Diner Reviews
  • "Went to Farm for an early dinner on a Tuesday. My friend and I met at the Farm about 2 years ago. So it was fun to meet there again. It was perfect for a visit because the food was so yummy and fresh and because we could visit without much noise. Also since my first visit I am now on a low fat Vegan diet. There were several choices which was great. Because we ate during happy hour, we had most of the plates and the soup. All were just yummy. They had vegan food i could eat and my friend had the dishes with cheese. Along with the nice wine list we couldn't have been happier. It was not expensive. Finally, the staff was excellent. They were friendly, knew menu ingredients well, were respectful and there when needed."

  • "Went with a some buddies to get some fancy dinner before we saw TJ Miller at 10pm on a Friday night. Prices were reasonable. Everything was delicious. We really went for it getting apps, salads, entrees and dessert along with alcohol and coffee. We had a big bill, but it was worth it."

  • "The superlative reviews for this restaurant are warranted. The chef seeks out and local and seasonal ingredients, a new to me at least variety of lettuce, for example, and local lake trout, appeared in dishes I ordered, complemented with good local wines, attentive service, all packaged in an old house with a patio - if not raining. The atmosphere, including the open kitchen is relaxed. One is in good hands."

  • "We tried many restaurants in the Portland, Vancouver area. Farm Cafe and one other restaurant were great in all aspects."

  • "The food here hasn't disappointed yet. From their appetizers of Brie and bread to sautéed mushrooms and entrees of gnocchi and veggie burgers all were well prepared and savory. If you are in the area I would definitely recommend going here for delicious food and quiet/ambient atmosphere."

  • "We decided to opt for outside seating. While waiting for our table we sat at the bar and enjoyed a yummy concoction created by their friendly barkeep. We dined outside and enjoyed every morsel of our meal."

  • "Food was unwhelming but still good - but the cost was greater than it should have been for what we got."

  • "Liked the ambiance and decor of the place. The lamb was terrific. Other members had rockfish, veggie burger, and mushroom risotto and all were good. Had a good bottle of wine. The cobbler could have used a few more peaches, but we were early in the season. Easy to drive by the place if you aren't watching closely, the part of the building facing the street is small. Overall a great find and had a great time!"

  • "Made early dinner reservations. We were greeted warmly, promptly seated and immeadiately comfortable. Four adults were nearly overwhelmed by four entrees. Be sure to order a house made coctail, made with locally distilled spirits, and you must try the deviled eggs!"

  • "Last minute decision to go out, checked out Farm Cafe on Open Table, found a reservation. Great evening for sitting outside, seated at a quiet table in the corner of the patio. Started with appetizers (sauteed mushrooms, and the smoked salmon deviled eggs), followed by kale and fennel salad, all delicious! The entrees were equally good, the Idaho trout was perfectly prepared, and the grilled vegetables perfectly al dente. Accompanied by a wine feature, a gamay noir with a wonderful character. Service was impeccable, and just the way we like it, present but never in your face. Thanks for a wonderful evening!"

  • "The staff was super friendly. We were able to sit out on thee patio which was perfect for a summer night. Ambience was pleasant, warm, and not too noisy. I ordered the risotto which although flavorful, was too hot for me to eat. It tasted like chili peppers, but not sure. The butter leaf salad was prepared lovely, but w/ way too much pepper. It was also difficult to eat. I would say in general they use an over abundance of salt and seasoning. The other entrees were good, but not so good that we have to return."

  • "This place is wonderful. The food is one-of-a-kind and just amazing. The wine list was well thought-out and unique. Service was really slow, but the great atmosphere of the patio made up for it. We obviously say outside, but inside was great, too! Just awesome."

  • "We were four people and enjoyed the fact that while the restaurant was busy, it was quiet enough to converse. One of our appetizers was the herbed mushrooms, which were superb. All the food was tasty and well prepared and service was pleasant and attentive. Our only disappointment was that although lamb is considered a specialty and some of us had planned to order it, it was all gone by the time our order was taken. We had booked a relatively early reservation...6:15, and felt that this shouldn't have happened."

  • "The food was outstanding and quite reasonably priced, as was the wine. I loved the asparagus ravioli. There were some issues with my service, but the staff was apologetic about it and they were very friendly as they resolved it. It still made for a wonderful dinner."

  • "The food was amazing. No doubt. But the waiter was blah and we felt rushed."

  • "We really enjoyed the meal. The cocktails were well made to start, and we shared the kale salad. For entrees, we had the trout and the salmon; both were well prepared and the accompaniments were delicious. We really liked the service as well."

  • "This place continues to produce after a decade and more in business. Solid service and great, select and delicious menu. Fresh food. Vibrant, happy crowd in the nostalgic old farmhouse made it perfectly fine to drink off the great wine list and soak in the ambiance while we waited for our table. I've been a fan since you opened and I'm glad to see the spirit remains sweet and yet affordable. Thank you Farm."

  • "This is the second time I have been to the Farm Cafe--this time as a special occasion for Father's Day. I love the ambience of this place--old houses that have been converted to restaurants always have a particular charm that makes for a very comfortable dining experience. Their food is so lovely and pairs flavors very nicely. The duck with fresh pea spaetzle was divine, the beet carpaccio salad and kale fennel salad were perfect, and the ramps pesto on the salmon is something I will have to try to recreate on my own. And of course the wine list is fantastic. I was sad we didn't leave room for dessert. The service was great even on such a busy weekend, and I will look forward to finding another occasion to visit the Farm Cafe."

  • "My wife and I went for dinner for our Anniversary. It was our first time at the Farm Cafe and really enjoyed the experience and food. The Asparagus Ravioli was to die for as was the Sunken Chocolate Souffle with Coffee Ice Cream. The baked brie was excellent, and the french fries were some of the best I've had in Portland."

  • "It is easy to drive right by the Farm Café if you are not careful. Wedged in a crowded area near the convention center the Farm Café offers great farm to table food with an outdoor option when the weather is good. We had the great fortune to have great weather and time to sneak away from a work event near Lloyd Center and had a great dinner of fresh wild King Salmon prepared medium rare with was excellent! Starters were so good we kept ordering them until we almost forgot to order dinner. Asparagus Fritters, Baked Brie and Deviled Eggs were all original and delicious. In the heart of the industrial District The Farm Café is a great place to visit."

  • "Friendly service, delicious food, what more could you want? Everything is so fresh. The fish dishes are excellent. Hubby had the Idaho Trout and adored it. My salmon was spectacular - cooked just the way I like it. Don't miss the endive salad - the dressing is sublime. I would definitely recommend to my friends!"

  • "Weren't asked to sit outside-stuck inside to watch everyone waiting for a table, so no comment on the outdoor dining. The food delicious! Loved asparagus fritters, lamb and lemon raviolis-salmon mediocre. Totally rushed to gobble up two appetizers because our food arrived so quickly. Thought we had more time (10 min for Baked Brie). Loved the drinks when they finally arrived the second time. Although food was great and we'd come again--female staff was ridiculously rude to us. Especially the "Short, Blonde Bartender"and her dirty looks?!! What's up with her? While male staff were opposite--just 3 middle-aged women wanting good meal--no drama. Otherwise it was a good meal but because of the service disappointing."

  • "Every time we come here, it's always really good! The options are not abundant, but anything you get is cooked to perfection and the flavors all come together nicely. The staff/servers are always super friendly and accommodating. We love coming here, it never disappoints! Thank you for a lovely evening."

  • "I'm not a restaurant reviewer and am only doing so because asked by Open Table, and feel that the Farm Café should receive the praise it deserves. I love the fact that the don't feel the need to add 'heat' to everything as in Cayenne, Habanero, Jalapeno, etc. They let the flavor of the food stand on its own, which not enough chefs, IMO, do these days. Our three appetizers and to entrees, Asparagus Ravioli and Idaho Trout were excellent. With all the vegetarian items and the way they prepared them, my wife said, "I'm in heaven!" The trout was prepared in such a way that the only thing left on my plate was a tail. It was excellent and we'll be back. If it's nice weather, eat in the courtyard. We'll wave at you!"

  • " Parking was no problem, as we arrived for our 5:30 pm reservations. The food service person had a friendly personalty and was very well informed about the food menu and the wine menu. She was able to answer our questions about portion size and what to expect from some of the dishes we had questions about. There were several food highlights during the evening, especially the pickled vegetable appetizer, the vegan Spring Vegetable Tamale, and the Clams and Fries. The Apple Rhubarb Crisp was a big hit, as was the baked brie with strawberries."

  • "None of the above fit our evening. On of our party was disappointed that the one of the regular dishes was not being served the night we were there."

  • "The Farm Cafe is the best find while we hve been in the city! Here for six weeks for Mother's medical issues. She was able to find menu items that she could enjoy and I thoroughly enjoyed my birthday dinner! We will enjoy meals there until we return home to Seaside, and we continue to recommend the cafe with the pleasant staff."

  • "We tried this restaurant for the vegetarian options and were not disappointed. We had the vegetable tamale with black bean pure was so flavorful. For dessert we shared the apple rhubarb crisp and it was superb. Fun atmosphere and device was great."

  • "Great food. I had never done outside seating here before; it was wonderful! The asparagus ravioli was wonderful and the apple rhubarb crisp is sooooo good! Normally we have Ramekin the Wizard. I missed her this time but the service is still good."

  • "This was the one reservation we made when in Portland and it was worth it. The baked brie appetizer was excellent. My husband said 'this could be a dessert' and later we saw it on the dessert menu as well. He had the asparagus ravioli which he said was the best ravioli he ever had - and he's Italian and not a huge vegetable fan. I had the duck confit which was very good, and we shared the apple-rhubarb crisp with ice cream for dessert. "

  • "Our waiter was charming, appetizers (asparagus fritters light as helium; devilled eggs angelic) outstanding, and the entrees were carefully composed with beautifully balanced flavors. The party behind us were very loud, but laughing should not be illegal on Saturday night, for goodness' sake. Dessert was well worth the calories. We estimated a penny per calorie. This was my second visit and I will return!"

  • "From start to finish our meal was amazing! There were 8 of us and everyone loved what they had ordered. I had the Asparagus Ravioli and it was perfect cheesy, lemoney goodness. Great wine list! Our table shared 3 desserts and we fought over which one was the best. The serves was wonderful as well. We where well taken care of. "
