A word from Elephant Walk, The - Boston
The Elephant Walk serves Award-Winning Cambodian and French cuisine. We also feature strong VEGETARIAN and GLUTEN-FREE menus! With so much depth and breadth to our menus, both exotic and familiar, we have something for just about everyone. Cambodian cooking is beautiful and delicious, but still rare in America. Less hot and sweet than Thai, richer and more complex than Vietnamese, the complex spice pastes that are the foundation of many Cambodian dishes reflect Cambodia’s Indian ancestry. Our Cambodian menu features both traditional Cambodian dishes and originals created by our Chef/Owners Longteine and Nadsa de Monteiro, a Cambodian mother-daughter team born and raised in Phnom Penh. Why French too? Cambodia was a French colony for a century, ending in the 1950s. Consequently, our chef-owners were French-educated and grew up speaking French and enjoying French cuisine too. In other words, our Cambodian-and-French theme is an authentic reflection of…us!

We did the $15 lunch for Dine-Out Boston. We had a choice of two courses. We each ordered our own entree and one starter and one dessert which we split. The Rouleaux (two pork spring rolls with side greens & dipping sauce) was very good. The Crevettes Kep Ser Mer (Shrimp & Vegtables in coconut milk) also very good. The Filet de Cabillaud au Gingembre et Haicots de Soja (Cod with ginger) was a little heavy on the soy which overpowered the well prepared cod and soaked the rice. The Mousse aux Fruits de Passion (passion fruit mousse with fresh pineapple) was excellent. All dishes were beautifully arranged and presented. The service was excellent. The value was outstanding.

It is restaurant week. Nice scene especially when you sit beside the window. Music warm and low-level enough. You can whisper to your lover. Romantic light and candle-although it is electronic. A group of six sat beside us without making a lot of noises. Waitress beautiful and warm hearted.

My only negative is that they initially seated our party of three at a two-top, even though we had a reservation and there were plenty of tables. We asked to be moved and we were seated at a four-top with a bench on one side. The food was good and while the menu is tight, there are options that will probably please various tastes. I would definitely go again.

My dining partner and I thoroughly enjoyed our first dinner. The wine list was great, and the prixe fix was wonderful, many flavors, and nice presentation. Wish I lived in boston as I would go to this dining place a lot. The mousse dessert was incredible as were the rouleaux.

We lived in Boston 20 years ago and the elephant walk was one of our favorite restaurants. When we visited Boston last week, we went back to try it again. It was just as good as we remember. Excellent, fresh and tasty food. Our teenagers even enjoyed it and our youngest ordered off the children's menu. Our favorite dishes were the lac loc and the chicken citronella. Yum!

We dined with friends, and were only challenged because the menu had so many offerings that fit out dietary restrictions. One of us complained that her food was too salty. The manager left the dish on the table, but soon returned with a much-improved version. Then he took away the first dish. That was outstanding service! We are so sorry to hear this location will be closing at the end of October, but moving to the South End. That's a bit less convenient for us, but we'll follow the Elephant, for sure!

My boyfriend and I went to Elephant Walk on Saturday night and loved it! We had the mussels for the appetizer and the broth that they were sitting in was delicious. The bread was okay, not the freshest, but tasted amazing when dipped in the broth. My boyfriend got the grilled flat iron steak and I got the crevettes amrita. Both were wonderful, but I was a little jealous of his steak. The mushroom sauce was delightful. After that, we had the creme brulee for dessert. It wasn't the best one I've ever had, but definitely topped off the evening nicely.

We started with two specials-- an avocado soup and a brown rice/microgreen/cacao nib salad. It is a disservice to call that salad a "salad," it was so full of flavor and texture I wanted to eat a vat of it. Soup was alright-- extremely sour. We lingered over our appetizers and the bread basket for quite a while, as our server kept going to the table next to ours to chat, instead of coming back to get our entree & wine orders. For entrees, the tofu amrita (veganized from shrimp) had the most delicious sauce, but had more onions than tofu or peppers. The noodle dish my companion got (also a special) was awesome-- sour and salty, with strips of omelette. Neither was that much better than a less-fancy Cambodian joint, though, for the price.

We were given an Open Table Gift Card. We had to select one restaurant to which we'd want to return a number of times, since the value was so large and you must choose only one restaurant at which to use the full amount. As we were enjoying our meal, we realized we had chosen well. There were many choices, even though we have limited diets. The food was delicious. The host was friendly. Our server was a bit overwhelmed, but no worries, she came through with each request.

The restaurant begins with a delicious smell of rice. Choices are French and Cambodian, and we went for latter. A citrus and avocado chilled soup was delicious and textured. The main dishes had somewhat similar Thai-related flavors but were simple/elegant to see, a pleasure to eat as the sauce is absorbed into the rice. Service unobtrusive and well timed. Wine choices somewhat expensive, but altogether this is a special but not formal restaurant in an interesting location, well worth it.

I've been to three of the Elephant Walk restaurants, and the one on Beacon is my favorite. I usually get the tasting menu and did so again this time. The food was delicious, service was ok, but not fantastic, and it was surprisingly quiet for a Saturday night at 8pm. The combo of French and "Cambodian" makes for a tasty treat and it's hard to go wrong with any of the food options, especially if you are willing to be adventurous and trust in the chef and menu. Some get squeamish when reason of squid ink or whatnot in their food. My advice is to go there, don't stress about the ingredients and savor with an open mind. Foodies will like this place, and need no other intro except I've found quality varies by location.

The service was superb and the atmosphere festive; the food, however, was a bit underwhelming. The spring roll appetizer with pork was a tasty start. The lamb entree was a bit bland and the pork tenderloin pretty conventional. I would try this restaurant one or two more times but so far it seems overrated.

I'd heard this was among the best restaurants in town but the Cambodian shrimp was very bland as was the salmon and they were absurdly overpriced for what they were. On the other hand, the cocktails and the duck crepe appetizer were delicious and the ambiance was nice if crowded and noisy.

Our guests were intrigued by a restaurant that had a dual menu of Cambodian and French entrees. I have been to the Elephant Walk many times over the years and always order the Phnom Phen (?) soup; I recommended this soup to our guests and they agreed it is unique and delicious. Our waiter was helpful with questions regarding the menu and checked in routinely to make sure we had what we needed especially drinks. We were not rushed and I believe our guests took away a good dining experience that they can't get in Cleveland, Ohio.

Good food and service. Ran $300 incl tip for 5 adults incl 2 bottles of wine, each person had appetizer or salad or soup + entrée, and 2 desserts. My wife's dish, a kind of risotto, was cold, but that was taken care of quickly and politely. Staff were sensitive to our need to get from there to another occasion at a particular time. Tofu and the risotto type dish were especially good.

I took my husband here for his birthday dinner because it is one of our most favorite places in Boston. Yet again, it did not disappoint. Must try the Roulaude for an appetizer... we get it every time because we dream about them for days after! I had the steak entree this time (for the first time) and it was unbelievable. We had the tuna cievche for an appetizer as well and it was also to. die. for. There are several options for vegetarian diners as well as meat-eaters. Lots of soft candlelight, wonderfully cozy feel. Our waiter, as usual, was a fantastic help when deciding between two options on the menu. We have never tried the Elephant Walk for brunch or eaten at any other location, but this one for dinner is outstanding!!
