The DandelionGood service, great foodI've been here multiple times now, and I've never had a bad meal. Lunch isn't usually a problem for a walk in but weekend nights you will probably want to make a reservation. Highly recommend it to anyone. My personal favourite is the fish n chips.6/12/2013 12:00:00 AMLow stress, high pleasurePerfect for a low key place. Great food that is distinctive but doesn't try too hard to be too creative. Not quite foodie special, but entirely satisfactory for foodies who want to take it easy and just get a meal that isn't crazy. Good service. Friendly atmosphere. Doesn't have to be a special occasion.6/11/2013 12:00:00 AMBest brunch I've had in PhillyLifelong resident of the Philadelphia metro area and had to "travel" to the UK for the best brunch. My wife agreed to try Dandelion reluctantly -- after all, the menu didn't sound particularly exciting. What a find. Everything was exquisitely prepared. Particularly good was the spring pea soup. I'm not ordinarly a pea soup fan, but I could make a meal out of this stuff. My daughter had the fish & chips which consisted of a single large fish filet with a beautiful, crispy crust and Dandelion's signature "chips" (fries for all you Yanks). I'm now looking forward to giving the place a try for dinner.6/9/2013 12:00:00 AMMiss the Vegetarian-friendly beansOne of my favorites. I was told it has pork in it on the day I dined. I hope they bring back the vegetarian beans. If you have had them, you know what I am talking about. Great meal. Was able to have Eggs Florentine instead of meat version.6/9/2013 12:00:00 AMA great Brunch SpotWe visited Dandelion for brunch. The food was very good and I would have rated it as excellent if they didn't put nutmeg in their mac and cheese. I wanted the traditional English Sunday roast but it was too early for it to be served so I went with the Bangers and mash. The sausage was excellent as was the onion gravy. The potatoes were fine. My partner had the fish and chips. The fish was probably the best I had ever tasted. Crisp on the outside and flakey on the inside the chips were thriple fired. I could have been satisfied with double fired. I'm not a fan of dark french fries but they were crispy and good. We shared the mac and cheese but I didn't eat much of it because I don't like nutmeg in my mac and cheese. I'd go back.6/9/2013 12:00:00 AMThe Dandelion Sunday AfternoonOur reservation was 3pm too early for the Sunday Dinner menu which began at 5. I usually like the Roast Beef which is only served at Sunday dinner. The afternoon menu was more than satisfying and we got to try different items we may have missed otherwise. We shared two appetizers one being the cheese tray, which was very good and did a beer sampler, and then ordered our pint after tasting the samplers. The hamburger, The Fish and chips and the seafood plate were all very good. Pricing was what you expect for a nice place in center city, but not overly expensive. the highest entree is $28. Good dessert
Service was excellent. Our server was very knowledgeable about all the beers and the menu items. Been there 4 times and will be back.6/9/2013 12:00:00 AMLondon on 18th StreetTaken to our 2nd floor table in a small room shared by a fantastic, English looking bar. Surrounded by dogs...photos, paintings, clay, etc. Several rooms further back giving us the feel of dining in a private home. Ordered shepards pie (lamb stew topped in yummy mashed potatoes and my friend had salmon that she said was the best ever. Dessert? Sticky pudding which was reminiscent of our last trip to London. A very relaxing evening with excellent service.6/9/2013 12:00:00 AMSomething definitely differentThe menu at The Dandelion is quite unique compared to the surrounding restaurants by Rittenhouse square. The cheese board, as most people recommend, was a great way to start the meal. I really enjoyed our server, and she was incredibly attentive, but not pushy. The only negative comment I have to add is that the kitchen was a litte backed up, so it took some time for our dinners to arrive. It was not too long of a wait, not long enough for me to say anything to the wait staff.
The fish and chips were quite tasty, and it did hit the spot.6/8/2013 12:00:00 AMThe food was excellent andThe food was excellent and appropriately priced. Our waiter was good, but a little over-attentive. He kept telling us to relax, but I felt so rushed, and my dining experience with my girlfriend was interrupted a little too often. It felt like he wanted to get us out of there fast.6/7/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat English pubThis is a great place with very good English pub food (yes, English!) and fine cask-condition ales.6/6/2013 12:00:00 AMAnglophile's DreamGreat restaurant in a converted town home, seating areas keep going upstairs with a second bar even. Very fun decor, heavily British themed menu, great cocktails, all in all a fun place. Went with another couple and we all enjoyed it a lot.6/2/2013 12:00:00 AMService was impeccable. EveryService was impeccable. Every server brings personality and warmth to the dining experience. Managers are visible and doing everything possible to assure dining experience is wonderful. Food is perfect. The fries are outstanding and the Bloody Mary is wonderful.6/2/2013 12:00:00 AMGood times and terrific food. Our group shared several appetizers which ranged from an excellent cheese board with well paired accompaniments to an outstanding duck and chicken liver pate. The homemade ricotta was excellent as were the crab "balls".
My friend had fish-n-chips and he does not eat fish...he loved it. His wife thoroughly enjoyed her Salmon, cooked perfectly for her, along with the roasted vegetables and cauliflower puree. My wife and I had the roast beef which had an excellent reduction and a perfect Yorkshire pudding to soak up whatever a jus was leftover...6/2/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat restaurantWe had a wonderful experience at Dandelion on Sat 6/1/2103. The service was excellent. The menu has many different selections from which to chose. The appetizers were especially interesting. The prices are very reasonable for a major city restaurant, Can't wait to go back.6/1/2013 12:00:00 AMService extraordinaireWe frequent Dandelions with pleasure. I met a good friend there for lunch this week, and as happens more often than I like to admit, I left my wallet on the table. When I discovered its absence from my pocket, I retraced my steps with apprehension, only to find that it had been found and placed safely in the drawer at the reception desk and that Dandelions had called my home telephone number and left a reassuring message. What more could I ask?5/29/2013 12:00:00 AMGood Food, Good ServiceIf you want good European style food and good beer, this is a place for you.5/27/2013 12:00:00 AMSolid dining experienceThe Dandelion is a lot like other Stephen Starr restaurants -- well-executed them-based establishment. The restaurant is the approximation of an English pub and does it well. The fish and chips live up to their reputation and the Welsh rarebit is good, too. The bread basket is excellent and my dining companion enjoyed her lamb shepherd's pie and deviled eggs.5/25/2013 12:00:00 AMcozy with a Euro touchOld-world charm with cozy UK homey ambiance. Rooms are uniquely
decorated and keeps the eye busy.
The dimner food selection is not as varied
as I would have liked too see..but the fish and chips and PEI
Mussels were extremely good. Service was outstandkng...even
all the managers and higher were friendly and genuine to us
And made small talk and wished us back....I know that wlsh will
Come true!5/25/2013 12:00:00 AMAmazingOur experience began with the decor and ambience of this place. I love
Old world charm and The Dandelion was like taking a walk through
Time. From the beautiful Bar and the cozy waiting area....I felt like
I was in England. There were so many diverse seating areas and the
Simple, yet elegant touches of lace and unique lighting fixtures gave
Me ideas for my own Home. The food was delicious and I would highly
Recommend the fish and chips. My family loved everything they ate.
My daughter is gluten free and there were so many delicious options for her as well.
I highly recommend this place!5/25/2013 12:00:00 AMThe chicken and duck liverThe chicken and duck liver parfait was really good, and I'm not even fond of liver! The scotch pancakes were delicious as well. The fish and chips were perfect, the fish was so flaky and the crust just right!5/25/2013 12:00:00 AMFirst time visitIt was our first visit to Dandelion and we thoroughly enjoyed the ambience. Our friends had the fish and chips and they were delicious. I enjoyed the salmon however there was a bit too much butter added. When we return, which we definitely will, I think I will try one of the signature dishes such as fish and chips, shepherds pie, etc. Looking forward to going back.5/24/2013 12:00:00 AMThis was my third visit forThis was my third visit for lunch this year and I obviously keep coming back for a reason - the food is great, inventive and delicious. The service is excellent and my party and I had a wonderful lunch before going to the Philadelphia Orchestra. I will be back again - I always try something different from the last visit and am never disappointed. Thank you.5/24/2013 12:00:00 AMWe'd been there several timesWe'd been there several times with friends and it is consistently good. Excellent service, good food, cordial staff5/20/2013 12:00:00 AMBusiness Dinner SuccessWe had 6 people for a business dinne ron a Monday night. The pkacewas full, but the upstairs was far from overly noisy. Wonderful food (crispy pork belly was out of this world) and excellent service, as the server knew when to appear and when t leave us alone. Also, terrific beer selection. The client came away very impressed.5/20/2013 12:00:00 AMLots of fun. Felt like weLots of fun. Felt like we were in Diagon Alley. Would have ordered butter beer if on the list.5/18/2013 12:00:00 AMFun & Interesting British fareThis is our second time to The Dandelion, and it is a consistently satisfying experience. The menu is diverse enough for our family, include children aged 9 and 12. The selection of appetizers and small plates was a great way to experience some of the menu's unique flavors. The server was very knowledgeable and helpful when guiding our decisions.
Bangers & mash, Scottish salmon, scallops, and steak and chips -- everything was delicious and comforting. Even the kids enjoyed everything on the table.
The Dandelion also has a fantastic beverage selection for both adults and kids, and the classic Pimm's Deluxe was terrific, as well as the fun speciality sodas.
Mature and casual/upscale pub atmosphere with unique rooms makes it fun to return.5/18/2013 12:00:00 AMThe DandelionThe Dandelion is definitely at the top of my list. We came around 9pm. Downstairs was pretty full and the noise level was high but everyone seemed to be enjoying themselves. My two friends and I sat upstairs. It was much quieter there, better for conversation. Our waiter came to talk to us immediately and filled our waters.
Soon after ordering the food came out. It was fresh and absolutely delicious! The flavors were well balanced and the portion size was perfect. I left feeling full and satisfied with some leftovers for the next day. The Dandelion also has a wonderful selection of beers and mixed drinks.
I would recommend this restaurant to anyone. I'll definitely be coming back here next time i'm visiting Philadelphia.5/18/2013 12:00:00 AMAuthentic English Pub! GreatAuthentic English Pub! Great food & Jonathon was an excellent waiter, who understood drink and food pairings.5/17/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat little pub but the musicGreat little pub but the music wes too loud for diners early in the evening.5/17/2013 12:00:00 AMLike London, but with a Philly vibeDandelion continues to offer a great experience, for brunch, lunch, or dinner. The bar scene is a lot of fun, but you can also have a cozy, romantic table for two. The service is true Stephen Starr high quality - friendly, knowledgeable, and professional. You can eat a little or a lot; either way, you'll be happy.5/16/2013 12:00:00 AMBread CredUnusual selections (e.g. Watercress soup, dandelion salad) came out great.
Accompaniments unusually good (e.g. Bread, coffee). Very accommodating for specialized drinks.
Definitely worth another visit.5/16/2013 12:00:00 AMFood and atmosphere were fantastic.Food and atmosphere were fantastic. Not a single complaint. Everything we had was excellent.5/16/2013 12:00:00 AMLoved everything about brunch! We come to Philly every now and then and we always make it a point to stop at the Dandelion. Delicious scones and french toast! My bf got the roast beef sandwich, which he enjoyed. We love the atmosphere and we are never rushed. We went for brunch and saw many large parties of 5-10, so it looks like a nice place for a get together too!5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMGreta dinner at The DandelionReally great dinner, loved the steak tartare loved the asparagus loved the mussels, rabbit pie my daughter had, and the Dark and Stormy was fantastic! Overall a delicous Mothers Day Dinner! The place is so neat looking too.5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat FindThis place is great. It has an Irish themed menu with a new spin on old classics. The Steak and chips was amazing, the side roasted asparagus is also highly recommended. The beer selection was very impressive as well. Highly recommended.5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMMother's DayWent here with our family. My niece lived in London, so she LOVED it. My husband and I visited there and thought your restaurant was better than anything we found in London. Will be back.5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat spot / night out with friendsHad a wonderful meal at Dandelion....6 of us went for a fun night out ....food was excellent, everyone loved their apps and meals...pate parfait was great....a LOT of pate served with fabulous toasted brioche (big enough to share), very tasty welsh rarebit, foie gras, ham hock terrine to die for. Excellent mussels, rich, delicious rabbit pie, best salmon entree ever. Service was very attentive. We had requested a table outside if weather would cooperate but when it didn't they seated us at a great table just inside the windows and it was a fabulous spot.
Will definitely return. It's a winner!5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMSimply the Best!Commitment to excellence in every aspect of dining is the obvious mission
of The Dandelion. Attention to detail adds to the experience exponentially.
Go for a fun, relaxed evening and be wowed by the food, service & ambiance.
Outstanding & memorable. Thank you owners & staff!5/9/2013 12:00:00 AMAnother Stephen Starr WINNEROnce again we brought Vistors to Philadelphia here for a great evening. We were greeted by the front desk as if we were family. Their concern was to make our evening PERFECT.. and so it was. We had an evening of appetizers . They were amazing.5/9/2013 12:00:00 AMMeat Butter... or what we have nicknamed the chicken and duck liver parfait, is the number one reason we keep coming back here! Its the best foie appetizer in the city. I've consistently had good service and can't wait to go back and sit by the fire before it gets too warm!5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMThe flavor of everything wasThe flavor of everything was superb. The lunch service was prompt, but we did not fell rushes at all. I would definately go back!5/3/2013 12:00:00 AMA family outing at DandelionWe enjoyed exploring Dandelion. The various rooms, the decor, and the food are great. Our only one downside, and it was a big one, was our waiter. He never would leave us alone, visiting the table frequently and in his over-the-top enthusiastic voice, ask us if we needed anything, how the food was, etc. I think he thought he was on a Broadway stage. Unfortuantely, he interfered with what would have been a nice and relaxing family dinner with our adult children. In terms of food, we had the fish and chips (good, but small portion), the hamburger (close to the best I've had), the mac and cheese (a litle too much cheddar cheese for my taste), and the the salmon (very good). We started with the housemade ricotta . . . it was wonderful!!5/2/2013 12:00:00 AMI scream inside for more! The outstanding chicken and duck parfait was a real showpiece portion almost looking like a beautiful smooth swarthy lobe of Foie Gras but a mousse whipped to perfection. The big thick slices of brioche made an impression, but not like a good artisanal baguette. The creative fresh house made red grape relish with red wine was graceful parfait-action. The highly touted Fish & Chips entree at $19.95 was a creative presentation on a warped rocking cutting board. The wild caught cod itself was excellent if scant and not at all what any good Brit would expect at this price..The service for sure was all I could have expected even if at times awkward and over vigilant. All in all a Starr production suffering the rift of many ocean miles .5/2/2013 12:00:00 AMReally Liked DandelionFabulous oysters with beet root - a rare combination and excellent rabbit pie were just two of the terrific dishes my friend from down under and I feasted on. Nice wine list too. Great meal overall - I can't wait to go back!4/30/2013 12:00:00 AMBest full on British breakfastBest full on British breakfast I've had in the states. Very solid spot.4/28/2013 12:00:00 AMThis was our second meal atThis was our second meal at Dandelion and both have been terrific. The wait staff is friendly and attentive, without being overbearing. Menu is terrific--a table of seven each had something different and all were pleased. The scones and raspberry jam are not to be missed. We were there at 1:30 on a Sunday afternoon, and even though the place was hopping the layout is such that it doesn't feel crowded and the noise level of the diners was tolerable. Our table of seven was able to converse normally. A great selection of beers, too. Highly recommended.4/28/2013 12:00:00 AMI loved the dandelion Tea.I loved the dandelion Tea. I had nothing to go on but a decent review that was a year old. I loved the British Cheese Board - so tasty, tastes were complimentary to one another - tart with sweet, strong with mild, the grape chutney was very good. The duck and chicken parfait was perfection! The Summer and Winter Beer Flips were delicious - difficult to describe - there were so many tastes. The date ice cream was worth the trip alone - subtle but great with the rum sauce. I didn't really care for the lemon curd - much more tart than the one I'm used to using - but if you like a strong lemon taste, you'll love this. The ambiance is great - we were in "Man's Best Friend" bar - a nice, comfortable room4/28/2013 12:00:00 AMthe dandelion is my new favoritethe dandelion is my new favorite restaurant. I have been highly impressed twice now, bot with the quality of the food as well as the service. an excellent experience every time. staff is welcoming, food is good, service prompt and attentive, and the price tag Is quite reasonable compared to other hotspots in the city. great, great restaurant4/27/2013 12:00:00 AMWe absolutely loved our firstWe absolutely loved our first visit to this restaurant; wouldn't hesitate to recommend it and look forward to going back again soon!4/27/2013 12:00:00 AMVery good food, excellentVery good food, excellent service and a nice setting.4/25/2013 12:00:00 AM
