The Dining Room - Biltmore EstateExcellentThe setting couldn't be more beautiful with a view of the mountains and the oversized fireplace. We did the chef's tasting menu, and everything was wonderful. We got to try a few things we'd never had before, such as sweetbreads, and a monkfish dish. Service was very efficient. The menu was a little tough for me because I am not the adventurist eater. We shared the Vidalia Onion Tart which was very tasty and I had the cauliflower and crab bisque which was delicious. But we shared a filet again as nothing else worked for us. After spending $135.+ for dinner, having to pay $8 for a valet was insulting. Maybe the restaurant could validate your parking ticket so you don't have to pay that? The service was great and very accommodating but the next night we reviewed the menu a little closer.4/12/2013 12:00:00 AMWe were celebrating our anniversaryWe were celebrating our anniversary on Sunday night. We had an early reservation, and it was quiet when we arrived. We were seated very quickly at a table by the window (which we requested). It was a beautiful evening. Our server was excellent and the food and champagne were terrific (we chose Biltmore Sec champagne ). We both had fish entries. Our server recommended the halibut which was very simply prepared and quite GPS. My husband had the trout which was also excellent. We had chocolate ice cream for dessert and they wrote Happy Anniversary on the plate which was very sweet (and the ice cream was super!)

It has a gorgeous view of the mountains and was decorated nicely; "fancy" as my daughter put it. Enough so that I was a little nervous it would not be suitable for the children. They had a children's menu, however, with the usual kid fare, but my kids ordered off the adult menu. We had appetizers, entrees, some cocktails, dessert and coffee. Our waiter, Hank, was outstanding, and really made the evening for us. He made great suggestions and was attentive. He even took us outside between courses to take a family picture as the sun was setting. The Filet was average and not at all up to expectations. It was rather tender but not flavorful or juicy at all. The lobster was prepared properly but was non-memorable. With two cocktails, a shared salad (which was too small to share), two main courses, two coffees and one very delicious chocolate cheesecake dessert we spent $250.00 with tip. We should have enjoyed every morsel.
