Diner Reviews
  • "Service was ok, at best. After waiting some time we were able to get water and a cold press drink. We had to ask for bread when it was given out to other tables with water. The waitress seemed inexperienced and rarely came back to check. Food was good, as you would expect, and ambience was typical south beach"

  • "We were their once before & really enjoyed the food, especially the Tuna Tartar & Roasted beet salad. We were disappointed that they didn't have them available and it was only a. "Special" offered on weekends, that was the main reason we went back. Otherwise everything else was ok."

  • "We had the 4- course tasting menu, with all the small small appetizer plates turned our meal into 8 courses. Each was outstanding in creative presentation & flavors. Small things like honeyed butter added to the experience. The micro greens on each dish are local to South Florida & more interesting than decoration. Beef tartar, perfect sea scallops, pillowy pasta filled w truffles in a fresh peas & fava bean sauce - each dish became our favorite until the next. Dessert was perfect chocolate soufflé, key lime pie & the beignets filled with dulce de leche cream. Our server knew his food & was attentive but never overbearing. We ate outside very early & in a quiet tropical garden atmosphere. The Dutch gets vibrant and busy at a later hour."

  • "Excellent in every way. The service was perfect with a smile and we had the visit of the manager to see if every thing was to our expectations. The food was creative and simple at the same time. We took the cold asparagus soop, the clam. The papardelle (lamb ragu) and the pumkin ravioli were just delicious. The steak tartare and fries were perfect. The dessert were at the same level , banana cream pie and the icecream were not to big, not to sweet to finish with. A Perfect night."

  • "We went for dinner with 5 people on a Sunday night. We had a great dinner. Our meal was fantastic. The grouper was some of the best I've ever tasted, as well as the red snapper being outstanding. The only complaint was the service. We were less than pleased with the service. I am thinking it is because a 20% service charge is already included in the bill regardless, so there really is no incentive for the services to be too friendly. We would go back only because the food was so good, but we did wait quite a while for our server on multiple occasions through the night. We asked a few questions/recommendations and did not get much in reply from the waiter."

  • "Everything I've had here has been great. I can't wait to come back and try more of the menu. I normally pass up the raw menus but not here, the scallops are incredible!"

  • "This restaurant includes and automatic 20% service charge. It really makes a difference. We found that several waitstaff stopped by with food, refilled our glasses, and helped out (we suspect because they weren't leaving it to the one waiter who would typically receive the tip). It was fantastic. The food was very filling and incredibly delicious. A must stop in Miami (get the lime salt pie!)."

  • "My husband , daughter and I had a wonderful dinner at the Dutch the night after Valentine's Day. The service was amazing. The food was outstanding. I scarfed down my butter lettuce salad and Also the delicious pumpkin ravioli. My daughter and husband, both carnivores to the nth , had the steak tartare And bone in NY strip. For dessert we had the fabulous key lime pie. We also enjoyed wine and cocktails! It was all divine! Will definitely be back the next time we are visiting South Beach."

  • "This NYC offshoot has an apparent fan base, as it's a lively place filled with young folk enjoying the bar and the fine bar food that is simple yet rich, such as mini-lobster rolls, tasty beet salads, beef tartare, and the like. Desserts are classics like banana cream pie. Nestled in the trendy W hotel on South Beach, the Dutch is one of several restaurants vying for attention within the W's walls. People seemed to be crowding into all of them!"

  • "Brought my mom for a birthday lunch. The staff was so sweet and, without my knowledge, they brought her a birthday dessert! We sat outside and had the best afternoon. Great food too!"

  • "We had the oyster and lobster sandwiches. They were both amazing and I am not a huge oyster fan. The sheep's milk ricotta was good not as good as Locanda Verde in NYC where it is so amazing! The scallops were great too. The star of the show were the beignets! Out of this world!!!! Great service too!!!"

  • "For the amount of money one puts down to eat at a restaurant such as The Dutch, I was expecting at the very least good service. What I got was a rude condescending waiter who took over 15 minutes to take our drink order, waiting another 30 minutes to place our food order. The food came out staggered so that my friends finished their meals before we were served our entrees. It wasn't until one of my friends became so irate and we spoke to the manager that things improved. I ordered a Korean inspired chicken sandwich that was just awful. Two bites was more than enough: Overcooked, underseasoned, and slopped together on a plate, paid 20 bucks for the worst tasting sandwich I have ever had. I will never step foot in that establishment again."

  • "Took a chance on this restaurant for a romantic dinner with my girlfriend while staying in Miami. The W Hotel is a great venue with a sexy ambiance that seems to set the mood for diners looking for a chic night out. Our waiter's name was Johnny and he was amazing. The drinks and food exceeded our expectations and I would recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for a fantastic dinner in South Beach."

  • "We purchased a gift certificate at a charity auction a few months ago for The Dutch without knowing what it was about. My wife and I decided at the last minute to use it last weekend. We could not have been happier with the experience! The service was impeccable but not overbearing. The food was incredible! We really enjoy quality, innovative food experiences and The Dutch certainly fulfilled that. The Dutch is inside the "W" Hotel on Collins and 22nd St. near South Beach but there is plenty of parking across the street in a public lot. We will definitely return for another dinner there soon!"

  • "Great upbeat place without the south Beach pretense. My steamed snapper was amazing and my husband really enjoyed his black grouper. The lobster sandwich (appetizer) was good although I've had better; I liked the ceviche more. Definitely would go back."

  • "My wife and I have been great fans of The Dutch Miami ever since it opened in late 2011. Up until this trip, we considered it our favorite restaurant in the country. Whenever we would be in Miami Beach, we would eat there two to three times - at least once each for dinner and lunch. This trip, the experience was unimpressive. The flavors were less sharp. The lamb pasta dish - which we'd had before - was, this time, too salty. Overall, the prices were up and the quality down since our last visit. We didn't go back for a second meal this trip."

  • "We dine out a lot, and don't mind spending some money. But enough buddy. In addition to the brilliant Steak Tartar, the server was putting the hard sell on The Collins. I mean pushing it like there was the mother of all sales contests at stake. Deflatedly, the server took the order for The Biscayne Seafood platter starter. $130 for the former, $80 for the later. The service went all downhill from there. Food was great, but the 5 ozs of seafood juice drizzled on my girlfriend and her purse was a drag. Maybe we SHOULD have ordered The Collins. After a round of drinks at the bar, and two bottles of wine at the table, the serves suggested we have some Louis XIII cognac. I get it...rent is due on the 31st....but c'mon....enough buddy!"

  • "Very Impressed with service (breath of fresh air, service is alway horrible in Miami), the parpadelle was delicious, as was the steak! Love the Dutch In NYC and so happy to have them in Miami! Hope service stays excellent!"

  • "I love The Dutch generally, but the food itself fell short of its own exemplary standard on Christmas Day."
    Dined on 12/25/2013
  • "Excellent main dishes made up for an awkward beginning of bad cocktails and poorly execute starters. The environment is strangely laid out for small groups, especially the banquets. The server suggested the snacks menu were very small - we ordered the Korean Chicken and it was huge, and basically just fried wings bathed in sriracha sauce. The butter lettuce was terrible - drowning in something like ranch dressing. But the mains were very good. Overall, there are too many great choices nearby to go back to the Dutch."

  • "My friends and I are at the Dutch on Saturday night and had an overall good experience. I had a fried clam slider and the flounder over basil polenta and both were delicious. While our server was very nice, he first did not bring our wine until we had finished our appetizers, then each time the food came to the table whoever brought it was not sure who ordered what, then they mixed up one diner's order which left them waiting a half hour into the main course for her food, and lastly never brought the coffees we ordered and charged us for them anyway. With all that being said, I still had a fine experience because of the delicious meal. In the future, though, I hope the Dutch Miami raises to the service standards of the Dutch New York."

  • "In South Beach for Thanksgiving & decided to give The Dutch a try based on a review of their Turducken special. Everything was good, but for the price, it just didn't match up. It's not that you won't enjoy your meal if you go and the outside dining is lovely, it's simply that there are so many other outstanding choices in the area, that we would not dine here again. Also, beware that if you call they say that they validate for parking. But only for a portion. Parking is STILL $15 plus tips which is crazy if you're dropping $200+ for a meal. Thankfully we found a spot in the public lot right next to the hotel for less than $4. Just remember that by eating here, you're paying for the privilege to eat at the W hotel...not for what you get."

  • "My date and I had gone to the Dutch for Thanksgiving. The meal was delicious. I was pleasantly surprised to see a selection of their regular menu in addition to their Thanksgiving special. The scallops were amazing! It was also really nice to see the grounds of the W Hotel. The only draw back of the evening was our server. He was very pushy, wanting us to add items to our tab. It made both of us uncomfortable. Beware of the service and let the food speak for the restaurant."

  • "Went for a thanksgiving meal at the Dutch and had the special thanksgiving dish, which consisted of dry and bland turducken and uninspiring accompaniments. Definitely wasn't value for money at $49 for a small, underwhelming meal. Put a downer on our thanksgiving celebrations."

  • "Each of our menu selections was great as anticipated. The service was a bit hovering...too many people doing too many things that weren't necessary, and the ambience is a bit institutional, being in the W. However, we would go back since the food is the star."

  • "My husband and I had dinner here last Friday night. It is located in the beautiful hotel W. We arrived and were seated right away to a cozy table. Our waiter and the somelier were both wonderful. Very knowledgable and nice. The food is divine! The ricotta ap is delicious with herbs and spices and bread to dip. I am a vegetarian and ordered the pumpkin ravioli. Wow! Sage, kale and pine nuts! I was in heaven. My husband had the tuna tartar and it was great as well as his steak which was cooked to perfection. Rare. The restaurant is very romantic and perfect for a date night. The host also came by the table to check up on us. We will come back."

  • "We had a lovely dinner on the terrace overlooking the beautiful garden behind the W. Our server, Jonathan, was excellent. The field greens salad with shaved vegetables was a large portion tossed with just the right amount of tangy vinaigrette. The FLORIDA MAHI, STEWED MOROCCAN TAGINE, ROCK SHRIMP, YOGURT was sublime. My husband had the STEAMED RED SNAPPER, COCONUT CURRY BROTH, MINT which he also loved. The Pecan Pie & Coconut Sorbet for dessert was superb. We will definitely return to this restaurant."
