We have been to Charlotte twice and have dined here twice. While we haven't been to many restaurants in town, I feel confident in saying this is THEE best in the city. Ambiance, service, food... all top notch. Great eye appeal and delicious flavors. Excellent wine list and goid cocktails.

This was our second time to The Fig Tree. Zach was our server with exceptional eye to detail. He had good suggestions for our meal, pairing wine and dessert. One of the top restaurants in Charlotte!

We celebrated our 21st anniversary with dinner at The Fig Tree and had a fantastic time all around. Our server was supremely attentive and knowledgeable and recommended just the right wine to accompany our meal. They also split our two entrees (the Elk Chop and Sea Bass) evenly on our plates which was a nice touch. We also had the scallop appetizer which was outstanding. Our only complaint is that we ate too much of their amazing foccaccia and couldn't quite finish our main meals!

We go back every year for our anniversary and it never disappoints. Great service, excellent food and large wine selection. Always enjoy our dinner. Usually have the elk chops and they are perfect. Dessert selection is really good as well. Always enjoy our dinners at the Fig Tree!!!

I celebrated my birthday here and decided to go with the private upstairs room. The service was absolutely amazing. The food and beverages were equally amazing. In taste and presentation. All of my friends enjoyed their time and selections. I definitely intend to be back, and recommend visiting to experience it first hand.

FAQs

For a quieter experience, choose an early weekday dinner or an early weekend seating; guests say midweek evenings are less crowded. If you want lively energy and special events, Friday/Saturday nights and wine‑and‑food dinners draw a crowd. Reservations are recommended either way.

Specific waiting‑list policies aren’t published, but guests report busy weekend nights and special events, reservations are strongly recommended. If you can’t get a reservation, call the restaurant directly; staff sometimes accommodate late additions or suggest alternate times.

Families do dine here, and guests sometimes bring teens or celebrate birthdays with children. The Fig Tree’s focus is fine dining and seafood/steaks, so there isn’t a kids’ menu; portions are generous, though. If visiting with younger children, consider an early seating, patio table or call ahead to discuss table placement.

The Fig Tree occupies a restored bungalow with multiple intimate rooms, an upstairs smaller dining room (some guests call it a cozy ‘bedroom’ room), a bar area and a covered porch/al fresco seating. Guests report semi‑private rooms upstairs and a pleasant patio for outdoor dining.

Business casual is recommended. The owner lists a business casual dress code, and guests typically dress up for special occasions, many wear smart casual or nicer attire for anniversaries and celebrations.

Busiest: weekend evenings and special wine‑and‑food events. Quietest: early weekday dinners or early‑week evenings. Guests who want a low‑key meal often request early seatings or ask for a smaller room; large parties and wine dinners drive the busiest nights.

Hours are listed for regular dinner service nightly, and guests report special‑occasion service on holidays (Valentine’s Day, Christmas period). Holiday openings can vary, so call ahead or check the restaurant’s booking channels for specific holiday hours and special menus.

Yes, The Fig Tree is a classic choice for a romantic date night. Guests repeatedly praise the intimate, historic-house setting, quiet tables, attentive service and an extensive wine list. Expect fine‑dining portions, thoughtful plating and theatrical desserts (tableside Baked Alaska, beignets, banana‑pudding cheesecake). For a cozy evening, ask for a porch or smaller dining room and consider reservations for prime weekend times.

Warm, intimate and classic, guests describe a historic, cozy bungalow setting with low noise levels ideal for date nights or business dinners. The atmosphere ranges from lively during wine events to quietly romantic in smaller rooms and on the porch. Service is frequently called attentive and professional, adding to the refined vibe.

Yes, guests frequently note that the team handles celebration touches (handwritten cards, complimentary sweets, ‘Happy Birthday’ plates) and dietary accommodations. Call ahead to discuss seating, allergies, menu modifications or celebratory requests so the staff can prepare.

Partly, families and multi‑generation groups do dine here (many guests celebrate birthdays and anniversaries with children/teens). If accessibility needs or a family‑friendly table are important, call ahead to confirm seating and any mobility accommodations.

The restaurant does not advertise a dedicated private‑dining room, but guests and the staff do accommodate private parties and semi‑private spaces in the house for celebrations.
