We are from CT and when we found this place on our short visit to Philly, we were excited. This place is great. We don't have BYOB in CT so it's a real treat when we do find one. The food was outstanding. My husband had 3 courses and a dessert and I had 2 courses and a dessert. All so reasonably priced! And so tasty. We easily would have spent double had we gone to a place in CT. I love this place. 5 stars hands down!

Celebrated our anniversary at the Farm and Fisherman and was nothing short of amazing. Food was spot on and hit every note on our palates. Service was top notch, attentive but not stuffy. We always recommend this wonderful byob to friends and wish we lived closer so we could visit more often. Thank you to the team for an awesome night.

The food here pulls the right strings - local food, small, BYOB, nice ambience, farm to table etc. but is disappointingly bland. Had the poached egg appetizer with almost no taste past a powerful tomato based sauce. The prime rib was surprisingly boring (didn't seem marbled enough) and served on local brown rice that had no taste whatsoever. They had a good cheese plate at the end with a delicious NJ cheddar but everything cooked was a waste of calories.

Farm to table drew us to the restaurant! Our server opened up explaining this and telling us the farm locations in and around Philly, which was great. The food was outstanding. The service was wonderful - we interacted with a few different people and each was warm and welcoming. It's a really small place, but never felt "crowded" even though it was full from the time we walked in to the time we left two and a half hours later. We will be back for sure!

We eat at Farm & Fisherman fairly often and the food is always wonderful. But this last time we were also repeatedly delighted by a new server. She somehow looked and acted and seemed as though she had just stepped out of an excellent cafe near Rue Mouffetard, or at least a direct flight from Paris. She is a true gem and F&F should do whatever it takes to keep her.

My first trip to The Farm and Fisherman was nothing short of spectacular. When I first looked at the menu of only 12 dishes (4 1st courses, 4 2nd courses, and 4 main courses), I was nervous that everyone in my group would find something to suit their tastes. After the first bite of the first course, my fears were immediately put to rest. The flavor and presentation of the food was sensational, and the pace with which the meals were delivered was perfect, allowing us to thoroughly enjoy each dish along with the different wines we had brought. Very accommodating to the dietary restrictions in our group (easy to do gluten-free). With only 30 seats in the restaurant, be sure to make a weekend reservation a few weeks out.

The food was delicious, especially the beet salad for first course. Everything was prepared perfectly, even taking into consideration any food preferences, allergies, etc. we had. The presentation of the food was elegant and appealing, the service was attentive without being overly hovering, and we would both recommend this restaurant to anyone. It's nice to have a place to eat which is intimate, small, not noisy, and where, along with wonderful food, one can carry on a conversation without competing with too loud music or general yelling.

F&F is an excellent BYO in Center City that suggests partaking in three courses--with locally sourced offerings from the farm and the sea. The selections are somewhat limited (about five per course). But there is a good division among seafood, meat and vegetarian offerings. All of our dishes were good--a tomato salad, grilled eggplant dish, NJ caught tuna and striped bass. The atmosphere is comfortable and service is good.

The Farm & Fisherman is a gem in terms of food quality. This was my second visit and both times everything brought to the table was top notch. My friends were in for a night from San Francisco and after the meal asked for the card. They said when back in Philly they would return. The freshness of the fish was complimented by delicious sauce and the beet first course was the best I've had.

We sat at the table by the window and looked out on Pine Street as a thunderstorm overtook the neighborhood. I had the green gaspacho and my wife had the summer vegetable salad. Both were delicious. My main course was halibut, which was done to perfection over a bed of couscous. My wife's main course was roast chicken. It was excellent. We topped it off with a Napoleon chocolate for dessert and then called Uber to pick up up amidst a downpour.

We chose this place because of its vegan- friendly menu for one member of our party. We were to disappointed. The chef made a special plate for our vegan friend a d the rest of us were delighted with the regular menu. The food was very fresh, with surprising sauces and combinations of vegetables. We loved the option to create small plates with the second course. Service was friendly and attentive. We will definitely return.

The menu lives up to its namesake. Vegetables are an intrinsic part of the dishes rather than just well prepared accompaniments. Fish courses such as the striped bass are very fresh and benefit very well from their incorporated farm ingredients. Across the 7 different plates served to the table on this visit, everything was both eye catching, approachable, and delicious. The service is very thoughtful and attentive.

We had passed The Farm and the Fisherman many times and had always promised to check it out. But it has been so popular (and as we found out, righfully so) that we couldn't find a time to meet our schedule. But one of our sons, home from college, wanted to try a top notch Philadelphia restaurant--so we tried again on Open Table and found a good time on a Wednesday night in August (it does take these off-peak times to get a good reservation). But our odd-ball time still found this small (30 seat max) restaurant in the Washington Square area. The limited menu was deep in flavor. The restaurant is really casual chic, with a three course meal. My cucumber gazpacho rivaled the tomatos from local urgan farms. The stripped bass, pork, tuna!

After reading high ratings about the restaurant, it could be that my expectations were too high. The appetizers--I had the broiled beet--were wonderful, but the main course (pork for me) had too heavy a sauce and it was very salty.

I had the Cucumber Gazpacho, Grilled Heirloom Eggplant, and Striped Bass -- they were all amazing! The ingredients were fresh, and the flavors full and complex. It's the first time I'm here, and I found myself planning my next visit as I was eating. The service was pleasant enough -- present but unobtrusive. Unfortunately, I had the direct blast of the a/c for 20-30min which made it extremely uncomfortable - they addressed it when I brought it to their attention, but I was disappointed that they didn't notice it on their own considering how small the place is.

Location is in a very nice neighborhood but on-street parking is the only option versus a 3-5 block walk to a lot. Metered as well....bring your quarters!! Small quaint dining room that can sometimes be at a higher decibel than desired. Waitstaff is very efficient and willing to tend to all of your requests. Food was very fresh and creative with several options for each course. The combinations of ingredients produce very pleasant flavors and had this diner eating a vegetable that heretofore was verboten. A nice touch was the interface with the Manager/Owner insuring our visit was pleasurable. The BYOB option gives this place an additional plus.

Outstanding service, wonderful, relaxing pace for a three or four course meal. We were too stuffed, pleasantly to try desert. Go early if you don't want a high noise level. We made reservations for when it opened at 5, and left at 6:45 when it was very crowded. Awesome food. Don't miss the bloody beet steak. I wish I would have ordered 5 of them. Good size portions, enough for sharing, especially if you are going to leave room for dessert. I wish I had because the panna cotta looked delicious.
