  • "Stumbled onto this place while looking on line for lunch venue near BWI. Took a friend for a birthday dinner. First thing we noticed, aside from the lovely old house and furnishings was how quiet it was. One of my biggest gripes in DC restaurant scene is the noise levels make it very hard to have a conversation. Wine list good and not too pricey. Beet salad and french onion soup were excellent. I had pork tenderloin which was very good and friend had mahi mahi - also well prepared with tasty side. Cholate nut tart was a bit rich. Could offer a bit more on lighter side - maybe lemon or lime as opposed to so much chocolate. Food prices are a bit steep, but this was a special occasion. And, there's plenty of parking."

  • "We arrive late for our reservation...called to let staff know. Arrived at 8pm. Were directed to a room towards back of restaurant. Only two other diners finishing their meal in that room .They left soon after we arrived, so we ate our meal alone. Couldn't help feeling we were pushed into a back room...all tables were set for guests except the long banquet table that had napkins just lying on the table. When asked if the restaurant was full, we were told by our server Lisa, that no we were put in that room, because she was staying late and could serve us. In the hallway outside the door of our room we could see the busboy station where we witnessed him scraping food off the plates before he took them to the kitchen. The food was just OK."

  • "Food was great, but when we had dessert, we had to wait over 10 mins for coffee which we ultimately cancelled. While our primary waiter was charming and efficient, some of the other staff was a bit creepy and poorly trained (reaching across to grab plates when clearing, not smiling, no grace). Anyway, for these prices, I would expect better. It's a shame to have to give this rating since you can tell they want to be total package and their chief is talented. Anyway, perhaps they will have corrected some of these issues in the future."

  • "I had heard about this place the day I had moved to Elkridge. The history and scenery of the restaurant was what had lured me in. The experience would have been enjoyable had it not been for our waitress, Lisa. She was rude, snobby, and she downright ignored us throughout our evening. I have no plans to return to this place again. It was not worth the $100 I spent that evening."

  • "We went to the furnace Inn to celebrate our 30th wedding anniversary. The staff was very attentive, the owner and chef both came to our table and chatted with us. The food was very good. I had the filet and my wife had the lamb-3-ways. The crab crostini appetizer was excellent. The restaurant is in a house like setting with seperate roome that can accomodate 10-12 people, perfect for a small party/gathering. Would definitely go back."

  • "My wife and I dined at the Furnance Inn on Saturday night. It was our first time eating there. We eat out a good bit and would consider ourselves foodies. I was disappointed in our meal. We had the cheese cake app and crepes. These were good but not great. I had the Red Snapper. The filet was nice size however it was overcooked. My wife had the lamb three ways this was very good. Dessert was the best course of the evening and was three different ice cream bars. I had two martinis a pinneapple infusd and dirty. The dirty martini was so saltey it was undrinkable. We enjoyed our experiance but will probably not return. There are too many good restruants to spend $200 on a mediocore meal."

Tucked away off of Washington Blvd just off 895, one wouldn't expect to find such a special place in such a beautiful setting. The buildings are well maintained, the staff very attentive, food delicious, and atmosphere perfect for a wonderful evening out with friends or family. We will definitely return when there is a special occasion to celebrate! The only downside was no bar to wait for our table or to linger after our meal to lengthen our enjoyable visit! Understanding that the facility is not conducive, we just hated leaving."

  • "I was looking for a place near the BWI airport to take some friends that flew into town and were staying there. I found this on Open Table and decided to give it a try as it was 2 miles from their hotel. The food was OUTSTANDING and so was the wine list. The crabcakes are as good as any place in town. My wide is Gluten free and vegan and had no problem finding something to eat. I was pleasantly suprised to find one of the better wine lists in Baltimore area. We ordered a very reasonably French wine off of their "close out section" of their wine list that was delicious. The menu has a lot of items that you will not find elsewhere. We will definitely go back. A quick note..it's OFF the beaten path and I needed my navigation to find it."

  • "So you take this place with amazing food, impeccable service in a historic building along a river bank within 10 miles from a major city, and you'd expect it to be packed on a Friday evening.. but it wasn't. Which was wonderful for me and my guest, but not for the staff, who deserve much better, So I'm here to convince you that you should go: You're in for a treat. Yes, it's a little hard to find, and it's a little ways out of town, but that makes for home-grown herbs and locally-sourced vegetables. Everything is fresh, tasty, well-balanced, and beautifully presented. We went with the soups and fish of the day (tomato and red pepper bisque, seafood chowder, and red snapper) and crab cakes, and couldn't have been more satisfied."

  • "We were a group of 5 celebrating the safe return home of my Marine son from Afghanistan. We love historic buildings and great dining experiences and we hit the jack pot. We spent over 3 1/2 hrs over this delightful brunch. The wait staff, Jennifer, I believe, was non intrusive, helpful, informative and the perfect wait person for this chatty family. The food was well prepared and presented and we all ordered different everything and basically we licked the plates clean. High recommend this spot for any occasion !"

  • "Elkridge Furnace Inn is a restaurant filled with ambiance of the 18 th & 19 centuries.you dine. The wine list is good , but pricey. They off pre-fix meals, a suggested menu for the evening, and a regular menu which changes every three months. The delicious and unique food are creations of Chef Dan and his family. After discovering this gem 15 years ago.,we celebrate special holidays there, lunches and dinners with friends, afternoon high teas, and brunches on Sunday. We participate in the History Suppers: historical lectures followed my a lunch from that historical time. Spectacular. The Inn has a following. /be Expensive, but it is worth the price. Chef Dan often visits the tables to see how all are enjoying the meal."

  • "As always a nice setting for a nice meal in a historic building. Staff was attentive and friendly. The wine list is very good with a good variety. The staff knew the wines as well. The menu has a good variety of French based cuisine choices. Most dishes come nicely plated, but a few could use a little extra attention (creeps and especially the cheese plate). I ordered medium rare veal which came out essentially seared. The flavor was good but most was inedible. I perhaps should have known since I overheard a nearby table say the meat came out undercooked. I hope The Chef/Owner was not in the kitchen that night. Nice restaurant, usually good for special occasions, but needs to make sure it is not resting on its prior good reviews."

  • "From our very warm greeting at the door to the minute we left EFI, it was another fine experience. The service here is very good, but I can definitely see where some people may feel it is a bit uptight. For appetizers, my wife had the savory crepes and I had the French onion soup. For our entrees, I had the veal porterhouse and my wife had the lamb three ways. For dessert, I had a hazelnut and chocolate "tart" and my wife had the blood orange crème brulee. Most everything on the menu has a suggested wine pairing, plus they have a pretty good selection of wines by the bottle. There is plenty of parking on site. Make a reservation, especially on the weekend. The restaurant filled up quickly on a Saturday evening."

It is moderately expensive, although deservedly so since the quality is very high, and it remains one of the top regional restaurants. A warm welcome to a romantic old house, discrete but friendly, not too noisy since it is broken up into separate rooms. Wine list very extensive and interesting, some at/just under $30, most $50 and up. A Groupon allowed me to get a $60 bottle with a relatively clear conscience. A great destination for a special night."

  • "The restaurant made it seem like they were trying to hide the fact they were participating in restaurant week. They gave us the normal menu and we had to ask twice if there was a restaurant week menu. The waitress seemed bothered that we would be ordering off that menu instead. There was also confusion about what was included on menu for restaurant week. I got the feeling the restaurant is not fully on-board the whole restaurant week idea- in the future, they should just not participate. Service was pretty bad - we had to ask for 4 things that either did not come out or came out incorrectly. I was looking forward to this spot, but overall, it was a disappointing dining experience."

Our server was Kevin, he was very attentative, food and wine was excellent. Portions very generous (I brought home half of my lunch). We were seated upstairs in a small room with a fireplace. The room was full by mid-way through lunch but the noise level was low. I would highly recommend this restaurant to friends and family and go again."

Our dinner was great. We went during Baltimore Restaurant week and sampled their special 3-course menu. The food was incredible and the service was great. Needless to say, we will be coming back soon to try more of the menu and cant wait to have our wedding reception at Elkridge Furnance Inn."
