  • "We had a bit of confusion regarding my reservation. I booked it through open table but open table thought I had another reservation and would not let me book it. I called the restaurant to get the table and they said they could seat us in the bar. We ate in the bar. I did not realize the restaurant was holding the reservation for me. All turned out great, and we enjoyed our meal and it was a fun place to go."

  • " Everything on the menu, from the delicate salads to the umami bursts in the entrees to the gelid glass of a martini, is spectacular. This restaurant is nestled in what appears to once been a house; it feels homely, a bit rustic with a shot of modernity in its heavy-handed silverware, steampunk pipe decor, and cast-ironed railing which vines around the walls. I will come here again, and again, and again. "

  • "This place has been around for a long time and for good reason. The atmosphere is fun and the energy good. The price is also good. I asked the waiter for a recommendation and he suggested a mushroom pasta dish. I don't usually order pasta as it's heavy but he assured me it was a moderate portion and super delicious. He was right on - it was outstanding and the perfect size as advertised, "Light portions". My husband got a burger which you'd think they would have nailed but it was not great. I don't know if it was the night or they need to work on their burger. We've been here before over the years and always had a good experience."

  • "It's not often that I go out on a Monday evening, but time with friends is always a needed respite for a hectic day. The Daily Planet was inviting from the time I stepped in, and the ambiance and food were just what was needed. Who knew Monday night was also Burger night...$6.00 for juicy perfection. My friend ordered the chickpea burger, neither of us were disappointed. It had been a while since I had been to the Daily Planet, but it was hopping, not overly crowded, but enough to let you know you picked a great spot in town."

  • "The steak was great and cooked right to order. Everything on my plate was delicious and the glass of Malbec that I got along with my dinner was awesome. The restaurant was quiet enough to hold a conversation, but with enough background noise to keep you comfortable. Also, the ambiance was very pleasing. I will definitely recommend this place to many people and plan on coming back again."

  • "Good food, good bar, cooling looking place, but the service needs to be a little more attentive. Also, the music selection is awful. The cooks were clearly having fun in the kitchen playing some Miley Cyrus, but it was too loud and leaked into the dining area too much. "Wrecking Ball" is really a great way to ruin an otherwise good dining experience."

  • "The DP is a frequent stop for my family. We return because it's convenient & good. This time, we were disappointed. Our server, while attentive, had an indifferent attitude. One soup was cool. The restaurant is kept very cold and maybe the soup is at a good temperature but when served into a cold bowl it cools below an acceptable serving level. My grilled chicken BLT was pathetic. Again the fries were not hot enough. The bread on the BLT must have been from yesterday. It was warmed slightly to make it more "pliable" but when it cooled by the time it reached my table it couldn't be compressed as one would due to get one's maw around it to take a bite. So, a bit of a bummer this time. I may go back, but it'll be awhile."

  • "It had been a long time since we'd been at the Daily Planet, so when a group of friends were headed out for dinner, I decided to make a reservation here, since in the past we loved it. This time, really not so much. I ordered the PEI mussels, which were extremely sweet (not in a good way). My husband had the mahi mahi, which was unevenly cooked, parts of which were pretty raw (not rare), and the fish was so watery that the crust on the top was mushy. His beer was great, though, and so were my truffle fries. Overall, the quality was not at all worth the price. I used to think this was a reasonably priced great place to eat for locals, but I've gone cold on it after this mediocre dinner."

  • "Our group arrived one by one, some late, but had to meet a time limit. Our server knew we had that time limit and was terrific about tactfully encouraging us to start putting in orders in time to enjoy the food. When we had some disorganized moments he was equally tactful and timed his return to the table as well. We had several out-of-town visitors with us, all of whom enjoyed the place, the menu, and its convenience to the Church St. area as well as their hotels, all within easy walking distance of the Daily Planet. They left raving about how much they love Burlington and want to return."

  • "The food and service were OK, but not exceptional. The duck breast, priced as $22, consisted of a few small tough pieces on a large solid boat of lettuce. My wife and I both felt rushed. With so many first-rate dining choices in Burlington, this should not rank near the top. The cocktails, however, were very good."

  • "The Planet is always decent but they could use a little creativity in their menu. Maura's salad sounds great and has been around for a long time, but consistently lacks the blue cheese and nuts advertised on the menu, you really have to dig for them, and the greens were over-doused in balsamic. We had a scallop special that was fine but kind of boring, white scallops on white turnip puree with over-salted arugula. I would recommend the Planet more for pub food (their nachos are great!) than a full dinner."

  • "We dined on New Year's eve. We were glad the regular menu was served. My wife's salad was very good but her duck breast over grilled romaine wasn't anything special. I had the snapper Vera Cruz which was tasty and well seasoned. Our waitress appeared to wish she were elsewhere. She was hard to find and wasn't friendly. When I ordered a second plate of oysters, the server bought them out with our entrées. When I said I'd like my oysters first, they kept the entrées warm in the kitchen for ten minutes resulting in dry entrées."

  • "Granted, we arrived on time for a 5:30 reservation and the place was relatively quiet at's the time,but it was still nice to see they were ready for us. Food was well prepared, although the duck could have been a bit more rare. It's easy to overcook duck so a bit more care in the kitchen would be helpful. It was still good, just could have been better. Prices were reasonable and ambience was cozy and funky. Will be back for a return visit."

  • "Went with a group of five and we had a variety of entrees between us, including two light entrees for appetizers. Everyone was happy with their choices. I had the Curried Vegetable dish and it was delicious and nice and spicy. I would definitely order it again. Others had the Spaghetti Squash entrée, the House Burger and a Special of the day. No one was disappointed. Service was a bit to swift for my liking, but she had nothing to do with the flavors of the food."

  • "Every time my girlfriend and I have been to the Daily Planet our experiences have been great (minus the cold soup I gto one night). They always seem to cook the food perfect to our liking. The vinilla bean creme brule is also very good. I will be going back for sure."
