Diner Reviews
  • "My friend and I stopped here before a concert at the Lincoln. We absolutely loved the food - it's kind of a quirky menu, but everything we had was outstanding. The house cocktail was different and delicious. We had the skate special with an amazing bean "succotash" and the ceviche. Will definitely go back and try more. Glad we found it!"

  • "We decided to go here on a Friday night last minute so we made a late reservation but ended up to make our way over earlier. The host was accommodating and fit us in early. Desmond our server was great. Relaxed, friendly, and attentive. He recommended the special (rabbit ragu) which was amazing. The rest of our food was great too. We will absolutely be back!"

  • "Great small playes. Simple menu, great wine. Awesome decor!"

  • "This was our first visit and we had a great time - 6 people in our party in total. They've really used the space very well and the lighting and fairly-low noise level allowed us to have a great conversation - no shouting or feeling confined. The food was between "good" and "very good" - nothing too special - but the specialty cocktails were very good and worth trying."

  • "We went on a whim because of the name and it turned out to be amazing. We'll definitely be going back again soon."

  • "This was my second visit to Fainting Goat. The first was much of the same visit as this recent one. The bar was quite full, but it took a while to get our drinks ordered and delivered. The food tasted excellent, but the portions were so small that we left there wanting to get a bit more food elsewhere. So for the money we paid it definitely wasn't worth that portion size. Either make the portions larger or drop the prices. I probably won't be going back to eat."

  • "Cute Place, great decor, but the food is just "okay" and the the portions are waayyy to small.. for dinner for 4 we spent $260.00 and we were still hungry.. so we went to a cheese steak joint around the corner and ordered cheese steak and fries... waste of money :("

  • "I received a rec from a bartender at another very reputable DC restaurant. The food was average at best. The Shallot, pumpkin and pork apps were below average quality. Great beer. My goat entree was the only 4/5 star food we ordered. Won't go back."

  • "Some whine about this bistro on Yelp, but we gave it a try and were happy we did. It was Happy Hour, so wine, beer and Tito's vodka cocktails were $5. We had a selection of cheeses and charcuterie to begin, the highlights of which included finocchio with an anise edge, and a very moist, young hay-smoked provolone (all were good, though), plus roasted leeks on a sauce of buttermilk and lemon with pickled red onion and microgreens. Mains: a roast chicken with bread crumbs atop nicely cooked kale and the bird's juices. A smear of pate made a great counterpoint. Also goat with a red wine sauce on charred eggplant. with roasted parsnips and steamed baby turnips and potatoes The dish was very good if too dominated by the sauce. Still enjoyed it."

  • "The Fainting Goat is delightful and a really nice addition to the 'hood. The food is great, but the menu choices are really limited, particularly if one has a vegetarian bent. Hopefully the menu will be expanded over time."

  • "A great looking and yummy find only open two months. Interesting options, well prepared. More vegetarian options needed."

  • "The food is decent, especially the appetizers, but the entree menu is rather limited, and frankly a bit over-priced. The service was good. The bar is jumping, the drinks are great, but as a consequence it is quite loud."

  • "Lots of energy. Good food. Goat cheese appetizer and shrimp sandwich were delicious. Service was attentive. Wines by the bottle fairly pricey. Will definitely return."

  • "We had reservations and the host/maitre d' was very pleasant and didn't mind that I waited until my guests arrived a few minutes late. The place was packed with a mostly 21-30 looking crowd and the noise level was a bit higher than I usually prefer. Once at our table, the server was prompt but it was difficult to extract menu suggestions and/or descriptions. We ordered several items to share from appetizers to main dishes and everything came at once. . . poor timing on top of a rather lengthy wait. I'm going to give it one more try but with good/great restaurants lining the 14th St. corridor, it's probation time for this eatery. Service in my book is almost as important as food quality."

  • "The ambience at Fainting Goat was great. The food and drinks were tasty and I would definitely go there again. The only thing missing was chocolate from the dessert menu!"

  • "Remarkable and outstanding cuisine, that came as a total surprise, Chef and team are doing a great job. Unfortunately it is hard to enjoy it with too much agitation and loud music around you, maybe it is the new trend or I am old school, but when you send out 3 stars dishes, one would expect a different ambience. Nonetheless we had a good time. Thank you."

  • "I only had the leeks and the burrata, but both were so delicious I can't wait to go back. I also had a Tito's martini, and it happened to be happy hour, so my bill was tiny for such an exquisite little meal. Also loved my server, who was very patient about explaining the menu."

  • "It seems that every week a new restaurant is opening up on 14th St. Some will make it, others will not. This one has the right ingredients to make it. The food was very good and interesting. The service was great. The ambiance was perfect (warm, comfortable with casual energy). Will definitely be visiting this place again."

  • "The Fainting Goat is a great gastropub with a creative menu and a number of signature cocktails. There are two long wood bars and ample seating upstairs even for large parties. The service was friendly and attentive. Everything on the menu was good, but our large party of eleven particularly liked the shrimp roll style sandwich. Desserts were an unusual set of spicy-sweet fruit combinations and were also delicious. Prices are reasonable. All-in-all a great addition to the neighborhood."

  • "The server was very knowledgable about the menu which is great because the dish is not what one imagine it would be based on the menu description. And highly suggest the grilled leeks!"
