Reservations can be made online or by calling. We also save a number of tables for walk-ins. Please call for reservations of 10 or more, a deposit is required.

  • "My daughter and I went since neither of us had been before. She is a chef and I let her order....we ate seafood fritters and pickled vegetables and a kale salad for starters. We ordered ravioli and the fish on a bed of lentils. Nothing was tasty or interesting enough to merit going back. Just kind of blah and unintersting overall."

I don't want this place to be too popular so I'll just say that the excellent service was not; that the delicious salt-crusted flame-grilled Idaho trout with warm Beluga lentil salad, and the creamy gnocchi with wild nettle pesto, followed by the divine chocolate soufflé with coffee ice-cream were not; and that the wonderful ambience - cozy, tastefully subdued dark wood, and good background music - like we were dining in a private home - intimate but not shut off from the rest of the diners, was not worth writing home about. And the prices?? Don't get me started. They were so reasonable for the great quality and good portion size. If you dine here - please don't make me queue."

  • "I've been to the farm café dozens of times and usually the service is great except when we get the last waitress like we did again this time. I was actually embarrassed at how non-friendly and put off she was given that I was the one who set up this very important meeting/dinner with my Doctor colleagues and Office staff. We are a friendly happy bunch and the waitress (bigger woman with tattoos---like a couple of us gals) was frowning the whole time, when asked if we could substitute anything for the cooked greens with the trout, she was very put off, had a negative tone and said no at first...after I jumped in and said what about some beets or small salad on the side she flat out with a negative tone said no we can't do that."

  • "The ingredients are so fresh and delicious, but they are practically ruined by the amount of salt in these dishes. Everyone at my table (5 people) had the lamb, and I had the trout. Mine was sooo salty, I could not get through half of it. The others had the same problem with their lamb dish."

  • "Our dinner was a delightful experience that fit both my husband's and my own needs. He requires gluten-free, and vegetarian meals, and we were celebrating a special event, so the romantic ambiance and delicious multi-course meal worked for both of us. The Arugula Pear salad with Rogue Orgonzola was fresh and delightful, preceding our entrees: a delicate and delicious Smoked Salmon Ravioli for myself, and the satisfying Pan Fried Polenta with Winter Vegetables for my husband. The wine list is extensive, and there was even a dessert that we could share. We will definitely return for another special meal in the future."

  • "Being new to Portland, and being used to the New York City way, my husband and I were delighted with the honored reservation, the excellent service with such an attentive staff. I have had found good service rarely in Portland but this was outstanding and made me feel so comfortable at my meal. The food was delicious, I had the lamb and my husband had the boneless trout. All amazingly fresh, and creatively prepared. We had a wonderful time and will definitely go back!"

  • "Cozy, friendly, creative, delicious, healthy what more could you want? The lighting was warm dim and romantic. Liked it. The trout was done perfectly. The portions were slightly too large which is much better than too small, but still I don't like to waste. We had a very classic cream brûlée."

  • "This is our fourth or fifth time back to The Farm. Been there for ladies' bike night. Brought the inlaws there. And I've had two great dinners with my husband here. I think we've had the same server each time and I'm kicking myself for not getting his name. He is laid back, low key but super attentive. He steered us in the right direction. Very knowledgeable and honest about the menu. The food was delicious. My cocktail and the wine were smooth and tasty. We love this place and will be back again. I wouldn't go there with a large group unless the patio is open, but for parties of 4 or less it's great year-round."

  • "A fun little spot with plenty of food surprises. No matter how odd something on the menu sounded, it was presented splendidly and the flavor was full, fantastic, fun and fabulous!. We arrived for happy hour and stayed for dinner, it was a good mix of varied dishes and strong drinks. We all had to wear our jackets/coats to ward off the cold breeze from the fan and just a cold house. Perhaps an old house is hard to heat. At least it was clean, and there was enough going on with the food and company to distract from personal discomfort. The waitress was in a big hurry so know exactly what you want to order and say it very quickly before she trots away. I don't think she likes her job. At any rate, this should be on your "must-try" places."

  • "We knew about the Farm Cafe and heard good things about it but for some reason we just never thought about dining here. Then one of us was in charge of planning a night out and decided to give it a whirl. We arrived early enough to get a seat at the bar for a happy hour cocktail before our dinner reservation. What a charming bar area! When it was time to go into the dining room, we were seated by a window which made the area rather chilly so we asked the server if we might move back to the bar. Fortunately our seats still vacant. The bar tender, Patrick! The food was delicious and dinner the wine was simply sublime! All in all, we would highly recommend this place. We won't be waiting for another special occasion to go back to the Farm."

  • "The Farm Cafe is one of my absolute favorite SE Portland restaurants, and this visit confirmed why. Everything was fantastic. The food was outstanding, with something for every palette and every budget. The service and ambience are warm and approachable, yet without trying too hard. I always love the Farm's small plate options, and the specials are fresh and seasonal. This is my go-to restaurant when out of towners are visiting, and I've never had a bad bite or a bad experience there. I especially love that they are now taking reservations, which is a huge convenience in a town with frequent hour+ waits."

  • "The menu has become more omnivorous then our last visit. If you're a vegan you have a couple of entree options, but it's not nirvana. Our waiter Skeeter was bordering on surly and we were stuck next to a service sink. The draft from the door on the south side (toward Couch St) was brutal. The other service folk were all very nice. Skeeter needs an attitude adjustment. My wife had the veggie burger and liked it. I had polenta and roasted winter vegetables was very good."

  • "Awful spot for dinner. Noise level deafening!! Wait staff are not trained and are rude and abrupt. Don't know menu items well enough to give knowledgeable explanation of ingredients. Tables in front entrance should all be closed. Who really wants to eat in the middle of a four lane traffic mess? Do not sit at the two person table by french doors. Cold and out side car lights a nuisance. Ordered kale salad and was served the argula. Ravioli was tough!!!! really tough!! Food over salted and portions would make a football player very happy. Cutsey drinks a waste of good liquor. Too many nice restaurants in Portland to waste money here."

  • "It's amazing how much a server affects an experience with a restaurant. The person who seated us was great -friendly and accommodating. Our server, on the other hand, was not good. She couldn't answer any questions and had to go find answers for most questions. The ones she attempted to answer on her own was while she was looking at a menu recommending items priced highest to lowest. She didn't check back with us. The food was good but the overall experience was not good. If you're in the area, it's a good place to stop in but the overall experience wasn't worth the drive for us. I may try it again hoping that a better server could make the dining experience better."

Booked reservation two weeks out and specified was going for a special event (birthday dinner) and was given worst table in the resto (beside door, froze!) overall disappointed. Food was good but not "wow" didn't want leftovers. Save your pennies for something better"

  • "I'm a fussy eater and generally dislike trendy restaurants. The Farm is very popular, but the food and atmosphere make it one of my favorite places to eat in Portland. It's doesn't feel hectic even when all the tables are filled, and I can always find good vegetarian options. The only downside for me is they use nuts in many dishes, and since I am allergic this limits my ability to try many of the menu items."

  • "I have been to The Farm Cafe several times and always have a wonderful dining experience! The atmosphere is warm, friendly, sophisticated/eclectic, organic and focused on good food and service. Plan to stay foe awhile, it's always hard to leave. The art on the walls rotates like the menu, so it's fun to see what's new!"

  • "Excellent food. My date and I tried the lamb strudel, which was awesome. It appears they have a weekly lamb dish, which I love. I also had their weekly lamb dish, a meat ball with spinach and vegetable mash, which was also great. My date had the trout, which I wish I had gotten, it was that good. Great atmosphere and solid service. What more could you want?"

  • "A group of four of us were all happy with our dinners on Saturday night. The restaurant had been very helpful in changing the time of our initial reservation and took extra effort to seat us at a good table. The room is attractive and cozy. The service was well-paced and unobtrusive. We shared delicious broccoli fritters; then two of us had trout, and two of us had the special lamb of the evening. The wine list was very nice, with a wine special of the evening that was an excellent value."

  • "So, I have a track record with never having a perfect dining experience and this was nearly close! The only thing that made it not so perfect was waiting when we made a reservation. However, they were able to seat us at the bar until our table was ready which fixed that issue right up. Menu was great, many tasty options that appealed to all three of us (who are each very different in what we will eat). Service was prompt, food was prompt and super delicious. Portions were much larger than many other foodie places we go which was great. Two meals out of one! We will definitely be back :)"
