of us were chowing on huge portions of mixed grills consisting of clams, mussels, lobster, crab, oysters, scallops and shrimp with ear corn and fresh bread for dipping in the sauce of the total concoction. Top notch service, as well. A must do in Yaletown. You won't be disappointed.

Girlfriends and I ventured to Glowbal's The Fish Shack for an evening of Happy Hour and conversation. We made reservations for 5pm so we could still get the Happy Hour specials of 50% off appetizers, a Buck a shuck of oysters and $5 drinks! it was a match made in heaven! The oysters were delicious for two of us since we were the only two diners whom eat it. We tried, the salmon crab cakes (mostly salmon though), prawn cocktail (only 3 large prawns ~ thank goodness it was 50% off) and the calamari! Would we dine there again? Absolutely. Service was excellent and attentive!

Really liked the Menu here, there was a great range of seafood offerings. The vibe was fun as well, i could see myself stopping in there again for beers after work. The deep fried oysters were the highlight and we had the big catch for our main meal. The flavors were delicious but i wish our server had given me more warning before she dumped in all the drawn butter, i would have preferred to keep that out of there. We couldn't help but compare this to the Crab Pot in Seattle - don't, or you will be disappointed. Price wise it makes the Fish Shack seem like a total rip off although the flavors were better here.

First time at this restaurant, server was ok, spilled sauce down my friends purse and menus on the table, he was embarrassed and cleaned it all up. Took a while for us to get drinks, ordered the buck a shuck, found a lot of shells in my oysters. Popcorn shrimp was disappointing, the batter wasn't crunchy and fell off, crab cakes were good. There's a lot of competition in Vancouver for oysters, think I'd rather try somewhere else before going back, if I go back.

Although we had made a reservation and our table was clearly available, the hostess made it very obvious she did not care to seat us right away. She went about "taking care of" trivial stuff before she came back to us, apologizing "for the wait" If this establishment is going to charge that kind of money for the awful quality of food, there are a lot of cheaper places that serve far more decent food. It was a waste of my gift card. Had we known, we would have just spent it on drinks only.

Overall, food was ok, our server is very kind and helpful!! Except when she made a wrong order, one of the bar server was very rude about it. The bar server came back with the right order and just slide the food on to out table and left, without saying anything!! Even though our server did came back and make sure we are ok with everything, that bar server just totally ruined my appetitie for the night!!!

I was pro-active and made reservations to the restaurant ahead of time. We've liked the food there in our previous experiences and our friends had wanted to try. When we got to the restaurant, we told the hostess that we had the booking. She apologized and told us that someone had taken our reservations but that she had a table leaving and we will be seated promptly. I was unhappy that they didn't check phone numbers with the guest before giving the table to them. This meant we had to wait, something I tried to avoid by making the reservations. What annoyed me more was when that table she spoke of did leave, it was not cleaned immediately, and we spent another 10 minutes staring at it until another waitress asked if we were helped.

I have been to three other Glowbal restaurants and had wonderful experiences, the service, food and atmosphere were great. However my experience at the Fish Shack was far from good. We got sat along the wall in a table so close to the ones beside us that it felt like we were eating with the other couples. We asked to move which the hostess was clearly not very happy about. I waited probably 15 minutes for a refill on my water and couldn't get anyones attention was ready to walk up to the bar myself and ask. My baked potato was cold and the lobster was luke warm. The restaurant was tastefully decorated but the the food and service did not live up to the Glowbal name. Would not go back.

Having been to Fish Shack many times before, the quality of food was no surprise to me. My fellow diners thoroughly enjoyed their dishes and were very pleased with the recommendation. The place was packed with many people waiting outside. The poor servers were running around trying to handle the dinner crowd. There appeared to be three servers for the entire restaurant. It was difficult to get service (needed a wet napkin), but I understood why. The food has been delicious every time I have been to FS and would return.

Our pre-teen son selected the Fish Shack for a family outing to celebrate our anniversary. He was looking for something casual that appealed to everyone in the family. The Fish Shack has a bit of a split personality... it is trying to be an upscale fish + chips joint but doesn't deliver on the food side of the equation. You have a choice between traditional fish & chips or a grilled/blackened preparation. While the traditional was okay, the fish portions were very space. On the upscale side, the serving was tiny and the special was served with lumpy rice and a very small green salad. Not a very good plate for $20. Overall we were disappointed in spending $150 on a meal of "fish and chips" that was simply ordinary.

Didn't have a problem getting a reservation, was seated quickly upon arriving and had our drinks ordered and delivered back to us promptly and our food tasted amazing! Would so recommend the house Caesar to any of my friends, it was so well made that I had to have another. Went here for buck a shuck on a Sunday afternoon and had a great time. We ordered a dozen oysters, steamers, seafood bisque, and clam chowder and everything was delicious! The fries were amazing as well (came with the steamers)! There is something about their fries that made it memorable for me. It was nicely seasoned and nice and crispy (but not too crispy). It was perfect. Our server was fantastic! It got pretty busy so we were waiting for our oysters for quite a while and he actually came up to us to explain why it was taking a while without us having to ask him. Overall, a great place and will definitely be back.

It's a funky restaurant/bar with a fun vibe. We arrived early and were promptly provided a table, told about the half price appys and drinks orders taken. However I was disappointed that our table was under the lip of the working bar. It was uncomfortable when the bar tender/appy chef was preparing drinks and food which spilled on to the table (however, to his credit he later moved to another surface). Moving the table away from the wall would assist with this also. As for the food- it was ok- flavours matched well, but the portion sizes were not consistent- I got the salmon and was provided a whole piece, while my mum got the snapper and was given two tiny pieces that could have been one broken in half. An ok experience overall.
