Getting there

  • Parking: Public Lot
  • Parking Details: The college is located on the northeast corner of Chaparral Road and the 101 freeway. Parking is found by taking the 4th entrance into the college, taking an immediate right onto the loop road into parking lot H. Our building is Applied Science, located on the west side of that lot and entrance to the dining rooms is from the north.
A word from The Desert Oasis / The Artichoke Grill
The Culinary Arts Department at Scottsdale Community College proudly operates two restaurants in which our student chefs create and serve the best in culinary fare.

The Artichoke Grill is open for lunch Tuesday through Friday, serving fabulous a la carte meals that include soups, salads, sandwiches, grill items and desserts.

The Desert Oasis dining room provides our guests outstanding five course dinners, Wednesday through Friday. Menus change weekly and can be viewed on our web site, www.scottsdalecc.edu/culinaryContinued

  • "After being recommended to this hidden gem. We try visit whenever we visit our vacation property in Scottsdale from Canada . This time around we tried the lunch menu with our daughter and her fiancé , the food is just as good as the evening meal and would rival many top restaurants in the area ( except price) expect to pay at least half what you would pay for similar food elsewhere. The students obviously spend a lot of time and effort with the preparation and a lot of pride in the final result. See you at the end of April."

  • "The beet salad was tasteless, the chef and the supervising instructor said they didn't bother to taste it. The veal marsala was over floured and under cooked which gave it a gummy feel and no marsala taste. The beignets for desert were cold when they are supposed to be hot and the sauces were flavorless. Service was very slow. Dinner to 3 and 1/4 hours, should have been 2 hours. No liquor license, they say because it is on the reservation but other businesses on the reservation serve liquor. Every tray that left the kitchen went through an artificial tree at the kitchen door and the leaves brushed through the food, not very sanitary and not a great way to teach chefs. Find a better place to go for dinner."

  • "We are regular customers here and dine here several times each year. The menus this year are not as interesting as they usually are but the food quality is usually good. But this visit it was extremely mediocre.the waiter wasn't good , the desserts and breads were not interesting, The beef Wellington was good but the rest of the meal was not. Of course the are student cooks and waiters. I hope this batch of students improve or change careers."

  • "I am a first semester culinary arts student at SCC. Five other students and I went to dinner here on a Thursday evening. It was a first time for all of us, so we weren't sure what to expect. The server, Haylee, had extensive knowledge about the menu and each dish presented. It was a very intimate meal and the whole group, myself included, was impressed. The only dish I did not care for was the citrus salad, but the clam chowder and salmon en croutte made up for it. This was a wonderful experience and I will definitely be going back."

  • "The occasion was a surprise birthday lunch for a young 13-year-old. Our waiter was very knowledgeable about the menu and the details of each selection. Service was refined and prompt. Everyone enjoyed their selected menu items enormously. The entire meal was both delightful and delectable. After lunch, we enjoyed a tour of the enormous and efficient kitchen area. If you have not yet had the opportunity to have lunch or dinner at the Scottsdale Community College's Culinary Arts dining rooms, I urge you to do so and I predict that you will return again and again. This is a setting where refined dining and culinary art truly meet."
