  • "The food was good and the service was satisfactory. The restaurant was busy but still, the service was prompt enough to make the meal enjoyable. Each dish was a little different from what you would normally expect but the combination of flavors used in the dish was perfectly done. I had poached eggs and they came with a cheddar biscuit and ham and a stewed tomato. Very English! The cheddar biscuit mixed perfectly with the tomato and even though the English breakfast isn't my favorite, this was outstanding. Everyone else at the table enjoyed their meal as well."

  • "Our experience at The Dutch was marred by their no substitution policy. When asked "what is your substitution policy?" our waiter refused to use the word "substitution" instead saying, "We can subtract but we cannot add." So they will agree to avoid providing what you have paid for if you are not able to eat it, but do not offer anything in return. There are many nice restaurants in NYC which are more than willing to accommodate people with dietary restrictions, there's no need to pay so much to eat here. That said, the chicken mole was delicious. The roast pork with polenta was tasty, but the portion size was completely inadequate. Four thin slices of pork for $32 is not reasonable, especially when the pork was very fatty like this was."

  • "For my party of 7 the waiter could not be more pleasing and the manager as well.They both checked on us regularly. The drinks were great, the clams & oysters were terrific and the food was the best. My dish of pasta with braised lamb was unbelievably delicious. My family had hangar steak, ribeye for two & tilefish....everything was a better dish than the next. We were celebrating a Birthday & even the dessert was great. The noise level was a little high but very energetic. The tab was also a little high, but you get what you pay for (and a little less in NY). I don't usually leave comments for NYC restaurants because many of them are good, but this one is definitely a Standout and one not too be missed! Can't wait to try other dishes there."

  • "Well, gone, so it seems are the duck fat fries. The steak was expensive but at least it was mediocre - done perfectly but not very flavorful for a $125 ribeye. It did serve 3 people amply. I think this restaurant is better for lunch but I am disappointed that the fries aren't exceptional any more."

  • "Physically, the restaurant is a gem -- nicely lit, comfortable, funky, and a fine place for conversation. The food? Inconsistent. The lobster rolls and grilled trout were unusual and outstanding, the cold, soggy fries, lukewarm malfatti and uninspiring baby lettuce with sunflower -- not so much. Great, versatile, eclectic wine list - first time I've seen a Carlisle white on any list. The main problem was the confused, slow and not especially friendly service. It took 20+ minutes for our wine to materialize, and our amateur server seemed surprised and confused by simple questions and requests, which were invariably followed by the words "excuse me?" I'd go back for the vibe, but the service and food weren't quite up to par at this price."

  • "My girlfriend and I dined here on Monday March 31st for her birthday. We ordered the truffled beef carpaccio and the butternut squash soup to start as well as the fried chicken and house smoked turkey sandwich. The carpaccio had no sign of truffle or even mushrooms anywhere and the soup needed salt. The biscuits that came with the fried chicken were stale and the coleslaw was way to spicy, the sandwich was good though. After out meal we did not order desert but we were brought out a piece of cherry pie for my girlfriends birthday, which was a very nice gesture until I received the bill, where I saw they charged me for it. Overall not a good experience."

  • "Perfect fried chicken and honey butter biscuits. It was yummy, I don't if I could order anything else Off the menu when I return! Carpaccio was perfectly Balanced and the amberjack crudo with radish was Crispy and light and had great flavor. Found out that when in NYC no alcohol at Sunday brunch until after 12 pm...bummer!"

  • "This was a lovely niche in Manhattan, bustling and kind of noisy but overall great. Pleasant decor, very skillful wait staff, delicious, thoughtfully prepared food and ---incredible---reasonable prices and generous yet not overfeeder portions! The four of us had appetizers, entrees, dessert, and wine, and we got away for $350. Well worth it."

Her meal was not bad. We would probably go back if it wasn't NY and filled with tons of other restaurants."

  • "I had come here for brunch and absolutely loved the comfort food, large portions. Dinner, however, left us quite hungry. We ordered the brocolli cheese puffs and there were only two little bites on the plate (I had a group of 5 people with me). We all ordered different entrees and the only person satisfied was my friend who ordered the lamb pasta - which was delicious. My trout was small, the risotto was small, the spinach pasta... small. The waiter was great, but the hostess was quite curt and not the most friendly person. She could have been a little kinder."

The sommelier was also very great. Great New York vibe. Funky room. Would totally recommend this place. I hope they find people who can smile. It really sets the tone."

  • "We were visiting from the west coast and found this restaurant on open table. The variety of food was excellent for our party - we each ordered different items and had an opportunity to taste everything. Our party ordered two different pasta dishes, the chicken and the duck. All were fantastic. The wine list was great - we enjoyed a bottle of Granato - a wine we have never had before - it was also very good. The service was excellent - And the Sour Cherry Pie was a great finish to the meal!"

  • "We were sat next to a screaming, rude group of women that made impossible to have any kind of conversation. Tables are very close together and this spoiled the ambiance, no longer a vibrant bar but an annoying sorority. After two requests we were moved to a table in the other room, where we enjoyed good service and had a much better overall experience. The food was great, but I .missed the oyster sandwiches they used to have which alone were a reason to go there. Had the seafood ceviche, and the grilled red chicken, both excellent. This is still one of my favorites in Soho."

  • "We have been wanting to have a meal at The Dutch for a long time. My niece coming to town was the perfect occasion to try it for lunch. Dining room is typical cramped NY dining experience. Lunch menu was nothing special. Two of us ordered salads with grilled shrimp. The third in our party ordered two appetizers as a main. Nothing complicated. We waited and waited for our food. Finially to receive strikingly ordinary, unremarkable food. I would not rush back here. There are many nicer places to pay for overpriced salad."

  • "The Dutch was a great night out with a couple of friends. Two couples...one great meal for everyone. The Boudin Balls and Little Lobster Roll snacks were awesome. Had a platter of raw clams/oysters which were all great. Two of us had the Korean Hangar Steak which was very good, cooked perfectly, great flavor. The Duck L'Orange was also very tasty, tender and delicious. Trout dish also delicious. Little Donuts for Dessert were very very good also. Nice place, lively (not quiet, but fun atmosphere), all in all a great place to go. Cocktails were also awesome - great selection of wines, specialty beers and quality spirits."

  • "The food was fine but my main gripes were: 15 minutes taken to seat us despite arriving at time of booking and the restaurant being half full Hand soap in the bathroom was empty and when I advised the maître d she gave me an 'I couldn't care less' look Our entrees took 50 minutes to arrive and there was only a shrug not a meaningful apology of any kind, let alone a discount from the bill. The air conditioning near our table was freezing and despite repeatedly asking several staff to do something about it, it was never actioned. The restaurant was 3/4 full at most all night and the staff were mostly milling about chatting and doing nothing that seemed useful Overall the vibe was fairly flat. No energy."

  • "The food at Carmellini's downtown gem doesn't disappoint. Our beet salad was light but combined complex tastes and textures expertly, the trout and potatoes were exactly what I craved and the semifreddo reminded me of a childhood love for chocolate and peanut butter. Our only culinary letdown was my girlfriend's lemon pie and grapefruit sorbet, which were both tangy enough to make molars tingle. The service left much to be desired. Our waitress rarely noticed us, took a third of my girlfriend's meal without asking if we wanted it boxed, and served me the wrong dessert. Bussers were aggressive, slamming our cutlery and taking our plates by force. We expected chaos on the last day of Restaurant Week, but a smile would be nice."
