Diner Reviews
  • "A group of friends met here for a birthday dinner. The food was very good, and the specialty cocktails as well. Our waiter was a little slow on filling the water glasses, I had to ask twice. Other than that, we had a great experience."

  • "I went with a party of 5 for dinner on a Monday night. It was a warm, beautiful night and we sat outside with a fantastic view of the Carquinez bridge. The view here is unbelievable. We started off with Bruschetta, which was incredible. Every one of our main courses was delicious. I had fettucini with fresh tomatoes, olives and shrimp. It was to die for. 2 of my friends had crab, and from looking around at other tables, crab is definitely something I will go for next time. They feature Dungeness crab, which is the best in my opinion. Everything served was delicious. Even their iced tea was good, and served in a cute little glass bottle. I can't wait to go back, and have myself a crab feast!!"

  • "If you are stuck to go somewhere nice and love seafood, this is it. We enjoyed bringing our out of town guests here for their last nite. Fun and easy going, good food. Love the roasted mussels and fish n chips. The garlic noodles with fresh crab is memorable. Tried the calamari this time, very fresh and good flavors! Waitress and lots of staff served us well."

  • "It was my very first time eating at The Dead Fish and I was not disappointed. The food was delicious and came out very fast. We started with the Iron Skillet of Muscles, It was amazing! So hot and fresh it was a great pick. For the Entrees we decided to split the Seafood Pasta and a Whole Crab. The crab was huge! They kept true to their "All crabs are over 2 lbs" motto. The only problem was the waitress seemed a bit rude and would disappear from time to time. Besides that I will return soon to try"

  • "I love the this restaurant! This time i brought someone who had never been there because she did not think she liked fish. But she does, as it turns out, and the food was wonderful as usual."

  • "I have always been happy with coming to Dead Fish with friends and family over the last few years to enjoy a bottle of wine and seafood. This time I came for brunch and was extremely disappointed. The food was delicious but wasn't what I ordered (I didn't send it back which was my mistake but I didn't want to put a damper on time with my friend). Our server seemed bored and uninterested and was not very engaging to the 3 of us -- never asked if we wanted something else to drink even when our glasses were emptied. She definitely seemed to be having an off day (or an I don't care day). It definitely will make me rethink coming again for lunch, but I will definitely return for wine and oysters in the bar."

  • "The menu was lovely, rich with delicious choices. The fish was baked and delicious but the vegetables were overdone. It was $60 for lunch for two with water. Not a fan of watching the traffic on the bridge but the water was lovely."

  • "Our dining experience was very good and that was surprising. The last time we dined here was a disaster and we debated about ever coming back. The angel hair crab lasagne recovered it's old excellence. The fish and chips and fish sandwich were prepared perfectly. The pasta bolognese was quite good. Thanks for fixing up your act! The outside dining is amazing with a spectacular view of the Carquinez Strait and bridge. My only complaint is that there is not enough ship traffic through the Strait."

  • "I came for my birthday i was sitting there and the waiter never asked if anything was needed, or if everything was ok. Each time we called him to the table he act like it was a bother that was NO type of customer servuce that. I enjoyed...i will not come back, on top that i left him an 11.00 tip because i ordered 105$ crab feast and there were 4 people in my party."

  • "We had not been to the Dead Fish in quite some time and were bringing friends for the first time. I was sadly disappointed, first the service was subpar although the waitress was friendly. The food for the price was just so so. In previous visits I remembered the food to be a wow factor."

  • "Great food and beautiful view. My only complaint was that we had a reservation on a Saturday night and we had to wait in a very crowded bar for at least 20 minutes before our table was ready. Other than that, it was great!"

  • "Its a great location, food is fine, service is slow and at time lacking"

  • "Parking is tight but well worth the wait on a Sat nite. Excellent bar service & appetizers, I highly recommend the crab cakes. Beautiful views only add to the fabulous food & there are binoculars by the windows for the curious. We shared some grilled seafood and pasta with an excellent selection of wines. Ambiance is casual but service was impeccable. They made our birthday celebration special with a candelabra & desert. The warm home made sourdough rolls are enough to get me to return, but the overall cuisine is a definite draw too. If you like seafood, especially crab, this is an excellent choice."

  • "Our "Bag Ladies" dine out monthly all over the east bay. The Dead Fish is one of the best we have chosen. The menu is varied, though we all chose crab in some form. Lots to choose from. Service was excellent but not invasive. They overheard us talk of a birthday and a candelabra appeared with a desert to share. We will be back fo try the brunch."

  • "Service left a bit to be desired as we felt our waiter was off to a slow start. He picked things up in the end though. Bread was fantastic, the crab cakes were delicious despite the small portions and calamari was cooked to perfection. Me & my fiancèe split the crab alfredo; outstanding. Bill was $68 with wine. Absolutely great restaurant, can't wait to come back."

  • "I must give it to them being that is was Father's Day and extremely busy parking crazy hard to find a spot we we're seated right away. Being that it was my sister first time there I was hoping for a spot over looking the water and bridge. We got the side of the restrantant nothing to brag about. You kinda feel like they forget about you. Over all dinner was good a little over priced but good."

  • "The food was freshly cooked, right seasoning and warmly served. There was even a birthday cake for my son and sister. They could have a cleaner candelabra. The bread could have been served in a platter instead of paper lining. It looks tucky.... It's recommendable for friends/family."

  • "I attended with a group of 8. We all enjoyed every bit of it. I will definitely be going back soon!"

  • "Make reservations in advance and arrive early to allow for parking. Service on the back balcony overlooking the bay was OK. Our waitress may have been a little off that evening. She checked in with us but forgot to bring out our order of clam chowder. She admitted that it was dropped and she forgot to reorder (Strike 1). It should have been comped, but instead she just removed it from the bill. Wait staff was good, quick and responsive. We asked for more bread and it was "supposed" to be relayed to our waitress but it didn't make it to us. (Strike 2). The very positive is that the view on the back balcony is beautiful on a nice day. I recommend lunch or early dinner. Outdoor heaters are installed and we also see cabana style seating, nice!"

  • "We went for lunch on a beautiful day so sitting outside under cover was delightful. The service was quite good -- attentive but not hovering. The food was okay, a little greasy and not imaginative. We had a salad and calamari (the batter was heavy and some pieces were rubbery) and split the salmon. It was okay but nothing special. This is not a place for foodies. The house made bread was the best thing we ate. Still, the view was wonderful so if you're into that then it's a place to go."

  • "Deadfish is a family fav. We ordered the calamari and bruschetta appetizers, combo mussel, shrimp and crab followed by chocolate sundae. Everything was tasty and met our hungry expectations. We requested patio seating and the hostess gave us a great view for our out of town guests."

  • "Interesting menu, crab cooked in fire good but slightly greasy. Mussels on the smallish side, otherwise could be fun place to go and the bar looks teriffic! Excellent views and the staff very nice. Parking a challenge depending on when you arrive,we had reservations for 5:30 pm and lucky to get a spot. No valet."

  • "My family and I have been going to this location since it was "Vera's" many years ago......we've always loved the location and the food ! The "Dead Fish" continues this tradition! When headed to SFO we more often than not stop at "The Old Clam House" - - this place as well is tops in our book! KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK !!"

  • "Enjoyed a great evening here. I have not been here in several years. The food was excellent the service was great. My only issue was the wine glasses were extremely spotty... but not a detractor. Still enjoyed the night. Great old school place to go.... The scenery was excellent. I grew up on the other side of the straights, Benicia so it was noce to see that view..."
