The Elkridge Furnace InnHistoric EleganceExceptional dinner in an historic inn. Well worth the drive through the Elkridge suburb of Baltimore.5/21/2013 12:00:00 AMA cut above the restFor a neighborhood gem it passes for fine dining handily...:) You will like it.
Note:
If you order the cheese plate and it's cubes of cheese like you'd get from a deli for a party, let them know the error of their ways. The rest is great!5/21/2013 12:00:00 AMWe came for our 22nd anniversary. We came for our 22nd anniversary. And they remembered and made occasion a special one. First-class service. Waiter was first-class. Food was excellent. Seafood bisque could have used more seafood.5/18/2013 12:00:00 AMMaryland historyThe Elkridge Furnace Inn is an interesting piece of Maryland history. The building and the grounds are very nice. It would be a lovely place for a wedding.
The food was very good, and the wine list comprehensive. You have to try the French Onion Soup.5/16/2013 12:00:00 AMAlways a fantastic choiceThe Elkridge Furnace Inn is pricey, but you get a lot of value for your money. The historic building is beautifully decorated, the service is outstanding, and the food is superlative. In addition, the portions are generous, unlike some expensive places. It's also the little touches, like the complimentary "amuse-bouche" appetizer. For this recent occasion, I had joined their e-mail list, and when it was time for my wife's birthday, they sent us a $25 coupon.5/14/2013 12:00:00 AMVery good foodBeing from an area with very good service, we found the service a little less than great, but adequate; however, the locals we went to dinner with thought the service was fine. (I think their expectations are lower.) On the other hand, the food was great. Everyone loved their food and none of the items we had were deficient.
I would add one thing though: I had no forwarning of the fixed price menu for Mothers' Day. I checked the menu online beforehand, but we ended up paying significantly more because of the "special" pricing on that day. Beware of similar situations on holidays.5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat eveningThe food was excellent and we were able to chat in the relaxing atmosphere. We are already planning to return! The staff was very friendly and thoughtful. The menu has very unique items and the waiter was very knowledgeable in guiding our choices.5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMWe have dined at the ElkridgeWe have dined at the Elkridge Furnace Inn several times and have always enjoyed it. The menu was seasonal French meaning it was very seasonal but like most French Food very filling and tasty. Our service was so/so on this experience. Our water glasses frequently went empty and our server was good but choppy. Our server would pay great attention to our table but disappear for stretches but would come back and be very attentive. This made for a strange pace for our meal. Not bad but not fantastic either. This is not the norm there. Also we may have put the pressure on them because we came early to stroll the grounds but we were interrupted by a rain storm and the took us earlier than our reservation time (about 1/2 an hour).5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMAnother wonderful mealDined at the Furnace Inn to celebrate a birthday on a Thursday . As always, it was a wonderful experience. The complimentary split bottle of sparkling wine was the perfect way to begin as it provided each of us with a generous glass to enjoy while we perused the menu. Both of us had the prosciutto salad, which was dressed perfectly. My lamb entrée was cooked as ordered. My companion's veal saltimbocca was a generous portion that was finished at home. Tim's professional service added to our pleasant evening at this historic inn. This is our go to restaurant, not just for special occasions, but also for spontaneous meals.5/9/2013 12:00:00 AMHistoric TreatLoved the history of the home turned restaurant! Great service, great history, great ambience, mouth-watering food. Really pricey, though.5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMCelebration gemWe celebrated Carl's birthday with a delicious meal attentive service, a visit from the chef, and a birthday champagne toast provided by the restaurant!5/3/2013 12:00:00 AMSuperb! The restaurant was intimate and charmingly decorated but the food stole the show. The menu selections were inventive, skillfully prepared and beautifully presented. The waiter seemed out of character however. Although well knowledgeable he had a very casual nature.5/1/2013 12:00:00 AMLovely dinnerMy husband and I celebrated our third wedding anniversary there and we were seated in a corner table that gave us lots of privacy. It's a cozy place to celebrate.4/30/2013 12:00:00 AMWonderful Little Place!Came here to use a deal we got on Living Social and were not disappointed. I had the cream of crab soup to start and had a NY strip steak for dinner. My husband also had a NY strip but chose to get his blackened while I went with one of the sauces. The food tasted fresh and our waiter was very friendly. We had been there for a wedding a few months back and while there was a wedding reception happening while we were at dinner, you could hardly tell because of how well they have the spaces separated. We will defiantly return!4/28/2013 12:00:00 AMService here is impeccable.Service here is impeccable. For an expensive restaurant portions are reasonable. Great care is taken in preparation of food and presentation. The wine bottles are very pricey. Food is excellent.4/27/2013 12:00:00 AMExceeded all expectationsThe food, the wine and the service were all outstanding.4/27/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat food and very friendlyGreat food and very friendly and helpful staff. The food is fantastic, an excellent wine list and the service outstanding.4/24/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent food, romantic spotI arrived there on time with my reservation and we were seated promptly. I booked this restaurant due to the fact that it was voted as a top 5 romantic restaurant spot and it fit the bill. Service, food and ambience were far above any restaurant I've visited before for a romantic occasion, i.e. The Melting Pot. I'd highly recommend this place if you're looking for excellent food, great service and a romantic night even though it is pricey.4/20/2013 12:00:00 AMEverything about our visitEverything about our visit was fantastic. Nothing more to say, simply fantastic. Had a great waiter and wished we remembered his name. We were there on the 19th and sat to the left in a green room that had a large mirror on the wall. Sat next to the window and could see the front porch.4/19/2013 12:00:00 AMAs always, the food and serviceAs always, the food and service was perfect -- one of our favorite places to go!4/18/2013 12:00:00 AMNot cheap, but great foodNot cheap, but great food and experience for those seeking a fine dining experience. The food and service has always been great here. Very inventive menu along with some classics. We make it a habit of coming here at least once a year and leave very satisfied every time.4/18/2013 12:00:00 AMThe food was excellent withThe food was excellent with a gourmet touch. Fresh flowers were on the table. Servings were ample but not overwhelming. The chef visited our table to find out how we liked the food. I appreciated that personal touch.4/16/2013 12:00:00 AMThis was our fourth time andThis was our fourth time and it was fantastic as before. We brought friends for the first time and plan a return visit with them soon. Every room is an individual treasure.4/13/2013 12:00:00 AMMy partner and I were tryingMy partner and I were trying this restaurant out with our Groupon. We couldn't believe the quality of the food, excellent fresh ingredients, wonderful flavor throughout every course, the wait staff was attentive, no attitude, quiet, pleasant ambience. One of the best food experiences ever! Thank you Furnace Inn!4/6/2013 12:00:00 AMVery nice menu; selectionsVery nice menu; selections wonderfully prepared and presented; service was friendly & efficient. Very attractive and calm atmosphere. Only negative is that it is a bit pricey - $300+ for a 4-person dinner with 1 round of drinks and a $32 bottle of wine is on the high side. So, nice as it is, I'll probably only return for a special occasion dinner.4/6/2013 12:00:00 AMI love this place! A littleI love this place! A little pricey, but perfect for a romantic, special occasion.4/5/2013 12:00:00 AMEverything about this placeEverything about this place is wonderful!! Have never been disappointed and have quickly become a "regular."4/5/2013 12:00:00 AM“Even better than last time”If you're looking for tasty food with slow European style service this is for you. A great place to linger with an excellent wine list and a menu that changes quarterly. My husband and I were out for a romantic date night and the place was perfect. The atmosphere was warm and cozy without being cramped or rushed. I had the lamb, pictured below. It was tender, well spiced and I nick-named it lamb-tastic it was so good. Definitely order it before it's off the menu. Jack has the Saltimbocca. It too was good, but the sauce was a little sweet for our taste. We split a dessert and were quite satisfied. The restaurant grounds looked quite beautiful and I am looking forward to dining again when the grounds are in full bloom!4/3/2013 12:00:00 AMEntree portions were large.Entree portions were large. Will probably split an entree next time. We were disappointed they have discontinued the Price fixed menu. The food was excellent in every way and the menu had a lot of variety to choose from. An excellent dining experience overall as usual. We highly recommend this restaurant.3/27/2013 12:00:00 AMThe brunch was amazing. AThe brunch was amazing. A lot of food. I've never had a mediocre meal at the Inn and will continue to visit it regularly.3/24/2013 12:00:00 AMSuperb! The Elkridge Furnace Inn was wonderful! The service was fantastic and we will definitely be back. We loved this dining experience.3/23/2013 12:00:00 AMI was hesitant at first becauseI was hesitant at first because the surrounfing neighborhood was incongruent with a fine dinig establishment. However, the food and service quovkly3/23/2013 12:00:00 AMThis is our second trip toThis is our second trip to Elkridge Furnace Inn. The food was excellent and so was the service. Highly recommend this restaurant.3/23/2013 12:00:00 AMAn enjoyable dining experience. The food was excellent. We appreciated the quality of the ingredients as well as the presentation. The dining area was pleasant, welcoming, an appropriate temperature control, with minimal noise levels despite the intimacy of the seating. Service was professional and correct. We liked the variety of choices, something for every palate. The pairings of tasting size wines with dinner was also a pleasant surprise for me... a good pairing as well as an appropriate amount for a light drinker who needs to drive home.3/21/2013 12:00:00 AMHad an excellent time. ItHad an excellent time. It was my first time for brunch and my companion's first time at the Elkridge Furnace Inn. We loved the food and had excellent service, we will definitely be back! Very friendly atmosphere...3/14/2013 12:00:00 AMA very nice restaurant forA very nice restaurant for a special occasion, with fine Continental cuisine, colonial era decor, and a refined, pleasantly subdued ambiance where conversation is easy. It's location is off the beaten path, but that adds to its attractiveness.3/14/2013 12:00:00 AMWe've dined at the FurnaceWe've dined at the Furnace Inn many times and always had a wonderful experience. The only reason for the four stars under service is due to the interaction with our waiter. It was a bit more casual than what we've experienced in the past here. This will not keep us from returning.3/10/2013 12:00:00 AMAwesome restaurant!!! Owner/chefAwesome restaurant!!! Owner/chef treats you like royalty but at the same time makes you feel like an old friend!1/25/2013 12:00:00 AMNever dissappointing Elkridge FurnaWe love this Elkridge Furnace Inn for fine dining experience.
