  • "Oysters are fantastic! Menu is small but lovely and wine choices are good. We will definitely be back!"

  • "It's nice to have an oyster bar in Langely. The oysters were fantastic, the steelhead trout and steak were excellent. I like having a restaurant serving first class food close to home. I'll never miss the 45 minute drive into downtown Vancouver. We went to the Fat Cow on a Sunday evening. The restaurant was occupied by about 8 tables. The service was on the slow side but the food was worth the wait. We will return as our meals were well presented and delicious."

  • "Had the chicken and waffles and my wife had the steelhead trout. We started off with Mussels. Mussels were good adn i know fform Saltspring so a little small but the creme sause and the taste of the mussels was excellent. The chicken I had was the best I have tasted in a while and the bourban sause was great. The bacon waffles were so so. My wifes trout was also excellent and overall the food was in a quantity which was perfect we left full but not stuffed."

  • "My friend gave me this restaurant as a "must try". I am a foodie with a small hobby of catering occasionally. My husband and I went to this restaurant to eat before catching a movie at the Langley Colossus. Took awhile to find it being nestled in a industrial area but WOW sure glad we did!!! We were blown away!!! The food is outstanding and knowing we were eating at a organic, sustainable joint, was delightful!. The menu changes occur occasionally and there are some main fixtures to the menu that speak for themselves. Everything we have tried is outstanding! Went on a Saturday and found they had this 2 man blues band that was more than entertaining."

  • "We had heard good things about The Fat Cow and Oyster Bar some time ago, but just tried it for the first time last week. We were not disappointed. The men shared some Royal Myagi oysters which they said were very fresh and delicious; the girls (neither really fond of oysters) each tried one of the hot oysters - they were actually quite tasty. Our table of 4 enjoyed 3 different entrees...duck, pork and chicken. The portions were generous and well prepared. And although my duck confit was a little on the salty side, everything else was yummy. We had a very enjoyable evening .... the food was good, the wind was good, and the entertainment was great."

  • "When your server remembers you from your last visit and offers you the last bottle they have of the wine you enjoyed at that time, you know you've come to the right place. Food is always well-presented, delicious and local. The small staff work very hard as they are owner/operators and really want to succeed in retaining your loyalty. Not pushy or hovering as to service, go and enjoy a leisurely meal."

  • "Although in an unlikely spot (a small strip mall ) once you enter the restaurant you find yourself in a well-appointed, warm and friendly atmosphere. The staff is attentive without being intrusive. The food focuses on less well-known cuts of meat etc. but all of it prepared wonderfully. We had the BLT panzanella which is to die for, followed by the chicken with waffles. I am not usually a fan of chicken, but this was the best chicken I've had in ages, and was accompanied by, of all things, waffles with bacon and leeks. Sounds weird, but what a wonderful combination of sweet and savory. The wine list is not extensive but is very good and the house wine was excellent. Our only regret was that we had no room left for desert!"

  • "Food was great. Service was a bit slower than expected, but we were having appies and socializing so it wasn't a big deal. Staff was warm and welcoming. If it was closer to home I would go regularly. Love that ingredients are sourced as locally as possible."

  • "Since moving to Walnut Grove this has been a go to dining out experience at least 3 times a month. We bring all of our friends. Food & service are always excellent. My favourite is Oysters, followed by duck confit."

  • "We looked forward to trying theFat Cow, as we love to find little neighbourhood gems. We had heard the food was great, but service lacking. Our experience was consistent with that assessment. We were seated promptly, but waited for a server, of which there were only two on a busy Saturday night. There was no bartender, and the hostess was clearing plates. We waited for food which we saw sit on the pass bar for at least 5 minutes. Plates from our first course sat for 15 minutes after finishing. The food was excellent. I had the duck, and my wife ordered the chicken and waffles. We found it noisy, but not distracting. Live music was unexpected, but enjoyable. This could be a very nice little spot with appropriate staffing."

  • "Well it was not what we expected turning into the little neighborhood strip mall. The interior had a total downtown vibe and so refreshing to find in langley. We had a set menu so the food was a bit bland but the presentation was spot on. The oyster starter had nice flavor but still sandy unfortuately, with only one per person, it would be vital to ensure a cleaner presentation. The deconstructed salad was very pretty and flavorful but definately light. The basil sorbet with salt n pepper and honey was a lovely palate cleasner :) and went down very nicely. Our main dish was a braised beef with asparagus and sweet potato hash, it was very tender. The flavor was a bit bland though and could have used a stronger flavor profile."

  • "Although the food was excellent as always, the set menu on Valentines Day was almost too limiting. Two oysters to start, one set appetizer, choice of 3 entrées, and one set dessert. Booked through Open Table and had no idea of the set menu until we actually sat down at the table. Returned to the Fat Cow's website after dinner to see if I missed the "set menu" advice and noticed there was in fact under "Menu" a link to the set menu for Valentines Day but it was easily missed. It was very busy, which was to be expected, but I felt they were overwhelmed. Had our Christmas Party here and that was an outstanding experience. We'll try again in the summer. Also, a small tea light each of the tables would add a bit of intimacy :)"

  • "My wife had the duck confit - excellent! I had the chicken and waffles; couldn't resist the unique combination of food items. I enjoyed the dish but would definitely choose a different menu item on our next visit."

  • "It was one the best little local finds when we moved out to Langley from the city. Having lived mostly in Vancouver, Burnaby, and New Westminster, I have always been drawn to progressive, locally sourced, ethnic, and individually owned restaurants. This is it! However, don't come if you are in a hurry. They have a limited amount of staff and so orders will take a bit longer than the usual fast/food restaurants that are everywhere."

  • "Good food and a lot of choices even if you dont eat oysters! The waitress was polite but always seemed very nervous, add a crying baby and a singer at the keyboard and it was not a relaxing dinner... Good, but not relaxing!"

  • "Great food good service live music a bit to loud. We come for the food and atmosphere the later somewhat affected by the live music being too loud. We will be back but maybe a little earlier so as to avoid not being able to have a conversation!"

  • "THIS THE 3rd TIME WE HAVE GONE TO TEH FCAOB and this time our Server had attitude and was pretty unfriendly and not menu knowledgable. The food is why we goto the FCAOB and this time is was pretty blan. The Oysters all tasted exactly the same, veggies were over cooked, do not have the Waffel Chicken (basically a better version of deep fried chicken) or the Sturgen ( dry and flavorless - my fault for ordering famed) I will try somewhere else next time"

  • "First visit with a 50th birthday girl party of 6. Location a bit off the beaten path but interior was warm and friendly. Menu has an interesting variety and the preparation and presentation was very good. Service was also very attentive. We are going back soon."

  • "Great service and nice restaurant. Unfortunately, we are not oyster fans and ate the non-seafood items. Those items were underwhelming. I have heard the oysters are great though."

  • "One of the few top quality restaurants in Langley. An original menu featuring local items, carried off by a chef with talent and care. Service is friendly, informal and completely professional. We have eaten here several times a year since it opened; for anniversaries, with guests and when we just feel like a good meal."

  • "We thought we would take the kids out for dinner and a movie on Saturday. Both were outstanding. Not often you get two for two. The guys had chicken and waffles and the gals had the pork shoulder and their steak feature. Unreal!"

  • "The main meal was slow to come. The portions were small and didn't have much taste. The fish was cooked perfectly. The hamburger was dry and had hardly any blue cheese on it."

  • "New Years Eve, 6:30pm When we walked into the restaurant, and verified our reservation, the girl showed us to our table, uttering the words: "I'll GRAB you some water." This is not the first time we've come across this "I'll grab you ..... " Seems to be taught in Culinary College, or not ? Once past this and the fact that we were seated at a dark and traffic ridden table, and moved to another, everything was good."

  • "Dinner was great! The staff was friendly and attentive. The live music duo was good. The only drawback is the noise level. They need to dampen the very reflective ceiling to cut back on the noise. We will be back!"

  • "The Fat Cow Oyster Bar is an awesome diamond in the rough, great live entertainment that made the night. Service was superb, and the food was delectable. With dishes like Chicken and Waffles, which our table had two orders off, to the pumpernickel Sturgeon and of course Oysters with a great selection of raw and cooked it is hard to beat this little restaurant in the heart of the industrial park in Langley!!! I highly recommend you look it up."

  • "Our local fave haunt delivered again... We dined with another couple this time, shared a couple bottles of Malbec, oysters and mussels to whet our appetites, and rib eye to ultimately finish off the drive to the main course. Each bite along the way was flavourful and satisfying. We'll be back again soon!"

  • "Nice place, great food, responsive service. Only bummer was the large group that came and brought young kids. One of the babies cried and I appreciate that mom was attempting to calm the babe but in a small intimate restaurant you can hear everything so the crying along with other kids walking about was rather disturbing..."

  • "Ce repas est delicieux! Compliments to the chef. The complimentary prawn ceviche was phenomenal, Beau ate it even though he doesn't like seafood. The Chevre oyster was juicy and tender with a slight hint of rosemary, delicious with fresh squeezed lemon. Served with a side of argula (?) Tossed in balsamic reduction. Duck confit was served two ways. Looks like sliced seared duck breast medallions which had a milder flavour. As well as a crispy duck leg which was a lot more savoury than the medallions. Both tender and divine. Served with a panchetta (?) Cabbage ragu, seasonal vegetables and a quince gastrique. Overall a very satisfying meal. The House Wine (Fat Cow Red) was also great. Thank you for a delightful evening. Et à la prochaine fois"
