Diner Reviews
  • "This restaurant was very nice and elegant. It was a little bit dark inside, but it was very nice overall. It looks very classy for a fancy dinner or a friend gathering place. The food was amazing and perfectly priced! Everyone that works here made us feel very welcome and special :) I will definitely be coming back here again."

  • "Great good....awesome service...amazing atmosphere! I can't wait to go back."

  • "The burgers are awesome. The fish and chips not so much. There was more breading than fish. Fish flavor was good, but seriously, batter on fish was heavier than the few pieces of fish. The fries are great too. Desserts are good too."

  • "there is a valet sign outside of the restaurant bur the valets station themselves across the street. when u retrieve ur car, you have to go across the street to get it. restaurant is in a beautiful building. a lot of delicious, high fat bar food. we tried the chili (meaty, slightly spicy), poutine (fries with gravy and meat on it), burger, salad (very fresh with lots of veggies), blue cheese sliders. We liked everything. they need to have someone pick up empty plates. our empty dishes just sat there even when they were bringing new plates. the red velvet cupcake was a little dry, could have been old. But the other food was delicious and we want to go & try more items"

  • "We enjoyed the Federal Bar. Why? They seated right on time. The servers were attentive from the beginning until we left. The food was delicious. And the beer choices were terrific."

  • "One couple had the chicken and waffles to share and with the chocolate peanut butter pie it was filling and good. I shared the tomatoe soup with a whole grilled cheese more than enough and tasty too. Husband had the OMG burger which was burning hot. He eats the jalapeño burger with pepper bacon at Stacked all the time this was 5x hotter."

  • "My boyfriend and I planned surprise dates for one another this weekend. My day was Friday & his Satutday. We went to happy hour at a near by resturant but I hated that there were so many flies so that was a huge down fall. After we went to the aquarium which was the highlight of the evening. We then walked to federal and this was our first time there and it was very noisy. I had reservations and I should have asked for a booth because we were sat right in the front in between two couples. The service was okay, I just wish I would have known that miao and conversation would flood the entire place. It was hard to even have a good dinner. We had to talk over everything & although the food was good, wish I would have known."

  • "Food was mediocre. I would just go here for drinks and apps. Drinks would be my usual..not any of their specialty cocktails. I went here with a friend to catch up and it was great for that. The noise level was great to have a conversation and service was on point and friendly."

  • "The space is great! The appetizer we had was awesome! Short rib pontine over fries! Nummmmmm! Drinks were great. Burger one of ordered was good but was less than expected. Chicken and waffles were such a cool presentation... But sooo boring. A great place for ambiance and drinks!"

  • "Had an excellent time at the Long Beach location. Was there to take a friend for her boozy birthday brunch and that was achieved. Really enjoyed ourselves. We had the breakfast sandwich which was excellent, and the hash breakfast with shortribs, that was also very good. Excellent beer selection, and the unlimited mimosas for the birthday girl were a deal at $15. Turns out they have a downstairs, and the place if huge, and the ambiance was lively. Will definitely return. BTW, this is not a place to bring the family."

  • "So I had the garlic chicken and it was really good."

  • "Although we had a terrific birthday dinner with some outstanding fish and short ribs, the dining room was so dark you could barely see your companion or your food. When asked for a light; a tiny electronic candle was brought to the table but it did not make a difference. The brussel sprout dish and the maple flavored sweet potato tats were fantastic and each order could serve 3-4 people as a side dish. They were yummy and still good as leftovers."

  • "Apparently you have to make sure to indicate that you want a booth when you make your reservation. When we arrived we were sat at a terrible table in the center of the room. There were 6 open booths and we requested to sit at one. The hostess initially told us that they save the booths for large parties. There is no way you can have more than 4 adults sit comfortably in a booth and there was not one table that had more than that. We spoke to the manager and he was very rude and said that they were all reserved. The hostess was then able to find us a spot at a booth. Our server, Yvette, was fantastic and she saved the entire experience. It took 1.5 hours before anyone sat at a booth. The manager needs customer service training."

  • "This resturaunt was built in a federal reserve bank with some origional details left. Themed resturant roaring 20's with flapper girl waitresses, good food, good drinks, a speaky easy in the back, dancing in basement, and an occassional burlesque show."

  • "The Federal is a gem! I've been numerous times for drinks and dinner, and atmosphere is simply awesome! You can't beat the old architecture and 1920's vibe! The food is great for both breakfast and dinner! Definitely a great date place, or for a fun night with the girls/guys!! Highly recommended!"

  • "Had a really great veggie burger but terrible service. I was the only one sitting on the patio so they forgot about me. After my food was delivered I didn't see the server again. I had to go inside and track her down to get another drink. The heat lamp stopped working and they didn't know how to fix it. Huge bummer because the wind had kicked up and it had really cooled off."

  • "The brunch menu for Sunday looked awesome, however, the Federal eggs with shortrib was very bland and tasteless. There was very little seasoning on the shortrib meat. The old bank 18' ceiling and atmosphere is what we came for and without disappointment."

  • "The decor was amazing and the food was very good. They also have good vegetarian options. I highly recommend it for a romantic date or a girls' night out."

  • "Service not so good, Even the waitress could not get help from the bar, A table sent back a glass of wine because it had lipstick on the rim, She stood there waiting, Gave up and took a towel and wiped of the lipstick and return the same glass back to the customer. I’m not going back!"

  • "Great service. Came for Sunday brunch; we all ordered something difference and everything was delicious. Super loud so if you're trying to have an intimate conversation, this is not the place. Otherwise, check it out! "

  • "The brunch selections are limited to one page, but it's the kind of menu you want to come back and try every item on - so very well-thought out. The service is attentive and friendly even during peak busy brunch hours. There are bottomless mimosas and great beers on tap. Very reasonably priced. I will definitely be back."

  • "The Federal Bar was superb in service and food. The interior decorations created a classy environment that could be for celebrations and romantic dates. The waitress for my table for the night was very insightful and helpful. She helped my table pick out what beer and wine. We were very happy with the suggestions. The food was wonderful. I didn't personally try the dessert, but my friends said it was heavenly. I will definitely recommend this place to everyone! The Parlour was also a nice scene to visit. It was different from the fast paced bars that I have visited before. The Parlour was a place you could have a conversation without screaming to be heard. "

  • "We went for the time Sunday to Federal Bar on Pine. It is beautiful. It has an interesting menu. The food was very good. We did burgers. The bun appears to be baked in-house. The Smokehouse burger tasted fabulous to this carnivore. Giant burger patty, smoked turkey, pepper bacon and pulled pork all piled high. My gosh, what a great combination. Service was good. We will go back and try this place again. "

  • "The food was horrendous .. IPA braised short rib.. Reminded me of Hometown buffet. Ribeye was butterfly-cut (without me asking for it that way) and hidden under a pound of fried onions. The ribeye was also placed on a bed of mashed potato. Their house steak sauce reminded me of Albertson's brand A1. It was a horrible meal. "

  • "The view is inside! The restaurant is a historic bank and WOW, it's beautiful! The food was very good. It's not particularly eclectic but very good. They apparently have a lot of entertainment in the evenings. I went on a Monday night and they had their first trivia night. It was fun, but pretty loud if you were looking for a romantic evening. I would definitely go again! The service was very good, too!"

  • "The staff was extremely friendly. The food was not up to my standards. the lunch entree that i ordered tasted horrible. It was a salad with cooked veggies on top. The veggies were burnt. I asked for bread. The bread was burnt."

  • "Very accommodating, cool bar, good service and great food. Cool place to grab a bite, host a party, and just hang out. The drinks can be a little spotty though. "

  • "Very impressed with the interior of this restaurant. A former bank building from way back. High ceiling, columns, and interesting wood paneling. Great small menu. Enjoyed a wedge salad that was presented with a great dressing, shape and size. Great drink selections. Service was awesome. Seated quickly and our server was knowledgeable and friendly. "

  • "Great location and good food, but service was the worst and the place was empty. The waitress didn't place on person's order into the kitchen. She would bring drinks and disappear for 15 minutes. We had to ask twice for someone to find her so we could order. She brought a warm beer. But I will say the food was good, if you could get it."

  • "Went here for the first time on a Monday. The place wasn't crowded and the service was quick and prompt. Food was good but nothing extraordinary. The big complaint I have is that they were out of about half their draft beers. Every beer I tried to order was not available. They claimed they were changing out there taps in the next couple of days. Why change out so many at one time?"

  • "Love that Happy Hour is so versatile (generally a $2.00 discount on beers/standard cocktails/all appetizers). Allows you to save a couple of bucks doing small plates....and then splurge elsewhere on dessert or their awesome signature cocktails! That, plus the 1,000 point table program has brought me back a couple of times in the past month for mid-week dinner. Service is always friendly, and I've enjoyed excellent food recommendations. Thank you!"

  • "We drove down there because we had a Travelzoo voucher that was about to expire. The location is historic and beautiful. The food was interesting, but they brought our soup, salad, and entree's all at once. I had to put my food on another table to make room. This resulted in fries being cold and my grilled cheese was hardened. The bartender/waitress was great though and gave us great service."

  • "This place is Just okay". Nothing horrible about it, but nothing great either. After all the hype, I expected more...something. Met my husband there on a Friday nite, and even with reservation we were seated at a small 2-top near the front door (drafty, and lots of people standing around to get seated.). Food and drinks were average gastro-pub. Noise level...yikes!! And the same depressing lighting as the previous restaurant. Not coming back soon!"
