The DandelionWe'd been there several timesWe'd been there several times with friends and it is consistently good. Excellent service, good food, cordial staff5/20/2013 12:00:00 AMThe DandelionThe Dandelion is definitely at the top of my list. We came around 9pm. Downstairs was pretty full and the noise level was high but everyone seemed to be enjoying themselves. My two friends and I sat upstairs. It was much quieter there, better for conversation. Our waiter came to talk to us immediately and filled our waters.
Soon after ordering the food came out. It was fresh and absolutely delicious! The flavors were well balanced and the portion size was perfect. I left feeling full and satisfied with some leftovers for the next day. The Dandelion also has a wonderful selection of beers and mixed drinks.
I would recommend this restaurant to anyone. I'll definitely be coming back here next time i'm visiting Philadelphia.5/18/2013 12:00:00 AMLots of fun. Felt like weLots of fun. Felt like we were in Diagon Alley. Would have ordered butter beer if on the list.5/18/2013 12:00:00 AMFun & Interesting British fareThis is our second time to The Dandelion, and it is a consistently satisfying experience. The menu is diverse enough for our family, include children aged 9 and 12. The selection of appetizers and small plates was a great way to experience some of the menu's unique flavors. The server was very knowledgeable and helpful when guiding our decisions.
Bangers & mash, Scottish salmon, scallops, and steak and chips -- everything was delicious and comforting. Even the kids enjoyed everything on the table.
The Dandelion also has a fantastic beverage selection for both adults and kids, and the classic Pimm's Deluxe was terrific, as well as the fun speciality sodas.
Mature and casual/upscale pub atmosphere with unique rooms makes it fun to return.5/18/2013 12:00:00 AMAuthentic English Pub! GreatAuthentic English Pub! Great food & Jonathon was an excellent waiter, who understood drink and food pairings.5/17/2013 12:00:00 AMLike London, but with a Philly vibeDandelion continues to offer a great experience, for brunch, lunch, or dinner. The bar scene is a lot of fun, but you can also have a cozy, romantic table for two. The service is true Stephen Starr high quality - friendly, knowledgeable, and professional. You can eat a little or a lot; either way, you'll be happy.5/16/2013 12:00:00 AMBread CredUnusual selections (e.g. Watercress soup, dandelion salad) came out great.
Accompaniments unusually good (e.g. Bread, coffee). Very accommodating for specialized drinks.
Definitely worth another visit.5/16/2013 12:00:00 AMFood and atmosphere were fantastic.Food and atmosphere were fantastic. Not a single complaint. Everything we had was excellent.5/16/2013 12:00:00 AMLoved everything about brunch! We come to Philly every now and then and we always make it a point to stop at the Dandelion. Delicious scones and french toast! My bf got the roast beef sandwich, which he enjoyed. We love the atmosphere and we are never rushed. We went for brunch and saw many large parties of 5-10, so it looks like a nice place for a get together too!5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMGreta dinner at The DandelionReally great dinner, loved the steak tartare loved the asparagus loved the mussels, rabbit pie my daughter had, and the Dark and Stormy was fantastic! Overall a delicous Mothers Day Dinner! The place is so neat looking too.5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat FindThis place is great. It has an Irish themed menu with a new spin on old classics. The Steak and chips was amazing, the side roasted asparagus is also highly recommended. The beer selection was very impressive as well. Highly recommended.5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMMother's DayWent here with our family. My niece lived in London, so she LOVED it. My husband and I visited there and thought your restaurant was better than anything we found in London. Will be back.5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat spot / night out with friendsHad a wonderful meal at Dandelion....6 of us went for a fun night out ....food was excellent, everyone loved their apps and meals...pate parfait was great....a LOT of pate served with fabulous toasted brioche (big enough to share), very tasty welsh rarebit, foie gras, ham hock terrine to die for. Excellent mussels, rich, delicious rabbit pie, best salmon entree ever. Service was very attentive. We had requested a table outside if weather would cooperate but when it didn't they seated us at a great table just inside the windows and it was a fabulous spot.
Will definitely return. It's a winner!5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMSimply the Best!Commitment to excellence in every aspect of dining is the obvious mission
of The Dandelion. Attention to detail adds to the experience exponentially.
Go for a fun, relaxed evening and be wowed by the food, service & ambiance.
Outstanding & memorable. Thank you owners & staff!5/9/2013 12:00:00 AMAnother Stephen Starr WINNEROnce again we brought Vistors to Philadelphia here for a great evening. We were greeted by the front desk as if we were family. Their concern was to make our evening PERFECT.. and so it was. We had an evening of appetizers . They were amazing.5/9/2013 12:00:00 AMMeat Butter... or what we have nicknamed the chicken and duck liver parfait, is the number one reason we keep coming back here! Its the best foie appetizer in the city. I've consistently had good service and can't wait to go back and sit by the fire before it gets too warm!5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMThe flavor of everything wasThe flavor of everything was superb. The lunch service was prompt, but we did not fell rushes at all. I would definately go back!5/3/2013 12:00:00 AMI scream inside for more! The outstanding chicken and duck parfait was a real showpiece portion almost looking like a beautiful smooth swarthy lobe of Foie Gras but a mousse whipped to perfection. The big thick slices of brioche made an impression, but not like a good artisanal baguette. The creative fresh house made red grape relish with red wine was graceful parfait-action. The highly touted Fish & Chips entree at $19.95 was a creative presentation on a warped rocking cutting board. The wild caught cod itself was excellent if scant and not at all what any good Brit would expect at this price..The service for sure was all I could have expected even if at times awkward and over vigilant. All in all a Starr production suffering the rift of many ocean miles .5/2/2013 12:00:00 AMReally Liked DandelionFabulous oysters with beet root - a rare combination and excellent rabbit pie were just two of the terrific dishes my friend from down under and I feasted on. Nice wine list too. Great meal overall - I can't wait to go back!4/30/2013 12:00:00 AMThis was our second meal atThis was our second meal at Dandelion and both have been terrific. The wait staff is friendly and attentive, without being overbearing. Menu is terrific--a table of seven each had something different and all were pleased. The scones and raspberry jam are not to be missed. We were there at 1:30 on a Sunday afternoon, and even though the place was hopping the layout is such that it doesn't feel crowded and the noise level of the diners was tolerable. Our table of seven was able to converse normally. A great selection of beers, too. Highly recommended.4/28/2013 12:00:00 AMI loved the dandelion Tea.I loved the dandelion Tea. I had nothing to go on but a decent review that was a year old. I loved the British Cheese Board - so tasty, tastes were complimentary to one another - tart with sweet, strong with mild, the grape chutney was very good. The duck and chicken parfait was perfection! The Summer and Winter Beer Flips were delicious - difficult to describe - there were so many tastes. The date ice cream was worth the trip alone - subtle but great with the rum sauce. I didn't really care for the lemon curd - much more tart than the one I'm used to using - but if you like a strong lemon taste, you'll love this. The ambiance is great - we were in "Man's Best Friend" bar - a nice, comfortable room4/28/2013 12:00:00 AMthe dandelion is my new favoritethe dandelion is my new favorite restaurant. I have been highly impressed twice now, bot with the quality of the food as well as the service. an excellent experience every time. staff is welcoming, food is good, service prompt and attentive, and the price tag Is quite reasonable compared to other hotspots in the city. great, great restaurant4/27/2013 12:00:00 AMWe absolutely loved our firstWe absolutely loved our first visit to this restaurant; wouldn't hesitate to recommend it and look forward to going back again soon!4/27/2013 12:00:00 AMVery good food, excellentVery good food, excellent service and a nice setting.4/25/2013 12:00:00 AMThe food is good, but theThe food is good, but the noise level was loud and it was hard to have a conversation at our table without talking loudly.4/25/2013 12:00:00 AMMy colleague and I were quiteMy colleague and I were quite impressed with the dining experience at Dandelion. The food, the service and the ambiance were outstanding. I would highly recommend checking it out.4/24/2013 12:00:00 AMWhen making our reservationWhen making our reservation on Opentable.com we specifically requested NOT to be seated at a particular two-person table on the 2nd floor that has two very differently styled chairs of varying heights that gives a "power stance" to the the person sitting in the bigger chair. Just awkward. The request was fulfilled beautifully as we were seated in a different room of the restaurant than we'd be in before, beneath the lovely flower-box-lined window overlooking 18th Street. Service was exceptional, we were super comfortable at our great table, and as always, we love the free "fizzy" water. We look forward to returning soon for another wonderful lunch at Dandelion!4/23/2013 12:00:00 AMI had been to the DandelionI had been to the Dandelion once for drinks only, but recently went back for brunch with a group of 5. The food was wonderful and the atmosphere is intriguing. The tables aren't too crowded together and the large upstairs area gets good sunlight. The only thing that could have been better was the service. I wouldn't call it rude, but it definitely wasn't friendly. A friend told me this is in keeping with the British theme, but if so I could do without that level of authenticity. I felt like we were a nuisance to our server.4/21/2013 12:00:00 AMThe new way waiters act nowThe new way waiters act now can be very annoying. Tough ours was fast and efficient I really hated being interrupted and asked how this course was or that course was. . Too in my face and I need space.4/21/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat date night spot!we went to the Dandelion on a double date with friends of ours. The four of us shared the duck/chicken liver pate with brioche and the oysters special of the day as our appetizers. Upon recommendation from previous diners, 3 out of 4 of us had the fish and chips and 1 had the salmon. Everything was EXCELLENT. The pate was beyond indulgent and quite delicious. They brought extra brioche gratis, which is always appreciated. The oysters were fresh and delicious, and the fish and chips was the best I've had, hands down, which includes fish and chips in the British Isles. Our server, Caitlin, was personable and fun. Highly recommended and the kitschy/club vibe was great!4/20/2013 12:00:00 AMThere was a group of 4 couplesThere was a group of 4 couples who dined at Dandelion's. We all had a wonderful time! The food was delicious and the atmosphore was really special. The one down side to our evening was that our dinner reservations were for 8:00 PM, but we didn't get seated until closer to 8:30 PM. I'm sure this was due to the larger group of people we had and the limited space in the restaurant for a group that size. However, the restauarant made up for it by providing us with several compilmentary appetizers for the table. All in all, it was a lovely evening and I would highly recommend Dandelion's!4/20/2013 12:00:00 AMI love this place! Great food,I love this place! Great food, spectacular service, wonderful ambiance. Can't wait to go back and try many more things on the menu. The warm olives are wonderful. The dandelion salad was awesome and the hot roast beef to die for. My husband had the shepherd's pie and loved it. Prices are very reasonable.4/19/2013 12:00:00 AMPricy menu with very specificPricy menu with very specific culinary style requires a very special diner to "get it". My daughter is an "ANGLOPHILE" whose study abroad experience in London changed her life. She loved her PIMMS CUP, STRONGBOW and traditional "SUNDAY DINNER" evoking great memories of her trip. The portions were so large that we couldn't finish nor did we have room for dessert which looked delicious. This restaurant is another STEPHEN STARR hit but unlike PARC (my ultimate favorite) would rate an occasional visit rather than one during every visit to Philadelphia.4/14/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat BrunchI have only eaten here for brunch but I really enjoyed it. The menu is a bit different and the bloody mary is really good (but spicy!). The decor is fun too.4/13/2013 12:00:00 AMVery enjoyable evening. GreatVery enjoyable evening. Great food and excellent service. Loved the ambiance of the beautiful old building.4/13/2013 12:00:00 AMThis was my second time eatingThis was my second time eating at The Dandelion. The food is amazing. The building and decor are charming. The service is impeccable. Highly recommended!4/13/2013 12:00:00 AMWonderful menu, fantasticWonderful menu, fantastic food, and attentive, pleasant service. Great beer list including casks beers, small but good cocktail menu. Wonderful atmosphere, if perhaps a little louder in the dining area than one might expect. Overall fantastic experience.4/12/2013 12:00:00 AMBeen by it but never knewBeen by it but never knew what was inside until I saw it on alist in Open Table one night. Went there and was very pleased. We will be back. Good selection of wines and beers (casked, etc, knowledgeable staff, very helpful and accommodating. Food was great!4/11/2013 12:00:00 AMThe food was superb and bringsThe food was superb and brings back a very traditional British pub feel. The portion size was good relative to the price and the drink menu was extensive. Our server was courteous and friendly with an extensive knowledge of the menu. The only complaint was the noise level was beyond energetic and approaching deafening. If you are looking for a quiet place to grab a drink with someone then this is not it. However if you are looking for a place with a group to have a good time over some drinks with excellent food you will not be disappointed.4/10/2013 12:00:00 AMAuthentic and upscale EnglishAuthentic and upscale English pub...we really enjoyed our lunch. I want to try it for dinner next time.4/9/2013 12:00:00 AMI enjoyed it very much, exceptI enjoyed it very much, except that the seating was strange. I was on a regular dining chair and my boyfriend was on a much lower cushioned armchair. Slightly awkward, but unique. Also, my seat was apparently right in front of the air conditioning and everytime it came on I had to put my coat on. When it turned off, I got extremely warm from having my coat on and had to take it off. Happened a handful of times throughout the night, which was annoying. I still enjoyed it, but wish their climate was regulated a better way.4/8/2013 12:00:00 AMOur server Alex was fantastic. Our server Alex was fantastic. We had a large group of girls, half of which work in restaurants so not very easy. He was so helpful and accommodating, also giving great suggestions that we really enjoyed. Food was delicious. Burgers were a hit at the table and so were the egg dishes and ridiculous French toast. Also, our entire table was obsessed with the scones. I'm honestly coming back next week for the scones. A++ for everything! Oh also the hosts were great- our group grew in size by one and the hosts hardly flinched and said they could easily accommodate us. Also they took a picture for us, I'm sorry about that but Grandma was so happy to see it. Thanks for everything!!! Also please can the beef tartare be on the brunch menu?4/7/2013 12:00:00 AMA lovely experience. My onlyA lovely experience. My only complaint - which is common with a lot of restaurants these days - is that they clear the table as others are still eating.4/7/2013 12:00:00 AMvery good food and service.very good food and service. decor is a little over the top, but good for taking the parents or if you really like fancy british pubs.4/6/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat, once we were seatedReally, there is not much at all that was wrong with our meal. The food was outstanding and the service was top-shelf. The only issue we had was that, for a party of 4 at 8:30 on a Saturday, they did not have a table for us at 8:30. Still no table at 9:00. A little after 9:00, we were told we could sit in the bar, which was fine, except that the door that is not supposed to be used kept opening, making things chilly.
Aside from that, we had the rarebit and liver parfait for apps, and a couple of scrumptious dessrts. Everyone ordered the fish and chips which, despite my lofty expectations, could not have been better. Our witress did a fantastic job, being there when we needed, but not be intrusive.4/6/2013 12:00:00 AMI thought the food was good.I thought the food was good. The service and decor were outstanding. Very good drink menu.4/6/2013 12:00:00 AMthe food and the drinks werethe food and the drinks were great. but for me, the best part about Dandelion was the service. at first, the hostess sat us a a very little table. i was surprised that she sat us there because she knew it was our first visit, and the table was pretty bad. it felt like we were sitting on top of the people on either side of us, the table was so small. I noticed they were cleaning an open table and asked if we could more, our server moved us right over. This was key to us having a pleasant dinning experience. i picked this restaurant because i wanted a "brittish style" pub and it was perfect.4/6/2013 12:00:00 AMMy only complaint was cold beer!I cannot over praise the exceptional service, which accompanied every aspect of our visit. Our every need was catered to by a ubiquitous yet unobtrusive wait staff. Salad (green side salad) was fabulous. Fish and chips had first class fish, although I admit to having better chips. My only complaint is that my pint of bitters was cold. With this much attention to detail, I expected traditional warm British beer!4/5/2013 12:00:00 AMWe Loved This Place! What a fun place and a delicious meal! The salmon was cooked perfectly and the fish and chips were exactly right. Also, the Warm Bittersweet Chocolate Pot was excellent. The service was great and the staff was polite and attentive. We will go back for sure!4/5/2013 12:00:00 AMThe Dandelion is brilliant! The Dandelion is brilliant! If you're looking for great food and British charm, there's no better place in Philly.4/5/2013 12:00:00 AM
