Diner Reviews
  • "Loved everything about this place. Food did take a while but the atmosphere was energetic."

  • "The food was excellent, but the wine list was weak at best."

  • "Farmhouse's raison d'etre (or gimmick) is that everything comes from the US, local if possible. Swell for a local chicken or lettuce, it gets a bit precious for beverages. We took our 89-year-old friend, who decided to have a Rob Roy (scotch and vermouth) and then another. Farmhouse charged us $20 apiece for the mixed drinks. Why? Because they only have small-batch boutique scotch from the US. This was their "cheapest" one. Really? It's like getting a $30 bill for a "tuna" sandwich and being told "we only use sturgeon." Then you'd better advertise that fact. The place is deafening and filled with young people. When my bill runs to over $200 for three people, I do expect a tablecloth. Don't you? Go to the 1808 Grill instead."

  • "I highly recommend The Farmhouse! The food was amazing and I love knowing that almost all of it came from local farms. We will definitely be back!"

  • "The trout fritters were like eating a box of salt. You could not taste anything but salt. All the entrees had too much salt. My hands and feet were swollen one hour after eating there. All the hype on fresh and local produce is meaningless, if you cannot taste the food for the salt. Even the salad dressing was full of salt. The wait staff was nice and took the fritters off our bill but that does not make for a good meal. We will not be back until I hear they have a new chef there."

  • "I was disappointed with the Farm House. We informed our waiter that two of our three diners were vegetarian, and ordered the cornbread appetizer for our group. He came out later to inform us the cornbread had bacon in it. The cornbread came anyway and we were charged for it. Then our two vegetarians ordered the garden plate entree, which was just a salad. The entree name was very misleading ("garden plate, seasonal vegetables, house concoctions" does not suggest lettuce salad with green beans). If you're going to be a meat restaurant through and through, don't put a vegetarian entree that is essentially a salad on your menu so you can pretend to appeal to vegetarians. We were also seated late despite having a reservation."

  • "The food was fantastic. First time there and was difficult to choose an entree. I had the pork belly which was off the hook. Next time it will be the chicken. Service was prompt, friendly and properly attentive without being obtrusive. Will defintely be back and recommend to friends."

  • "All local and made fresh and you could really taste the quality. I was struck by the tiny menu but the portions were generous and everyone found something they really wanted. Our group of 5 had 2 different appetizers (unique deviled eggs and pimento cheese), multiple different mains and sides. Wow, it was excellent. The burger was excellent as was the trout and the smoked chicken. The sides - Mac & Cheese (best in town), Fried green tomatos and cornbread were amazing! I highly recommend. Only downside - the parking is crazy expensive. It cost us $15 to park in the lot in front of the restaraunt for 2 hours. The valet may have been cheaper but I didn't check."

  • "Food overall was good, but the bar selection is far too limited. Selection of vodka and scotch was too limited. No french champagne. This area of the menu needs work. Pimento cheese and bacon was good but too much pepper poured on crackers before serving."
    Dined on 4/11/2014
  • "Our server was great at explaining the dishes. Everything we ate was good. Apps- pork belly was amazing with blueberry and gnocchi. Quail and waffle was ok. Sides- fried green tomatoes were great. Succotash was amazing. Entrees- scallops were very good but very salty. Drink- The Lady had a very distinct thyme taste. It was good but I could only drink one."

  • "Very good meal. I will return however, at almost $30 a plate I won't be sprinting back. Also, this might be one of the loudest establishments I have been to."

  • "One word... AMAZING. My fiancé and I giggled at every bite because of how good it was."
    Dined on 4/10/2014
  • "Everything was good but way way way way too salty. I had to get up in the middle of the night and get a drink of water twice after eating at the farm house. I felt like I had been swimming in the ocean all day. Take away the overdose of sea salt and I could call it good."
    Dined on 4/9/2014
  • "Pork belly was so good but very filling. The hot chicken was excellent."

  • "So nice to have a dish that you feel is healthy and is just so.darn.tasty. LOVE the cobia @Farmhouse!"

  • "My husband and I had never been to Nashville and this was the first stop on our list. To say that our waiter Scott took really good care of us is an understatement. He went out of his way to welcome us to both the restaurant and the city. The love and passion that The Farm House has for its ingredients and city is inspiring - and the results are just darn delicious. Dish standouts included the chocolate-avocado pie and the pimento cheese with bacon compote. The decor is also very cool, just like you are sitting in a barn! We just wish we lived closer - I think we would become regulars here! Thank you, Scott, and The Farm House; we hope to visit again soon!"

  • "From decor, to service, to food...this place does it right!"

  • "WHY do resturants insist on seating parties with reservations in the worst possble seats? This happened again at Farmhouse and our refusal of the table created confusion. We arrived at 5:40 for a 5:45 reservation, restaurant three quarters empty and we were offered a small 2 top in the main traffic aisle. Once we were finally seated, the server seemed to be rushing us to make wine and food decisions even though we were trying to have relaxed meal. Overall the food was good."

  • "The Farm House is a unique dinning experience in a great location of Downtown Nashville near the Omni, Country Music Hall of Fame and Symphony Hall. The servers are very attentive without being annoying. I would call the food, Southern cuisine with a flare. The Deviled eggs are an amazing appetizer and an all time favorite. The Entrees of Trout, Hot Chicken and Pork Belly are delectable. The Farm House is great dinning for lunch and dinner."

  • "Get the Cobia at dinner, you won't be disappointed."

  • "We found your restaurant on the Eater as restaurants we had to try and as usual it didn't disappoint! My husband and I took some out of town friends here for the first time and we had a great time! Our waitress was incredibly knowledgeable, she had wonderful suggestions and was so friendly! We will be back again and this time will save room for dessert!"
    Dined on 4/5/2014
  • "This was initially one of our favorite new restaurants, but has sure taken a dive. Our entrees were mediocre at best. One of our guest had a $36 filet that was tough - and charred (despite being ordered medium). The biggest shock were the bar prices! $18 for a requested brand and $3 for a cup of coffee. We left very disappointed and won't be back. Try Etch next door for a more enjoyable - and affordable - dinner!"

  • "Wonderful food. Knowledgable waitstaff RE: ingredients and prep methods. If in Nashville again, will definitely be a repeat customer."
    Dined on 4/4/2014
  • "Food was fantastic! Very flavorful, meat was incredibly tender. Food and drink was everything we hoped for and more! Rated ambiance as good, but only because we went at 5pm in the spring and still bright outside. I'm sure ambiance is a different level in the evening. Suggestion: corn bread!"

  • "Duck was OK but not much flavor. Egg appetizer was very good. Atmosphere casual with 2 TVs over bar. Excellent location for folks desiring dinner prior to attending symphony."
    Dined on 4/3/2014
  • "Delicious food, great service and great location downtown."
    Dined on 4/3/2014
  • "Excluding the decor, I have nothing positive to say about this restaurant. After living in Nashville for seven and a half years, I can easily say this is the worst meal I've had during that time. On top of bad food, the service was horrific. Never going back! Never recommending!!"
    Dined on 4/3/2014
  • "What a gym on the crowded Nashville scene! Hard to believe that the Farm House is not getting more good publicity. We found the food and service to be on parallel with Husk. While it is difficult to find locally sourced food in Nashville at the end of winter and beginning of spring, the Farm House does an amazing job of finding good quality locally sourced food, then turning it into some amazingly creative dishes. The only negative was the decibel level. My dinner companion and I had to shout to be heard, but I would be happy to return and shout if that's what it takes to experience such well-crafted food."

  • "We were in travelling from out of state, so I researched some fun "local" options in advance and came across this restaurant. The menu choices were great and our server made a spot on recommendation with the pork roulade. Very good choice and something different than we would normally experience. The service and atmosphere was really good. Definately would reccomend to others. Even those who prefer "basic" food had some options on the menu (ie. my husband)."

  • "The tables are somewhat close together, so besides being noisy in general, we could hear everything the neighboring tables talked about. That being said, the food -- Doubled Deviled Egg, Mixed Greens salad, NC Trout, Short Rib, and Sweet Cornbread & Milk Panna Cotta for dessert -- was terrific!"
    Dined on 3/29/2014
  • "Food and service were excellent. The noise level is a major issue. Difficult to have a conversation for a couple. Multiple large groups were in the back room. Acoustics are not conducive to a conversation sound level."
    Dined on 3/29/2014
  • "The Farmhouse has pit like seating, and the acoustics makes it difficult to talk. The food is Southern experimental, and their selling point is the fact that they locally source their food. The restaurant was very difficult to find the first time."
    Dined on 3/28/2014
  • "We are frequent patrons, and we love the food. I am a huge fan of the NC trout; however, my husband and I loved the burger. Sadly, it has been removed from the menu. HUGE mistake! The Farmhouse burger was one of the best in Nashville. Please put the burger back on the menu!"
    Dined on 3/27/2014
  • "We had high hopes when reading reviews and when we walked in, but were disappointed overall. Our waiter did not give us much attention, and did not seem to know the menu that well. He also failed to note food (including dessert!) that had bacon -- despite our letting him know we had a vegetarian in our group. Baked spicy chicken dish was the best; the rest just okay."
    Dined on 3/27/2014
  • "The drinks, the food, the friends, oh my. This is a place to be for lunch or supper. When they say the hot chicken is good it is an understatement. The Pate appetizer is a meal in itself. And oh the vegies. Only the freshest and best from middle Tennessee are served here, cooked with great care and just a little twist on flavor. We will be back again and again."
    Dined on 3/22/2014
  • "We decided to check out the Farm House since we had an out-of-town guest. The food did not "wow" us like a nearby restaurant. We had the trout appetizer which was not memorable. Our guest had the hot chicken which was an "A" thankfully. I had the beef shank that lacked flavor- had for track down our server for some salt which helped-would not order again. My husband had the seared trout which was fine - but again not memorable. Before dinner we listened to music and had appetizers and the Listening Room- which were delicious. Guess we should have stayed there for our meal. My husband and I were expecting more- especially for the price. Also, I would have thought a manager would stop by tables to see how things were going."

  • "Scallops, beet salad and the CORNBREAD are the best dishes. I have been around world dining in the highest rated restaurants, to the foothills of Asia and barrios of Latin America....I know good food. Enjoy."

  • "Just outstanding. Wait staff very proud of their farm to table concept"
    Dined on 3/21/2014
  • "I prefer a round table with a group of six. It is very difficult to have a conversation seated three people on each side, especially three women and three men. Someone is always left out. The food was very good everyone agreed we would eat here again. I understand you consider the restaurant to be "All American" but the scotch and vodka choices were very poor, the wine was good."
