The Crimson SparrowUnusual Menu...Intriguing CombosSmall plates (not too small!), wild and different ingredients, friendly competent quick service. We got to view the kitchen throu a window while eating....great view. Casual ambience.5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat experienceExcellent food, comfortable atmosphere, priced right. I'll definitely be back.5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMCrimson Sparrow SoarsStaff are friendly and down to earth, yet professional. The restoration of the property is top notch - tasteful, rustically comfortable and inviting. It's a joy to be able to order several plates of varying size and so have a dining adventure. All dishes are ample and lushly presented and absolutely yummy, as were wine, dessert and coffee. We walked out sated, and soaringly happy with the entire experience. Some have pointed to priceyness, but the value is exceptional, and even factoring in having to pay for the sublime Bonfiglio bread, apples to apples, this restaurant compares favorably to all other of the better restaurants in Hudson, or anywhere else for that matter. We'll take that walk from the bottom to the top of town often.5/2/2013 12:00:00 AMThis was surprisingly oneThis was surprisingly one of the best culinary experiences I've ever experienced (and that's over 60 years of experience!) This small plate restaurant was a complete delight. Chef Ben's use of ingredients created little umami explosions.
If you are ever near Hudson NY, go find this special place.4/25/2013 12:00:00 AMExceeded our expectations.Exceeded our expectations. Very creative chef, knowledgeable staff, and relaxed atmosphere. Can't wait to go back.4/24/2013 12:00:00 AMWe had a wonderful brunchWe had a wonderful brunch at Crimson Sparrow this past Sunday.I loved the whole build your own plate concept, in which you can select 4 items from the list of about a dozen, to literally build your own plate. The food was delicious and I would recommend it.4/21/2013 12:00:00 AMThe food was both inventiveThe food was both inventive and delicious. We (my wife and I) started with drinks from the bar menu bar - interesting, well prepared and tasty (not shy on the pours). We then moved to our table and shared four small plates - with bread service. A little put off by having to pay for bread - although excellent - should have been included given the pricing on the food. The buratta with avo was perfectly flavored, fresh and very good. The chicken liver was outragious. It was nothing like we imagined - and was truly a special dish. The lamb loin was perfectly cooked and fantastic - the Masa Gnochi was divine (the mushroom flavors wonderfully punctuate). Only complaint would be that the dishes - were truly small. Made us shy away from desert4/20/2013 12:00:00 AMAnother incredible experienceAnother incredible experience at the Crimson Sparrow -- the presentation is so beautiful, and the pairings of food so unusual and delicious. It was a little cold at first but they turned up the heat and it was fine.4/13/2013 12:00:00 AMWorth the tripVery eclectic food. I loved most things, my wife not so much
I would definatly come again3/28/2013 12:00:00 AMAmazingly presented platesAmazingly presented plates with unusual combinations of flavors and textures.
Stunning/interesting decor that seems to "go with" the food! In-take at front door could be better....more welcoming.3/24/2013 12:00:00 AMWow!My husband and I had a fabulous meal of four different plates plus dessert. Everything was inventive and delicious. The highlights were the black garlic papardelle with goat(!)and tiny Honshemeji mushrooms, the pork belly with yuzu, and the chocolate cake with bay leaf ice cream, caramel, dates and pretzel. The service was excellent - friendly and knowledgeable. The bar and dining rooms are beautiful and the glass-front kitchen was fun to watch. I'm sure the garden will be a great spot to dine in warm weather. We spend many weekends in the Berkshires and often drive to Hudson for dinner. I have not had food this amazing anywhere in the region. I can't wait to go back!3/23/2013 12:00:00 AMIf your are willing to reachIf your are willing to reach outside your comfort zone this is the place for you! We loved every part of my meal!3/15/2013 12:00:00 AMManhattan food without the attitudeThis is an amazing find! I recently moved to Western MA from NYC and being in the luxury hospitality business, I am more accustomed to Le Cirque than Friendly's. It's been a hard transition, to say the least. We drove an hour just to eat here. I am happy to say, the trip was worth every minute. The food was amazing. We overindulged and ordered seven plates for two of us, plus all three desserts. The food was creative and unique (and incredibly delicious, obviously). The service was very friendly and attentive. All in all we had the kind of night you want lots of pictures of to make all your friends drool with envy, even if those friends are in a big fancy city.1/30/2013 12:00:00 AM
