The DutchWell done all aroundFrom the food to the service to the decor this is an excellent NYC restaurant. The decor provides a great view and the food choices are different but in a good way. They have the traditional dishes but with a twist. Would definitely recommend.6/15/2013 12:00:00 AMA great restaurant with excellentA great restaurant with excellent food and a good service. A little bit noisy.6/13/2013 12:00:00 AMAmazing experienceI was very impressed with The Dutch. The ambiance of the place is very cool, and the food was out of this world, I had the duck and my boyfriend has the NY strip, they were both perfectly done. Appetizers were also fantastic so were the drinks. Don't miss the little oyster sandwich, we loved it! The waiter was very attentive even though the place was packed, he was always there when we needed him. Food came out in a timely manner, overall I have nothing bad to say about the Dutch. Highly recommended.6/10/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat serviceAltough İ made my reservation 1 week in advance they wanted to give us a table at the back when there was an emty table close to the bar.İ was told they were reserved.İ also had a reservation and came right on time.
Anyway besides the table issue we enjoyed our brunch, loved the space. Our service was great. We thank the lady who served us.İ will definitely come again and also suggest to everyone.Thanks.
Gul Hurgel6/9/2013 12:00:00 AMConsistently Excellent! We always enjoy our experience at the Dutch. The food continues to impress us and the service is always wonderful.6/8/2013 12:00:00 AMBig flavors!Interesting culinary mash ups: Serious seafood, Korean, Indian, Thai. Decor is a beautiful homage to classy New York but not kitchy. I asked my waiter to choose a wine that would pair well with my dish: home run! I never drink cocktails but Dutch's are accessible and well edited. The coconut cream pie is a whipped cloud of yumminess.6/7/2013 12:00:00 AMThe women who received usThe women who received us at the door were not particularly pleasant, so that started our experience in a negative fashion. They acted as though they were doing us a favor in looking up our reservation. The service was fine when we could get our waiter's attention. The food was excellent, although the steak, while having good flavor, was gristly. The oysters were excellent. I was surprised at how noisy it was.6/6/2013 12:00:00 AMNeighborhood gemOn the edge of West Village The Dutch does not disappoint. Lively bar scene, great apps, diverse menu and divine desserts. Lamb was mouth watering, hanger steak very flavorful and Seasonal Char also great. Even the dessert cookie plate was full of surprises. Recommend.6/4/2013 12:00:00 AMAlwaysgreat. Never disappoints. Fried chicken night is my favorite. It never fails to wow a dinner guest.6/3/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat FoodI have to say I thought this was the best meal my wife and I had had for quite some time. I wanted to taste local cuisine of a seafood nature so asked waiter for recommendations. I had the octopus followed by the black sea bass. My wife had the beetroot followed by duck. The taste and texture of the food was excellent. The service friendly but unobtrusive and the atmosphere was warm and comfortable. The pricing was fair for the grade of food. What a gem of a restaurant!5/28/2013 12:00:00 AMMy favorite could be bettterWhen I come into Manhattan this is my favorite restaurant, bar none. The placement in the SOHO neighborhood, the exterior and interior design, the general atmosphere, and the wait staff make this, for me, a compelling place to be. However, while I'm no foodie, the quality of the food and its preparation can be a bit spotty. During this last visit the couple next to me had to return one of their plates because the food was cold. Ultimately, as I discussed with them before they left, they enjoyed their meal because it tasted wonderful, it was just cold. Looking at previous reviews, this (cold food) was a recurring theme - the theme continues. That being said, The Dutch will remain my Manhattan restaurant of choice.5/26/2013 12:00:00 AMAwesome Fried ChickenAlthought the majority of the menu is contemporary, on Monday's they have fabulous friend chicken. Personally, I'm a vegetarian but two people in our party ordered it and said it was the best they ever had!5/20/2013 12:00:00 AMAlways love it.Other than the cost (not inexpensive), one of my favorites.5/20/2013 12:00:00 AMConsistently deliciousI had gone here once before and loved it. I was nervous to return, because often the second visit is a letdown, but not this time. The Dutch was just as good the second time as it was the first. Delicious food, good atmosphere. Eager to go back again sometime soon.5/19/2013 12:00:00 AMA hot spot for the younger crowd! The food wasn't our favorite but the service was wonderful. All the food had a twist. I had salmon with pastrami spices. It was Ok.
Great oyster bar -5/19/2013 12:00:00 AMA Pleasant SurpriseMy original plan was to find Dutch-influenced cuisine (taking a trip to Amsterdam), but the only thing Dutch related in this restaurant is the name. The experience though was a wonderful surprise. The food was truly exquisite, filled with interesting flavors & aromatically pleasing (I had the dorado). The service (which I don't particularly care about) was noticeably efficient & added fun to the dining experience. The quality of food, service & atmosphere is definitely worth the cost.5/18/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat spot!We thoroughly enjoyed our evening at The Dutch. Everything was amazing: friendly bar staff, terrific waiter, delicious food. Will return.5/18/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat atmosphere. You gottaGreat atmosphere. You gotta have the pasta with lamb...5/17/2013 12:00:00 AMLoved The Dutch!Embarrassed to admit this was my first time. What's not to love about great oysters and pie? Great food. Impressive bourbon list. Solid craft beer options. Great ambience, with large, opened windows. Awesome experience all around.5/16/2013 12:00:00 AMYum!We made a special trip down to The Dutch and it was YUM! Fun atmosphere. Nice atmosphere and size. Helpful servers.5/16/2013 12:00:00 AMYummy!!!Great atmosphere, and super quick service---not too loud and no party scene. The food was AMAZING!! The cold lobster to start was the best I have ever tasted! And the French Fries...wow...I almost ate the tables plate next to us after scarfing our plate 30 seconds. Le oink. I had the Korean Hanger steak and it was perfect. My friend had the smoked ravioli's and they were fabulous. Wine was very yummy and nice hefty pours...no lame measuring! I am not a whisky fan, but I have never seen a huge selection! Overall, highly recommend and would suggest asking for a table in the main dining area that faces the street--in the evening if it is warm---all the large windows/doors are open giving it a wonderful atmosphere! Enjoy!5/16/2013 12:00:00 AMParents in townI recently had my parents visiting from Athens Greece,
They totally loved the place the food was excellent the the hostess more than professionally friendly. I have been there a couple times before with friends. I enjoy it every time more and more5/14/2013 12:00:00 AMAwesome !No comment, really nice !
Amazing food, amazing place, service is really good !
And thanks for my special request !5/14/2013 12:00:00 AMSurpriseWe've walked pass the dutch many days during our stay in Nyc. One day we decided to go there for dinner and we were really surprised by the atmosphere, the food and the service!!! Would definitively recommend it to friends!!5/13/2013 12:00:00 AMYou must try the oysters! The oysters are a definite must especially with a glass of Gruner Vetliner. I also greatly enjoyed the Korean Style Hanger Steak. The pie (another item the restaurant is know for) was good but nothing to write home about....I tried the shoefly pie. We took our moms there for Mother's Day and it was a great place for a Special Occasion.5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMSaturday BrunchSeated immediately at the time of reservation. Service was good and the food (I had the fried chicken) was great. Highly recommend both the food and the cocktails!
Staff were friendly and very helpful5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMThe BestJust one lunch, one dish, and I can't wait to go back. The best soft-shelled crab I've eaten anywhere. I don't usually like complicated preparations, but everything about this combination came together to compliment, not overwhelm, the principal ingredient, a perfectly tempura-ed crab.5/7/2013 12:00:00 AMLove The DutchBeen a while since I've been back, but on this recent visit was really blown away by the food. Super excellent service. Perfect to go at the end of the day for an early bite, the windows open and the sun shining in.5/6/2013 12:00:00 AMThe food is very good andThe food is very good and the hostess, waiter and bus staff efficient. On the other hand, confirming the reservation was unpleasant: rude; we were presented the check without being given a chance to order dessert/coffee or calling for it. Did they want our table which was booked for 1:00? Probably because the restaurant was packed to overflowing. We'll return but will probably wait until the "hot" dies down.5/6/2013 12:00:00 AMWe were very happy, treatedWe were very happy, treated like VIP, coktails were very good, as wel as the dinner, but I think you have to go there for brunch.5/6/2013 12:00:00 AMAlways a good expirienceGreat wines, perfect temperature the whites… Ambience lively on a late Sunday evening, that’s something. The food, ok, they are always consistently good but nothing memorable. Only service could have been more attentive but the sommeliers were very nice.5/5/2013 12:00:00 AMFried ChickenMy server said the fried chicken was ridiculous so I had to try it. It really was fantastic!5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMLoved it and would go back.-Oysters were very good and well presented w/fresh horseradish etc.
-Burger was good but not for the price. The special sauce was not our favorite - tasted a little cumin in it. So you might try it on the side.
-The Fried Chicken was TO DIE FOR. Nice spices and not greasy - great quality meat. Served with cold slaw which was really good - not creamy and had a few pickled carrots and jalapenos - yum. Two little bitty homemade biscuits brushed with honey butter on top.
-Great Bloody Mary - the pickle and olive needed to get a room though:).
-Presentation and serving dishes were nice.
**We will return to try some other items:)**5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMManhattan but manageableGreat restaurant in the Village. We're visitors and found the place worthy of its reputation yet completely accessible. Lovely spot, too. Nice menu with something for all. Leave room for dessert.5/3/2013 12:00:00 AMLunch on a TuesdayI had lunch here on a Tuesday. It was not busy when we sat down at 12:15 but busy by the time we left at 1:30PM. The good was very good. The tables were notably spacious for a downtown restaurant. Our entrees took a long time to come out, but I think that was just an anomaly. The service was very good.
This is a good choice for business lunch or lunch with a friend in Soho. I have not been in the evening.5/2/2013 12:00:00 AMSun pouring in on a spring eveningWe enjoyed our early dinner at the Dutch--great bread to begin (especially the chewy sunflower), followed by Red Chicken and s delightful spice-coated salmon fillet atop a cabbage-bacon braise and a side of very crispy potatoes. Lovely service, too.5/1/2013 12:00:00 AMdefinitely worth goingliked the menu very much, everything was delicious, service both friendly and good. only quibble, it was very loud in the dining room, everyone seemed to be yelling. but, would go again.4/30/2013 12:00:00 AMFantastic dinner with greatFantastic dinner with great service. The grilled octopus appetizer was phenomenal.4/29/2013 12:00:00 AMA great lunch - the duck soupA great lunch - the duck soup was terrific. I wish they had a better selection of wines by the glass - great wine list, but just can't drink a bottle at lunchtime!4/25/2013 12:00:00 AMthe food and atmosphere isthe food and atmosphere is great but felt rushed by the staff.....4/25/2013 12:00:00 AMHey have great U-shaped boothsHey have great U-shaped booths to share for a group. Don't miss it and my special thanks to the maitre de for his special service. As we were all women he sent over all the male waiters at least once to wait on us. It is a fun lively place but don't be fooled the food was great.4/20/2013 12:00:00 AMFantastic! We are from Portland, OR. This is the 2nd time we have eaten here this year and it was fantastic!
We had a wonderful dinner at The Dutch last night ! The Duck, gnocchi, and cod were outstanding and the wait staff was over the top accommodating.!
