A word from The Edison
On May 8th, 2008, The Edison opened its doors and became a fixture in Ft. Myers dining and nightlife. Located on historic McGregor Boulevard, just one mile south of the world famous Edison & Ford Winter Estates, The Edison is a tribute to one of Ft. Myer's most favored past residents.

Upon stepping across the threshold of The Edison Restaurant, Bar and Banquet Center, visitors are taken to a simpler era with memorabilia and decor complimented by our beautiful outdoor porch and Terrace Bar overlooking the famous Fort Myers Country Club. Our spacious, yet private dining facilities are perfect for weddings, banquets and private parties. Each of our dining areas offer elegance with a touch of warmth from a time gone by.

  • "Waited over an hour for food only to discover the ingredients for our kids meals were not in the restaurant at all and they had to go out to retrieve them. Two meals were incorrect and the Manager would not stop cleaning dishes behind the bar to come speak with us. This is not the same restaurant it used to be and many if not most of the items have been removed from the menu. Grouper and Chicken (in various forms) seem to be the only items available. Maybe acceptable as a bar/lounge, but not casual dining!"

  • "We had a groupon and had not been here in years. Our tuna shooter appetizer was excellent as was my salmon entree and key lime pie.. My husband's Tuna entree was quite fatty in the middle but perfectly prepared. They have happy hour 4-7 so that was great! Our server was friendly, attentive and knowledgeable. Seating choices were indoors, outdoor covered bar or outdoor. We would definitely consider returning."

  • "there were only 3 other tables with people at them. so my reservation was a mute point. we were told it was under new management when i asked where the menu i saw online was.. almost everything was gone so if you were going calamari or steak or something dont bother. they have a couple appetizers, pizzas, 4 or 5 sandwiches and 4 or 5 entree's. it has now become a pizza place basically. the spinache and artichoke dip was VERY bland. we ordered soup and our entrees. they brought them out to us at the same time on the same tray! thank you for making us choose which food to let go cold so we could eat the other! my flat bread was burnt with very little tenderloin on it. my husbands grouper sandwich was missing stuff and was VERY small."

  • "The food at Edison was great, the only flaw in the experience was the waitress seemed to have forgotten about our request for drink refills. I finally had to go up to the maître de to inquire as to the delay, after we had basically finished eating even though we had indicated halfway through the meal that we would like refills. At that point, the manager did come over to our table and got things back on track."

  • "We went to the Edison for the first time for dinner. Web site said smart casual for dress. The hostess had no idea the web site said that. And she didn't know what that meant. We were over dressed. It was prime rib night. Also a wedding was going on. I asked for mine medium well. My husband had medium. When mine came out it was so well done. It looked like they put it on the grille and just burned it. I sent it back and he was suppose to bring one that looked like the one my husband had. He came right back out and the piece he brought me was so rare, there was a pool of blood on the plate from them putting the sauce on it. I did not eat it."

  • "I had the opportunity of meeting up with some long ago friends. And we all had an excellent experience. We had a great time talking and reuniting. we were able to communicate with not a lot of loud noises. The food was wonderful. The service was excellent. I would definitely go back again and recommend this restaurant to visitors and locals."

  • "The restaurant was historical, as you passed through the main doors with pictures of Edison, Firestone and Ford to name a few of the turn of the century giants. There was an inside dining section and an outdoor one as well that overlooked the golf course. As it was a pleasant day we chose to dine on the outdoor terrace which was covered and had additional gas heating lamps for added warmth. Our server greeted us promptly asking for our drink order and returned in a decent amount of time to take our food order. The food was enjoyed by myself and my wife. The other guests seemed to be having a good time, many laughing in conversation. The price was very reasonable and I would recommend it to anyone in the area, both visitors and residents."

  • "Went with 5 other friends and everyone split different things. I shared the blackened grouper sandwich with slaw and fries and it was good. Two others shared the steak flatbread and said it was good, but the steak wasn't very tender and there wasn't much of it on there. They enjoyed the atmosphere outside though, except there was smoking at the next table and it was blowing in our direction unfortunately."

  • "The staff was great, the food was delicious! We were a party of 6 and we each enjoyed our meal. I ordered a pizza & when it came out it was a little well done but edible. About 2 bites in the manager comes to the table with a brand new pizza and says he wasn't happy with the first one & had the cook remake it. All 6 of us were blown away by the service. We would all definitely eat here again! I had asked when making the reservation for a quit corner for our special occasion, we had a great corner booth which was very conducive for what we needed to accomplish. It was easy to see everyone around the table & the seating helped to keep the conversation flowing. Can't wait to go back!"

  • "What a wonderful place for lunch! We only had half sandwiches and soup (the soup was excellent) and then shared wonderful desserts! Would be interested in coming back for more of a meal!   • "Took out of town friends here and it was embarrassing. Our waiter was new and was training another new waiter. We were informed the Prime Rib would be ready in 30 minutes, which was fine. We ordered an appetizer which was grouper nuggets which were good. We then ordered and got our meal in a normal amount of time. The salads were ok, prime rib just ok. Not something I would ever order there again, pretty gristle but cooked as requested. The waiter had to be reminded constantly to fill our drinks, asked why no bread and he didn't know why, asked for a pina colada and said they are not making drinks with that machine anymore. After spending nearly $100 for a meal it was a real bust. Won't go back."

We were a little disappointed that when we called for the reservation no one told us the only place we could dine that evening because everything else outside and inside were booked for private parties.   • "I made reservations for The Edison, based on the photos and menu that were attached to open table. I was prepared for a nice, romantic dinner with my wife. Instead we were seated at the bar area. I asked if there was any other seating, but to my surprise, this was it. The banquet room is what was featured, and it was hosting a wedding. Fine, we can deal, I guess. The bar was a bar, nothing special about it. It was loud and filled with people. The menu looked nothing like the menu online. I was very upset about that, but again I could deal with that. If you want a steak, this is not the place, it wasn't an option. I was prepared to order a stuffed flounder or the salmon. I ended up with a burger. Its a bar not a restaurant, be prepared."

  • "We were very unhappy with the whole experience. The iced tea tasted very strong, the server said it shouldn't be because it came out of a machine,we sent it back anyway. My husbands fish was so strong tasting, he sent it back and ordered a pizza instead. My dinner came out before my salad,I asked where it was,then another server brought it. I would have thought that the salad would have been first. My meal was decent tasting, but the overall experience was poor. I really expected the manager to not charge for the second choice (the pizza ). We had a reservation and were seated , at first, in the noisy bar. We asked to be moved and we were."

  • "this was our second time at the edison and we enjoyed it almost as much as the first. we were seated in the bar area and it was more "energetic" than the area we were in previously. i had the steak and lobster special and it was reasonably priced although my steak was cooked a tab more than i preferred. my wife had the seafood pasta and found out that she didn't care for the pesto sauce. this was not edison's fault it was just her taste buds. we had the calamari for appetizer and it was wonderful. we definately will be back."

Neither my wife or I could fault any of the food we had. The flavors were very good, and we wish we had been to this restaurant months ago. We have only moved to the area recently and enjoy dining out, and this restaurant is on our list to return to."

  • "I took my wife to the Edison for her birthday. We found the Edison to be quaint and different enough to make it a “special” place for a quiet dinner without too much fuss by staff. We had a table overlooking the golf course. The dining dress was anywhere from golf-course-casual to office-chic. But the best part was the selection and quality of the food. I had the Filet Mignon topped with Gorgonzola butter and crispy onions. My wife enjoyed chicken stuffed with boursin cheese, prosciutto, spinach, with a roasted red pepper demiglace. Both were excellent! With wine and salad for each of us plus sharing a dessert, the check was just about a dollar per year of my wife’s age. We will definitely return to try the other menu selections."
