The Fish MarketNothing Fishy about the Fish MarketThe Fish Market on the water is a wonderful place to have dinner. The fish is extremely fresh and reasonably priced. My husband and I ate at the establishment because of the ambiance (great outside patio over looking the water) - we had two fantastic sunset dinners where we lingered and enjoyed our meals. We tried the sashimi, sword fish, clams, prawns, and shrimp. Not one item was smelly or tough. All of the ingredients were fresh. The atmosphere is very energetic, sometimes too noisy, but just ask for a more quiet location. Make reservations ahead of time if you want to eat around sunset. The deck area is great for before dinner drinks and/or if you want to have dinner. We look forward to eating there again on our next visit to SD.5/18/2013 12:00:00 AMAwesome SeafoodGreat seafood selection, servers know the selections well, good wine and beer. We want to try the oyster bar on the next visit.5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMFood was good, service wasFood was good, service was great, views outstanding. We were seated on enclosed patio and although great views, it was very loud. Crying children especially distracting.5/3/2013 12:00:00 AMI've always loved this place!I've always loved this place! This night, the service was superior to any other time that ate here.4/9/2013 12:00:00 AMVibrant and busy MarketI accompanied my wife on a business trip to San Diego, and one of my tasks was to find good places to eat. The Fish Market is in all of the travel guides and websites, was within walking distance from our hotel, and since we both love seafood it was an obvious choice.
The setting is beautiful and right on the water. The menu was varied and easy to read, and the food was very good. Pricing was reasonable.
The only thing that surprised me was how very busy the whole place was. It is not a place to go have a quiet, relaxed dinner. There are tables full of people having a good time, and the staff are always on the move. That being said, I would certainly look forward to eating there again.4/6/2013 12:00:00 AMFish tilapia and oystrer wereFish tilapia and oystrer were amazing. You must visit this place for lunch and ask for the closed patio. Thr view is amazing all weather and food is excellent. Thr service is also good and quick. The servers are friendly. One of the best places in San Diego.4/6/2013 12:00:00 AMJust what we were looking for...Great way to end a day of whale watching at San Diego harbor. Extensive menu made it hard to choose! Very fresh fish and nice waiters. Not a fancy restaurant but we loved it.4/3/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat business lunch place! This was just right for a business lunch discussion. We were earlier than many but parking could be a problem later in noon hour.4/1/2013 12:00:00 AMWe ate downstairs in the FishWe ate downstairs in the Fish Market which is actually different than the pricier upstairs "Top of the Market" restaurant. We had made reservations so did not have long to wait for a table overlooking the bay. The restaurant has old fishing photos everywhere which were fun to look at and added to the atmosphere. The seafood was excellent and very fresh. And there is actually a fish market on site.4/1/2013 12:00:00 AMWe loved the view from ourWe loved the view from our table of the harbor. The we had the ceviche and the east coast clam bake of which both were very good and we would order them again. One of our party ordered the sliders and was very impressed with them. Service was prompt and accomodating with all our questions about the menu. When me mentioned to friends we went to the Fish Market they agreed it was a very nice restaurant. The only challenge was the parking.3/31/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent place to bring friendsExcellent place to bring friends and family to dine from out of town. Food is great and healthy for people watching calories and fats.3/31/2013 12:00:00 AMTook my Mother to the FishTook my Mother to the Fish Market for lunch on her birthday this past weekend. The hostess was great and even greeted my Mother with, "Happy Birthday, Mom."
We enjoyed our view of the Bay and Coronado from our window seats in the covered patio- watched seals play in the water along with kids fishing. Restaurant was busy but not too crowded and service was outstanding. Food tasted fresh, not at all salty or overly spiced- a nice, healthy lunch with good portions.3/30/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat service on on a busyGreat service on on a busy Friday night. Excellent seafood cocktails and sashimi.3/29/2013 12:00:00 AMi took my wife there for anniversari took my wife there for anniversary and used the flower service that open table suggested.
The experience was outstanding. There is one issue that should be noted. There are 2 restaurants here. FishMarket and Top of the Market. Top of the Market is upstairs, more upscale, more expensive, less crowed etc. We went to Top of the market, so this would apply to that part of the establishment. The service was great, they provided excellent service, they were very busy because it was good friday, i like the valet, because its very busy down there...and at the lower level restaurant. doing valet and eating on the top floor is worth it for a special occasion, i would do lunch downstairs with friends or co-workers but not for anniversary.3/29/2013 12:00:00 AMAll the fish are good , butAll the fish are good , but tilapia with cajun is the best I have had.3/17/2013 12:00:00 AMAs out-of-towners we wereAs out-of-towners we were told that the Fish Market was the place to take friends and family for special occasions. It did not disappoint. I had requested in my Open Table reservation a "view table" and we were seated with a great view of the bay, where while dining we could watch dolphins and sailboats and a lovely sunset. Our server was gracious and helpful, and the food came out quickly and was very good. The house white wine proved to be great value. All-in-all a convivial and lovely evening.3/14/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat time!Although we arrived early for our reservation, Danielle made every effort to accommodate us with a window table. We waited just a few moments and were escorted to a very nice table. It's a great place to take visitors as the food is consistently great!3/11/2013 12:00:00 AMNever DisappointsThe Fish Market never disappoints, their quality reputation is built on years of providing fresh, delicious seafood. Once again, a great, innovative martini, followed by succulent oysters and my favorite clam chowder. For entrees, mahi mahi that transcended all others. Just a lovely Eal with a stunning view from the topside patio.1/21/2013 12:00:00 AM
