A word from The Elm
The Elm serves classical, yet forward-thinking French fare. Our menu is broken down by category: Raw, Sea, Land and Shared. The menu is complimented by a wine program that offers a wide-ranging cross-section of eclectic wines. The seasonal cocktail program cross-utilizes freshly-picked herbs and fruits.

Little Elm is our 8 seat counter which offers guests a front row view of our kitchen team in service. Executive Chef Arnie Marcella will offer a seasonal eight course tasting menu created nightly. With advanced notice, we are able to accommodate most allergies and dietary requests.
Little Elm is open Thursday through Sunday and reservations are booked one month in advance directly through the restaurant. We offer reservations at 6pm, 6:30, 9pm and 9:30pm.

  • "Loved the chef's food at Corton, but not so much at The Elm. The choices were limited, portions were small. The drinks were great, however. Service was good and friendly, the ambience was nothing special, but I expected much more from the food. I had the special, sweetbreads with roasted peaches and the plate felt empty. My friend had salmon that was not at all inspired. The deserts were tiny and not very good. I would not recommend this restaurant for any reason except the drinks."

  • "The Elm was my first foray into Brooklyn for dining. I was not disappointed. 7:00 pm on a Thursday night proved to be quiet enough to enjoy date night conversation and appropriate attention to service. The four course prix fixe with wine pairing was just enough to both satiate and please my appetite. The pork belly appetizer melted in your mouth and the creamy foie gras was combined with a delightful combination of peanut butter cream and apricot fruit and a wonderfully rich brioche toast. The duck with pickled vegetables was as tender and tasty as any duck I've enjoyed. The young lady who presented the wine pairings was unpretentious, certified and studying for her sommelier test. But the piece de resistance was the Gold Bar dessert."

  • "Although there was a gentleman there who was accommodating and tried to make our experience a good one we were very disappointed with our experience at the elm. We arrived on time for our reservation. We sat for 20 minutes waiting for a menu. Then another 30 minutes waiting for wine while the table who sat down after us were toasting to their evening-not a good way to start an evening. The air conditioner was too strong and cold. The fish and chips had a curry flavor which I felt was a bit strong and misleading as it's not described on the menu. I definitely would not recommend this restaurant for the price. It was expensive and in an area of williamsburg where you have many choices for good meals I would consider dining anywhere else."

  • "We came to NYC for a weekend trip and decided to try the Elm as one of the few meals during our trip based on a recommendation. We were really disappointed and felt that we wasted a meal there. The service was very slow, especially for dessert. I got up from the table 3 times to ask about dessert and the server said the pastry chef was behind... however I saw all of the other cooks in the kitchen just hanging out drinking soda... I wonder why they couldn't help. The duck was so chewy it was inedible. The burratta was so salty we had to ask for a new one. Everyone just "picked" at their food or moved it around the plate. We never saw a manager the whole time which was shocking given the issues we brought to the attention of the server."

  • "Portions are minute. The main courses are the size of appetizers. I ordered the bass and it could not have been more than 2oz with decorative swishes or two sauces. I also had a reservation for three and had to wait for a table to be set. We were the first set of table turns at 6:30pm. Also, had to stop at the neighborhood deli for food on the way home - was starving and I am 5' 2", 115 lbs - not a large eater."

  • "It's an odd place. The room, underground, is gray, devoid of personality -- vaguely Marriott-ish. The menu is unexciting. Amish chicken -- a Wednesday night special -- was tasty, but arrived on such a laughably over-sized plate that the lonely chicken pieces look like re-plated Lean Cuisine. Service was indifferent. Overall, disappointing without that one great dish or waitperson or host or anything to compensate."

  • "What a bummer. An excellent meal, in a beautiful room was marred by slipshod service. Waitress couldn't open wine at table, spilled water when pouring every time, cleared dishes like at a cafeteria, and spent most of the time at the bar chatting with the bartenders."

  • "Our table of four had a wonderful evening! The restaurant is casually elegant, the service was attentive, and the food was spectacular. I can't stop thinking about the foie gras and the specialty cocktail, Diablo, both to die-for. Chef Marcella came out to greet us. We came to check out his "Best Burgers" (http://aht.seriouseats.com/archives/2014/02/eaters-19-hottest-burgers-in-the-us-right-now.html) but we were pleasantly suprised by the flavors of the entire experience. We definitely can't wait to come back to The Elm but also this part of Williamsburg."

  • "Greeted by a row of dead plants behind a wall of glass and the strong food odor of an under ventilated restaurant, there was no hostess in sight. The restaurant felt as though it hadn't opened for the day. There were children chasing around. Once seated we noting a lack of overall cleanliness, a half dead vertical garden on the dining room walls. We waited. When the food arrived one dish was cold and the "steak" (steak and eggs ) was short rib. The eggs were inedible and rather than remake them, they reheated and returned them to the table. The waiter and manager were apologetic. They tried to handle it professionally after the all round experience had been a disaster. It was the worst restaurant experience I have ever had."

  • "My wife and I went to the Elm for our anniversary dinner. The food was good, although not particularly amazing. However, the service was terrible. Brusque, inattentive, and seemingly overwhelmed by a not that busy Friday night crowd. I was very disappointed and will not go back. It's really too bad, as I was excited about having a fine dining establishment in the neighborhood for special occasions."

  • "The Elm is a very lovely space. Presentation of food was perfect and quality of the food was very good /food was quite delicious. Small portions, embarrassingly so, were disappointing , especially with the high end prices.The small martini glasses were a disappointment as well. The restaurant was almost empty at 7:15 when we arrived until 10PM when we left and yet service was slow. A note about making a reservation for the Elm: We wanted to dine at The Elm at 8PM that evening but the only time available on Open Table was 7:15 which is what we took. It is hard to understand why we could not get a later reservation since , as I mentioned, the restaurant was empty all evening. We really would have preferred the later time. "

  • "Our dinner experience at The Elm was perfect. The space is gorgeous and the meal was delicious. More than that, though, was the service. Excellent restaurants are everywhere and maybe because of that, (Williamsburg especially) terrible service is not uncommon. Owners sometimes ride on a chef's reputation or good reviews and they let service slide, leaving diners to feel they're being given the privilege of dining there, rather than the other way around. Not so at The Elm. The manager and waitress especially (a delightful woman from South Africa) made us feel special and gave us just the right amount of attention. Go for the food and ambience, return for the unparalleled service. "

  • "The service and food was excellent. Our party of four shared 5 small plates and one large (family style) plate. We had two vegtable plates, the bass, fish and chips, and foie gras. All plates were delicious but very small and we thought too pricey. ($22.00 for small plate) There are so many options in Williamsburg and wish we had gone elsewhere. We decided on The Elm as we had just arrived at the hotel after a long day of travel and did not have the energy to hunt for other dining options"

  • "We have eaten at The Elm several times, starting with when it first opened. Sadly, it is a fading star. Most of the original kitchen staff has moved on and Chef Liebrandt is absent most of the time. The quality of the food has deteriorated. The food is wildly overpriced for what is served. The Elm has evolved into a bar that serves food at tables adjacent to the bar area, and is not focused on being a restaurant, which is a shame because Liebrandt is phenomenally talented although one would never know it from the food currently being served."

  • "I have wanted to go to one of Paul Liebrandt's restaurants since he canme to NY. I recently took a demo class he gave at Macy's DeGustibus. The food was fabulous. So I made a res for The Elm and was just as blown away. Every dish was great! I only wish the other couple didn't cancel so that we couls have ordered more choices, especially the Lobster cassoulet which I had in the class. The lamb neck was sooooo delicious. Hope to go back again."

  • "I found Mr. Liebrandt's work at Corton at little too fussy, but at The Elm he's hitting the sweet spot where beguiling and complex taste profiles mix with great execution and accessibility.   • "Corton had been one of my favorite fine dining experiences. So when he left Corton, the difference was palpable. It took us awhile to make our way to Williamsburg - it's not a part of the city we go to. What I really enjoyed about the overall experience was the blending of Paul's impeccable approach to food design and execution with a far more casual, approachable environment. The foie gras was superb as was the bass. The wines, not surprisingly, were also excellent. "

  • "We had a great experience the first time we went there so we decided to go back. However when we went back o Saturday night it was a totally different experience. The food was fine though a very small menu. However the service was horrible. I had to ask for bread even though everyone else was given it around me. I had to keep asking for flat water because they insisted on giving me sparkling and then the food took a very long time to be served. These things might seem small but when you want a nice night out, they just add up to an annoying experience "

  • "The plate was presented beautifully but the food flavour was not good enough to justify the price. The service is off. I was very disappointed with pork belly. The fat portion of the pork belly was in the solid white uncooked state when the dish was served. The taste of the components to the dish was not well balanced. I will not recommend this restaurant to my friends in general because there are much better restaurants at this price level in Manhattan. "

  • "Everything is beautiful, but when they say you should each order 2-3 dishes, they aren't kidding. The dishes tend to be tiny gems. Know that you are in for about $150+/person and have the right mindset. Like an idiot, I didn't research the menu before inviting some friends from out of town, so I ended up paying for all of us rather than saddling them with a large bill. Still, it was a phenomenal meal. The cocktails are expertly made. The sommelier was kind and helpful. The service was warm and well timed. I was there a bit early (6pm) so it was dead, but I imagine it heats up later in the evening. I'll be back for sure. "

It was tasty - well at least the two mushrooms and three greens underneath it - but not much more. For all the hype I was disappointed. Even the cocktail was little more than over priced juice."

  • "Excellent food in the land of the hipsters which made the experience a bit uneven. Cool vibe with waiters in jeans acting the way they think old school waiters should act. Meanwhile almost impossible to order a drink. Drinks and coffee did not live up to the food. Too much poor quality ice diluted a cocktail which had potential."
