We were seated right away although we wanted to sit near the back where the view is, and unfortunately there were no available tables without a long wait, even though we had a reservation. We sat in a nice room in a booth. There was a group with kids in the middle of the room. The noise level was pretty high although by the time we were done with our meal, the noise level had subsided. Some people like the noise. but as an older group the noise level was too high for us. We decided that we would definitely return and choose a time when it isn't so crowded and get a table near the window.. As always, I ordered the Bruschetta made with delicious Acme bread, toasted with garlic oil, and then topped with a mixture of tiny tomatoes marinated with Balsamic vinegar and basil. Soooo delicious! Also always my choice are the Mussels. Today they were perfectly cooked and perfectly seasoned. The food would have received 5 stars had it not been for the underwhelming beet salad. The seasonings were ordinary, and even the goat cheese did not enhance the dish. My boyfriend and I shared 5 courses: The steamed clams were DE-licious!! A must. The crab cakes were chock full of crab meat, but small. The Caesar salad was just OK. And the crab enchiladas were good. So I would go back and order the steamed clams and the crab cakes and find a couple of other items. Also, we had the lemon tart which was made off site and it was very good...not too sweet...not too tart...just right. Also, the drinks were pretty stiff.
Finally, the server was really nice and good at his job. Checked back on everything but was never obtrusive.
The only down side is that there are a lot of kids. But for the most part, well behaved so it wasn't a problem. The drive is always worth it and we always wonder why we don't come more often. Mojito didn't have enough sugar. Martini had too much ice. Gin & tonic was weak. Beer ofcourse was great. Once seated, we just loved the outside patio with view of the bridge and delta river. Service was very good - very attentive and prompt. Food was really great - fresh! We had halibut and another fish called Basa. All in all - great restaurant! Appetizers included the crab chowder and steamed clams and an extra of my passion, calamari, made it a very delightful celebration. Too full to order dessert, but the b-day tribute brought what seemed as a 2-layer mousse of vanilla and chocolate which made her eyes roll back into her head - a good sign.
