Diner Reviews
  • "I go heere regularly for this squid ink pasta. Addictive and no better place for it."

  • "From what I understand, the Daily Catch has been around Boston for years. Not exactly sure how they made it that long. Food was fair to average. Marinara sauce was watery and fried calamari really had no seasoning whatsoever. I would recommend the black pasta though. It was tasty with the alfredo sauce. The rest of the meal didn't have much taste and service was really slow even though there were only about 5 tables occupied."

  • "It's too easy to get great seafood in Boston, so there is no reason to put up with such bad service. After we ordered, we waited a very long time. Finally the children's meals were brought. They had finished their meals before the adult meals were brought out. The additional sauce I ordered arrived when I was over halfway done. We ordered ice cream for our daughter, it took so long to arrive we cancelled it. I would not go back. "

  • "great place to celebrate a special family occasion. Food was delicious! Waite staff was attentive and friendly. Manager also came over to make sure everything was going well."

  • "The food was decent, but not the caliber I was expecting. I am not sure about those who gave this place 4 and 5 star reviews, maybe it is a different vibe and experience during the week as opposed to a Sunday night. Being a New York transplant, I am critical of Italian food and seafood. Our server was attentive and knowledgeable, but I think some help for her would have been a good idea, perhaps a food runner or a bus person. I think it is OK for outdoor dining, but the way the restaurant and building are designed, there is not much of a view of the harbor from inside."

  • "I like this system like Open Table. The Daily Catch cannot be made a reservation without Seaport."

  • "Going there is something else. It is at the end of the street, which the whole area is under construction. That being said, you can park across the street and validate your ticket before you leave. Not bad. If you have been to the one in the North End, close your eyes, the food is exactly the same. Outstanding. The smells are great and in the summer this place is the place to be. There is a covered patio right on the pier overlooking the ocean, just crazy great. The owner/ chief Basil, came out and was talking to us at the end of the night. Great touch. I had the lobster Fra Diavalo with squid ink pasta, there are just no words to describe the greatness of that dish. My sister had the pasta and clams and again, just unbelievable. Thank you."

  • "Mussels, Calamari Scampi, Black Pasta and monkfish! We enjoyed them all each time we have them! Good wines, good service, good management and food, a formula for success!"

  • "From the get go all staff at the restaurant were extremely helpful and kind. We went on a Saturday night and the restaurant was really busy so our table was not quite ready yet. They told us to sit at the bar and kept apologizing for the delay which we didn't mind because they were just so nice and tried to offer water and drinks while we waited. We were seated (only 10 min wait) and ordered our food (2 versions of the black pasta and the lobster dafrivolo, all really good. I would highly recommend the black pasta (aglio olio)! I would definitely come back for more!"

  • "What can be any worse than inattentive service combined with poor quality food at a price that warrants neither? The restaurant was nearly empty, and yet we had to search out our server for simple requests like water and bread. Clams Casino were burned. Calamari was chewy and tasted as if it was cooked in old grease. The grilled swordfish was a thick cut, but the size of a postage stamp and very dry and overcooked. The cost for two, before tip, was $120. Actually, it was more than that because due to the poor quality of the food as well as the very small portions, we were starving and had to stop and get a pizza in the North End!"

  • "I had never been to The Daily Catch before. I chose it because of the menu, because my fiance is a big seafood eater and because the restaurant got pretty good reviews in Boston Magazine. The place was a little hard to find with construction going on in the area, maybe they could put up better signage. The bar also only served beer and wine. A bit disappointing we were all in the mood for martinis, but we survived. We were celebrating a birthday and they told me I could bring in my own cake which I did. The server mentioned more than once, maybe even 3 times that he was not going to charge us for the cake, which I was thinking "ya you're not" Not sure why he mentioned that several times, we're thinking he's looking for a better tip!"

  • "This is a "hidden" gem of the Seaport which selfishly I would like to stay hidden! Best fried calamari and Clams Casino in Boston!"

  • "Each time we choose to eat at the daily catch we end up saying the same thing: there might be new places to try in the area, but why? The Italian seafood is great, the service is wonderful, the view of the harbor is lovely, and we always leave happy! Good management and great cooking=winning combination!"

  • "The ambiance and view was very nice. However, our food really was fair. One of my out of town guests ordered the Aglio Olio (Black Pasta with ground calamari) and it had so much garlic in it it was to the point of being spicy. I would have sent it back but she was very polite and choked it down. She did mention something to the waiter and he apologized but that was it. My dish was ok but not very memorable for the price. I would go back for the atmosphere but not for the food."

  • "Restaurant was very accommodating for our frequent changes of the reservation. Good food and good atmosphere (late evening dining, so was very quiet - I imagine it's different for the afternoon crowd.) with a decent menu selection. The staff was attentive without being intrusive and continually checked back to make sure everyone was happy. Overall a very positive experience. Out of town team who dined with us were impressed."

  • "Excellent food, great service and the parking lot was very close to the restaurant. 100 % satisfaction overall. We keep coming back every chance we can and I absolutely can not wait for the summer so that we can dine outdoors with a summer breeze and perfect view."

  • "Great experience. Owner was there greeting customers, everyone extremely gracious and friendly."

  • "The pricey fish entrees were nothing special. Soggy breadcrumbs on the broiled haddock. Salad was uninspiring with solidified balsamic dressing. $17 parking was not validated. Had been there before in the summer but second time in February was a disappointment.. With all the good restaurants in Boston, there won't be a third visit."

  • "Food was decent.....nothing to rave about. Service left lots to be desired."

  • "I think the main reasons to go here are the squid ink pasta or the view when dining outdoors. I thought the calamari apps were just okay, and some of the non-pasta main dishes (grilled shrimp and scallops, monkfish) were a little small for the price. The cast iron squid ink pasta dishes were great. Tasty and good amount of food. The location has a fantastic downtown view but you really only get to enjoy it if you are sitting outdoors, so this location is a great choice in the summer. Away from the windows the indoor restaurant doesn't get the view and is a pretty casual setting."

  • "Top notch place for brunch. Casual atmosphere and excellent service. Hannah was a superior service person and made us feel great even with a baby as one of the guests. My guests had the pris fixe omelets. Mushroom leeks and the American cheese were the favorites. All adored the cinnamon pastry. I ordered the salmon benedict. Over the top delicious. They let me sub fries for the brunch potatoes, and they were way better than most others I've ever had. Bloody Mary's also very tasty. I'm not a big brunch fan in general, but this one was what all brunches should emulate."
