  • "If the Cup Cafe was in operation in the ’30’s, it’s no wonder John Dillinger holed up there. Greeted by name, service was impeccable and we were addressed by name more than once by different waitstaff. My husband had the Real Thing - it's criminal to call this delight a hamburger - accompanied by Papas Fritas. We almost arm-wrestled. Fortunately, the Chicken & Gnocchi I ordered were equally delicious so we just split both plates. Their speciality cocktail, a Hurricane, made the 104-degree weather a distant memory. Parking is plentiful across the street, there is outside seating, and the prices are fair for the fabulous food. There are vegan offerings. We plan to return with friends in tow. At this cafe, their “Cup runneth over.""

  • "My husband and I loved the food at the Cup Cafe. I got the Jambalaya, excellent and my husband the beef bourgenion (spelling). I couldn't stop picking off his plate. The cocktails were nice too. Great pies and cakes for desert. Fun, trendy place with phenomenal food and menu."

  • "Having lived in Tucson for 28 years I'm sorry to say that this was our very first visit. It truly is a gem in the middle of a growing downtown. We definitely will come again."

  • "The Ahi Tuna salad was great. Delicious hot sourdough bread baked with olives and served with whipped butter. My husband had the jambalaya and it was also excellent. "

  • "We wanted to sit outside but there was too much cigarette smoke, so we moved inside. The food was great. Absolutely delicious. We had the steak special and the trout. Deserts were coconut cream pie and carrot cake. Wonderful meal. "

  • "We have been to The Cup Cafe three times in the last three week. Ordered something different each time. Everything is very good. Makes it hard to order."

  • "Food really good, good options for vegan, vegetarian. Beautiful Dessert display, didn't try but looked very enticing! Downtown Tucson inside the Hotel Congress. Love the Location!"

  • "We chose the Cup for our girls day out lunch and the food was excellent. However, we saw a Quiche special on the board and verified that was what we wanted with the waitress. Well, that is not what we were served. The special had changed and our waitress was not aware. She also was asked twice to bring me a slice of lemon which I never did get. The other servers at other tables appeared more well informed (I overheard one describing the quiche that we were served). Overall I would come back for the food and hope the service improved next time."

  • "Only problem I see with this restaurant is the noise level. Every thing else is great. "

  • "Four friends from Sahuarita/Tubac join monthly for lunch. We decided to discover "DownTown Tucson". Our first discovery was The Cup Cafe and we all enjoyed it very much. Loved that we could get breakfast until 4pm and will be bringing our husbands up to explore that menu. Two of us ordered Fish & Chips that were tasty but decided we should have ventured into one of the salads or sandwiches which got "thumbs up" from the others of us. Loved the atmosphere, the history and our service while dining...overall a very worthwhile trip up North!"

  • "My partner David and I had dinner before going to a show at the Rialto. The food and drinks were wonderful. Our server Joe was very helpful with deciding what kind of cocktail to have before dinner. He was very pleasing to the eye too. Kudos to the Cup Café for a wonderful meal and drinks."

  • "I ordered the "Special", the steak with onion rings, asparegus spears, and garlic smashed potatoes. As usual, everything was great except the steak. The meat was so fatty, I could hardly eat a bite that did not contain a significant amount of fat. I'm a semi regular and had ordered this dish before. They must have gotten a deal on the meat but it was barely suitable for human comsumption."

  • "We selected The Cup Café because we could walk to the Fox Theater for our 7:00 show. We arrived at 5:30 p.m. The menu presented a variety of choices with tasty sounding descriptions. We decided on salads because the dessert display case led us in that directions. I had the house salad with orange slices and pecans - GREAT! My partner had a larger salad with grilled chicken. The seasoning on the chicken had a nice seasoned bite. We split the Tres Leches cake which was moist with a hint of citrus. I'm looking forward to my next visit and trying the grilled Portobello mushroom or the short ribs. This place is a repeater!"

  • "The old Congress Hotel is in a vibrant area of downtown Tucson. Friday night the street was packed with people. The restaurant has a limited seating area indoors and a large outdoor area. Our drinks were a generous size and tasty. Dinners also a large size and well prepared. Fish tacos particularity good. Carrot cake for desert very good. Be sure to check out the floor."

  • "There was only one negative. I made our reservation online 6 days earlier and specifically asked to be seated in Greg's section but when we arrived we were told it was unavailable. After some discussion with Greg and the hostesses we were able to sit in his section after all. He and the great food made for a very good time, however, what is the point of making a reservation and specifically asking for a certain server if it isn't going to be acknowledged?"

  • "Our party of four was new to The Cup and enjoyed it immensely. The food was excellent, as was the service. We'll be back."

  • "Our first visit to the Cup Cafe was a pleasant surprise. It truly lived up to it's reviews, particularly the food and service. If the weather is questionable for outdoor dining, ask for a window table. We found noise to be an issue in the inside seating area on a Friday night."

  • "We are visitors to Tucson and needed a place for dinner before a jazz concert at the Fox Theater. The Cup was that and more! Service was attentive, pleasant, helpful. The menu offered interesting and varied selections, including steaks and vegan choices. We decided on dinner salads (one with steak and avocado, the other with chicken). Both were generous and delicious. We shared dessert, an enormous piece of coconut cream pie that fully lived up to the hype about the desserts here. Altogether, an unexpectedly fine meal in this historical hotel. Don't miss it!"

  • "The Cup was a pre Fox Theater find, but was disappointing. Our server had the oddest fake voice and was virtually non existent. The tables are so close together that we had a conversation with some strangers at the next table. It was very warm and humid in the restaurant. Overall, just ok. Not a likely re-do!"

  • "We had not dined at the Cup Café in over 2 years and were pleasantly surprised at how much the restaurant had improved since our last visit. There were many and varied menu choices, both appetizers and entrees -- and they were different than the standard fare found throughout Tucson. Their fresh desserts still excel and the choices make you want to skip everything else and just eat dessert! Our appetizer and entree choices were superb and the carrot cake was one of the best we have had in Tucson. Our waiter, Greg, was one of the best we have seen in Tucson. As you can see, there were a lot of "bests". The only drawback is the extremely small dining area which elevated the noise level and makes seating a bit too close."

  • "Cup Café is a good spot for dinner before a show in downtown Tucson. People watching is fun sitting at the outdoor tables, the food was good, with a nice selection and the service came with a smile. We will definitely be back."

  • "Great spot to get together with friends and enjoy the downtown evening ambience. We can make a meal of the various starters (Mission Street Tacos and Fish Tacos are my favorites) and yet the entrees are generous, tasty and amazing. Fun selection of Arizona beers!"

  • "we had brunch here a few weeks ago (sat outside) and thought we would make reservations for Valentine's day and the special dinner menu. I ordered off the regular menu and my wife had a dinner special. Both were very good and the waitress was very accomodtaing. We sat inside and the table are limited and close together, but that adds to the charm of this place."

  • "We were delightfully surprised at the range of dishes that were offered and all really, really good. It took us quite a while to get a waiter to our table to order and to get more drinks. That was discouraging. It caused us to miss the Happy Hour prices on the drinks. The Nicoise Salad was very good, cooked to perfection. The Pork Loin Ragout was also very good and the homemade fries were some of the best I have ever had. We will definitely return. Top on our list"

  • "The food was great. We ordered the Heartbreaker, Hush Puppies, Beef Bourguignon (not as good as the rest of the meal), Sausages and Shells and Boston Cream Pie. We sat away from the kitchen, near the main entrance and overal had a great experience. Sevice was good."

  • "Everything about our dinner experience at the Cup Cafe was amazing. The Hotel Congress is the hub of a vibrant, exciting downtown, and the Cup Cafe is right there in the middle of it. From the greeting at the front to the good-byes as we left, the staff are warm and friendly and welcoming. The Ruby Trout melted in my mouth, and the others in our party likewise very much enjoyed their entree. The Cup Cafe is very popular - reservations recommended."

  • "We recently dined at the Cup Cafe with friends and as usual had a very enjoyable evening. The food and service were excellent, as usual. We take friends to the Cup regularly and have never had a bad meal or experience. It is one of our favorite places to eat in Tucson."

  • "The Cup Café at the Congress Hotel is a great mix of well executed contemporary food within an interesting, and hip historic setting. the dining room was very comfortable and the pace of the meal relaxed. the creative assortment of appetizers was particularly impressive."

  • "We've gone to The Cup Cafe twice for breakfast and I have been blown away both times. I'm not much of a breakfast person but I'd eat breakfast here any day. We've also had dinner here once and it was also very good, I've never had olive bread that I like but the slices they brought us before our main course was ready were amazing. I also love the ambiance here, the penny covered floor, the wine bottle chandelier, etc... I don't think I would come here with a big group (8+) since there aren't many big tables."
