A word from The Duck Club Restaurant at the Bodega Bay Lodge
The Duck Club Restaurant and Drake’s Fireside Lounge celebrate Sonoma’s bounty. Your dining experience will be driven by local seasonal availability of sustainably farmed produce, seafood and meats. Chef Jeff Reilly has established close relationships with local organic farmers, ranchers and artisan cheese makers creating a delicious and innovative menu. You will enjoy stunning views of Bodega Bay, the Pacific and beyond. Savor the seasonal offerings, serene views and an authentic culinary experience of our Sonoma Coastal Cuisine.

Our beverage program is headed by Sonoma County native Director of Food and Beverage and “Wine Guy” Bill Govan who has longstanding associations with many in the local food, wine and farming communities. We have a full bar and offer wonderful local non-alcoholic options as well. Our wine list features almost exclusively Sonoma County wines as we love to support our neighbors who help make Sonoma County the Tuscany or Provence of America.

Diner Reviews
  • "This is our "go to" Bodega Bay special occasion spot, and we and friends who join us have never been disappointed. Small, intimate dining room has wonderful views of Bodega Head and the bay, and a fireplace for foggy nights. Crab cakes a must, and the duck and halibut we had this last trip were fantastic. The service is efficient, and will make you feel very welcome. The wine list features carefully selected small local wineries that you might otherwise miss. Sommelier Bill knows his personally chosen selections well, and is happy to make recommendations for wine pairings, and fill you in on the winemakers and wineries."

  • "I know its a Sonoma coast restaurant but it would have been nice to include some wines from other other areas such as Napa Valley. Staff was friendly and warm. Beet salad and crab cakes were excellent. My salmon was fair. My husbands halibut was very good. Excellent creme brulee and from a previous night, Jeff's moms chocolate cake is amazing."

  • "This restaurant has spectacular views and comfortable atmosphere. The wine list is excellent and diverse, and we had two wines by the glass that were very good. Bread was warm and good quality. Appetizer was a duck confit salad that was well balanced and the confit was tasty and well done, and well matched with the salad and dressing. We ordered two entrees: Chicken two ways. and lamb ragu. The lamb was not as tender as one might expect, and the flavor was overwhelmed by salt to the degree that the lamb taste was a background. The chicken confit was better than the breast, which was herbed and when you got a good taste of the herbs was quite good, but in general, the herbs didn't get to most of the meat, which without the herbs was bland."

  • "Hubby had made reservations and told them it was our 30th anniversary and that I was in a wheelchair. As soon as we arrived they had our table ready for us with a beautiful view of the ocean. Our server came up and addressed us by Mr. and Mrs. all evening. Started off with oysters and clam chowder. Hubby had a wonderful piece of Prime Rib and I had the best Halibut I have had in a long time. Our waitress was so polite and attentive. We were staying at the Lodge so we took dessert to go. She came out with a tray with our desserts on actually plates along with forks, spoons and cloth napkins. It was such a delight not to have them in Styrofoam containers. The restaurant can get a little loud when full. Wonderful dining experience!"

  • "The night we were there the service was extremely slow. It appeared they needed more wait staff or the kitchen needed more help. We had breakfast there the next day and service was a bit too quick. I had had a plate of food left and they asked if they could takes plate. At least they asked."

  • "Had the nicest experience at the Duck Club. Service was attentive and friendly also helpful on choosing a wine and dinner. Will definitely be back. The Lodge is right in front of it."

  • "What a great view and superb service. But the salmon (2 of them) were both overdone and the two steaks had a lot of fat and gristle for the high price and one was overdone and not medium rare Nice plating and great sides."

  • "The Service was excellent! And they were able and willing to accomodate my gluten and dairy ingtollerance. We had the sole and the chicken and both plates were very flavorful. We enjoyed the beautiful view of the bay while we dined. We will definitely be returning!"

  • "The food and view are just fabulous. They use local ingredients and the prided they take in presentation are evident. For service, slow, very slow from waiting for drinks, bringing food to the table and waiting for the check. Don't plan on getting out of there in a reasonable amount of time."

  • "As part of Sonoma County restuarant week we wen't back to this favorite of ours and as alwaus it did not dissappoint, the fixed price menu, the view, the superior service and timely pacing of the meal were all excellent - and great return visit with superior flavors and presentation. A woman at the next table came in part way though our meal and was bathed in perfume! Spoiled some tastings and somehow the restaurant should have diplomatically tried moved her to bar - a very hard situation to deal with!"

  • "The only thing I would downgrade them for is that our reservation was at 8:00 and we arrived a couple of minutes early and checked in with the hostess, who then disappeared from the front table and never came back. 10 minutes later I asked a passing waitress who said they were clearing our table and it would be ready in just a bit. Everything from that point on was five star quality (including the price of the wine by the bottle, which we passed on) and had it by the glass. Our waitress, Kimberly, was very attentive and helpful with selecting the wines, the food got out to us reasonably quickly, and the food was excellent. My duck was crispy and cooked to medium rare perfection. It was good ten years ago when we went and it still is."

  • "Took my girlfriend to the duck club (total shot in the dark)for birthday and we had an excellent experience. Awesome cheese plate and beet salad to start, I had the chicken two ways and she had the pork saltimbocca, and we had the chocolate cake for dessert- everything was pretty much flawless. Food was exceptional as was service and ambiance. Bill was really reasonable for you get also- we'll definitely be returning. If your in the area, wanting fine dining, with choices other than the standard seafood fare of the area, this is the spot."

  • "Menu is taylored around locally available products. We had an excellent lamb ragu, with a toasted bread and cheese starter plate. Completed the evening with a tangerine sorbet....oh yeah! With reservations we were seated at a table facing the peninsula with the bay to the right and the ocean to the left."

  • "We have dined here before and it was great. This year the service was marginal and the rib steak for one of the group was mostly fat. Another order wAs to be well done & was very rare . Deserts were good."

  • "The beet salad, crab cakes, clam chowder, salmon, gnocchi and seafood stew were all outstanding."

  • "Service was fantastic. The seafood is very fresh. Loved the beets salad. Fog chowder aka clam chowder... good size and yummy. Wonderful foccacia bread. My only recommendation- Would have liked a wet toilette after cracking the fresh dungeness crab for my sticky fingers! Great window view (if you can get a window) however, better in the spring and summer as you can enjoy the view longer. Other option is sit by the fireplace... very cozy."

  • "This place was amazing, the most notable thing was the service it was marvelous and out waiter Bert was just amazing. I had a great time on valentines day there and would most definately recommend this place."

  • "Dissapointed. They had a banquet for Google and the dining room and banquet room was all reserved. Dinner was served in the Lounge. They were short staffed and the room lacked imagination. Soup special was not so special and Jeff's Mom's Cake was dry an lacked anything special... Kind a bummer as this was a Birthday dinner that the staff sid not acknowledge and we were staying in the lodge. Breakfast was better as the views n the longe made up for the plain room. Eggs bennidict was passable, the bacon and eggs over easy with sourdough bread was perfect."

  • "We went here for our engagement dinner/fiancee's bday. We were one of four couples all of which were celebrating an anniversary. From no years (us!) to 31 years and everyone was so friendly. There was ONE waitress running the whole room and she was wonderful and never acted rushed or stressed. Food was delish and they worked around my food allergy perfectly! Would recommend!"

  • "Breakfasts are great here. Stunning views, nice subdued ambience. The dinner experience was not good, other than our very good server Emily, professional and on top of it. Despite the chef claiming the oysters were "fresh" and just in, they were not, they were dry and probably had not been stored properly. The butter lettuce salad was great except for the inert dressing, must have used water rather than vinegar. The steak was a disaster, and a thin flank steak, rather than the ribeye on the menu. It was swerved at room temperature on a cold plate. Half the steak was gristle and fat, about half was edible. The "glacé" sauce ruined the flavor. The chard was undercooked and fairly tasteless. No more dinners here for us."

  • "Finally! A quiet and very special restaurant in a beautiful getaway from it all setting, where intimate dining can happen! It's for "grown ups". Sorry, but everyone is so concerned about "kid-friendly" these days, it leaves little fun for those of us trying to escape our own kids for a minute. If it was just the fact that the restaurant were quiet with perfect ambiance for nature lovers, that would be enough. But pair that with delicious menu offering local artisan cheeses and local everything including wine...wonderful. Best of all, the staff: Jonathan our server. Sara. Michael, who kindly offered directions to local cheese lovers points of interest. Kelsey hipped us to local places where joy can be purchased for a few dollars. : )"

  • "Restaurant's quality is consistent with the accomodations. First class all the way. Highly recommend both the lodge and the restaurant. Breakfast was great too. The view in the early morning over the marsh and ocean is priceless."

  • "I recommend this is a destination dinner place when in the neighborhood of Bodega Bay. The menu met and exceeded my expectations in all ways with variety, tastes, balance, and satiety. I appreciated the special attention made to my needs from guidance by the server to the care in the kitchen. The server did not need to announce, however, each plate accordingly. As for ambience, I would request that the restaurant be fragrance free so we can enjoy the food more. Not only did the hostess but also the ancillary staff (water, bread) have high degrees of laundry fragrance, but the guests of a nearby table had such high amounts of perfume, it was even bothering my partner (who normally does not notice)."

  • "My husband and I have lived in Bodega Bay for 25 years. We have 2 businesses and usually work 7 days a week. This is where we go when we want great food. Small plates, or a dinner with a good glass of wine, the Fireside room offers less formal seating without compromise of menu or service. Year round, 7 days a week it is open. A last minute Tuesday in January worked."

  • "Server accommodating and courteous, menu was just average, but the biggest negative was no permanent bar and the bar service was terrible (wait in line while bartender did food serving also)."

  • "Various dining rooms have different ambience. Of the 3, the only one that merits the pricing is the main room; but New Years eve is a difficult time to make right."
    Dined on 12/31/2013
  • "We tried this restaurant for our New Years Eve dinner and it was a wonderful evening. The menu was created for this event so I cannot comment on their regular menu. This evenings food was very good and service was wonderful. Taste of what we ordered was very pleasant and temperature was great. The courses were served slowly to give you time to relax and enjoy good company and wine."

  • "We stayed at the Bodega Bay Lodge for Christmas and had dinner here. It was delicious. Service was nice. Beautiful views. We had breakfast here a couple times too, the morning views were phenomenal. Coffee was mediocre. I'd definitely recommend."

  • "Dined here near Christmas, and was very disappointed. The menu had some crowd-pleasers: the crab cakes were excellent. However, everything else seemed to pale in comparison to most of the other meals we enjoyed in Sonoma County. Portions were too large, meats were generally cooked well, but vegetables and sides were inconsistent: either undercooked or overcooked. Desserts were overly sweet. Service was mediocre: staff was not as professional as some comparable restaurants, and disappeared for seemingly long stretches of time. I would not recommend."

  • "This is one of the nicest dining rooms in the County. There's a beautiful view of the wetlands and the Ocean if you are seated near a window. One of the things we value most in a restaurant is a quiet room, and The Duck Club has that. Discreet, efficient service too. Worth the drive for a special occasion. I just wish they were open for lunch."

  • "Ingredient driven country cooking! Ample portions of excellent food enjoyed in a settled comfortable ding room. Informed and skilled servers who kept in touch without being irritatingly present. Price is appropriate for the quality. We will be back."

  • "Disappointed with the menu selection(beef ranch and notable vineyards nearby and not highlighted); duck gumbo did not sound aappetizing. Service was acceptable. View was amazing. Go for the view."
    Dined on 12/21/2013
  • "Great meal with appropriate pacing and flawless execution. The halibut on a bed of spinch was outstanding. The only tiny flaw was that the spinach was hidden by the fish and sauce so a tiny sprig of parsley on top would have added to the correct color balance."

  • "We had reservations for 730 and weren't seated until 830, the reason for only 3 stars for service. After that the service was excellent as was the food."
