We keep trying this spot ready to be just thrilled and always end up with a perfectly adequate meal...BUT, and this is where we are "splitting hairs," for 25-30 dollars per entrée we would really like a tablecloth, not a table that looks as if they were purchased at an Olive Garden or Denny's going out of business sale. & for 12 dollars per wine by the glass, invest in some real crystal wine glasses, not the generic ones with a big "lip" that ruin the taste of a decent bottle of wine. If it's 5 bucks a glass, fine, but good wine needs a good glass...any "upscale" restaurant ought to know that. The fish entrees are excellent, at 5-6 dollars per "scallop" they ought to be...But warning, I'd bet those aren't diver scallops as advertised!

  • New Concept, But Not a New Favorite

I had enjoyed several good meals at Pesce Fresco a couple of years back and hoped this concept would be as good. Unfortunately that was not the case. Calamari (sautéed) was actually good, but pretty spicy, which was not depicted on the menu. I ordered the marlin and was assured that it would be a flakey, tender version of swordfish... It was pretty tough and chewy (I rarely send food back because I was hungry and don't like to make a stink). The asparagus that topped the marlin was WAY overlooked. My wife ordered a shrimp dish and special ordered her shrimp to be sautéed instead of breaded. The shrimp was slightly undercooked with very little flavor. The cremè brûlée was good, just a little tepid. Waiter was nice and pretty responsive.

We have been dining at The Creek for years (it was Pesce Fresco). The food has always been a bit pricey - but very good and the service was excellent. We hadn't been able to go for a number of months and was surprised to find the service was horrible. Paul still runs an excellent kitchen and the food was very good. The wine was not a disappointed either. However, the service was collegiate and no longer the professional service we were used to. We were told that Erin is not there any longer - and possibly that is why the wait staff is so poor. Whatever, it is probably our last visit. When you spend that kind of money for a wonderful experience - and the experience is marred by poor service - well

After reading about The Creek online, I was interested in trying this restaurant, as there are so few places to get good seafood in the Denver metropolitan area other than downtown. The lobster, crab, scallops, and shrimp that we had were all fairly fresh and pretty tasty -- certainly above average. My only complaint is that the wine list is rather limited, and it's weighted toward wines under $35/bottle. All in all, though, The Creek is a nice, intimate place in an unexpected location. We'll definitely be back again.

Staff and Chef are friendly and attentive. Food was excellent and reasonalbly priced. Shrimp and Grits had a nice spicey note which went well with my tap beer. (Nice choices of Microbrews on tap). We also had a salmon dish that was perfectly done on a bed of orzo. It was refresshing to have calamari in a spicey sauce with fresh toast and bread and not the issue one each fried calamari. The Jazz duo with Clint Dadian was awesome. I would have enjoyed them more if they were in the main dining room, although, having music in the bar area was nice, too.

I would not recommend this restaurant. I felt the mussels and sausage (appetizer) had an exteme smokey flavor. My husband said they were ok but I did not have more then 2. I did not care for them at all. Our meals were ok but nothing that made we want to come back.

We dined on the special menu for Denver Restaurant week. The Lobster Ravioli and the Shrimp and Grits were very tasty. They were the right sized portion for the meal. However when our checked arrived, there was a $2.00 charge added to the cost of the cocktail for ordering it "on the rocks". There wasn't any mention of this potential charge by our waiter. $2.00 for Ice? Are you kidding me?!?!?!

Our Restaurant Week dinner on Wednesday night was quite enjoyable. The entree selections were varied - our group sampled three and all were delicious. The calamari appetizer was very good, and not the usual fried calamari. The shrimp appetizer contained too many jalapenos and we couldn't eat it. Service was careful, even though there were too few waitstaff for that evening's crowd. The exterior strip mall facade belies a sophisticate interior. I would definitely go back to Creek Seafood to order from the full menu. A few tweaks to the Restaurant Week menu would have upgraded the experience, but I was impressed at how well the kitchen and the front of the house performed on such a busy weeknight.

Having enjoyed the Creek previously, we were interested in introducing it to friends. Partly because we were there early (6 pm) on a Monday night, it was quiet and easy to chat (and hear) across the table. Notice that is top priority to our group! The service is very attentive, and the food delicious. It is SO hard to choose from all their wonderful selections. The calamari lived up to its reputation, the "cheesecake" appetizer was also delicious. Our party enjoyed the lobster ravioli, the shrimp and grits, and the wonderful salmon. And wished we had room to try more entrees! Leave a little room for the desserts ~ just as hard to decide between them! All in all, a wonderful restaurant, 9 1/2 *s.

Great, great service....that is where the good news stops. We decided to try someplace new for restaurant week. The shrimp in the appetizer and entree was b-l-a-n-d. Is it possible that it was purchased frozen from Sam's Club? Lobster ravioli was just okay, portion was small with only 3 ravioli on the plate. Dessert was the highlight, small portion to share. Both of us I'll that night--will NOT return!

We went recently during restaurant week. Have always wanted to try this restaurant and this gave us a good opportunity as the menu is a bit pricey. It's location is interesting, off the beat and path. The food was very good, but the service was slow and at time inadequate. Our only complaint on the food was that we had to share an appetizer and dessert for the 5280 menu. The appetizer was substantial enough to share, but dessert was barely enough for one person let alone two. Although the food was good, the service and slight on the dessert was enough to go elsewhere next time.

We had a great evening dining at The Creek. Food, service and the attitude of all we came in contact with were above expectations. There were four of us and each had a different entree and all were excellent. They seated us in the very small back room which was fine for us because it was quiet and we ended up the only party there. This area may be too confined for some but not us. Will not only go back but will also tell our friends to try this place.

The artichokes with the crab ravioli made this item taste strongly of vinegar. I could not taste the crab meat which was ground into tiny pieces inside the ravioli. This item might be improved by removing half the artichokes and adding a couple more ravioli with some bigger pieces of crab meat. I should have sent it back to the kitchen. The price was too high for this very small lunch.

We used to eat here when it was an Italian Restaurant, but stopped because the manager was rude and argumentative. We noticed that the name had changed, and figured we would give it a chance, and are we ever glad we did. We met the new manager, Kellen, who brought us a free glass of wine just because it was our first time in to the new place! From there things only got better. The caprese made with Colorado peaches was outstanding, and the shrimp & grits was the best my husband or I have ever had. The service was was outstanding, and the place had a lively vibe. We are so glad this little neighborhood restaurant got rid of the rude manager, and replaced her with someone who is friendly and warm. We can't wait to come back.

We have been going here for years and have never been disappointed. The menu is limited, but the focus is on quality. I always order that day's special because I know the fish is fresh. The calamari appetizer (not fried) was served in a wonderful broth with capers. The service was not rushed, and the wait staff was very friendly. Although not inexpensive, it is nice to have a locally owned restaurant that is trying to make every dining experience memorable.

We liked the food, it was a nice touch having one of the chefs deliver some of the food to the table. But $33 for 4 scallops and a couple of crab ravioli is a bit pricey. The lobster tacos are very good. The Hawaiian Prawns were also very good, but hard to each because the shells were burnt onto the meat and hard to remove.

The 'Creek' is our favorite go-to restaurant in the DTC area year-round. Be aware that their summer menu is shortened a bit, very smart, I think since summer diners can be a bit if-fy at times. Had the best ever ruby red trout and all their fish and seafood is always the very freshest and prepared perfectly.

The menu had a very limited selection and the food was certainly nothing special, and especially not good value for the price. I think the salad greens were probably from a package that came directly from the Safeway next door. The wine pour was meager at best and although the service was efficient I would characterize it as abrupt and unwelcoming. The "music" playing in the background was certainly inappropriate for an establishment that seems to want to price its meals as like in an upscale establishment. Would you believe country rock played by a local am radio station! Give me a break! If I wanted to hear that while dining I'd go to a bar-b-que joint with peanut shells on the floor and not spend $33 for four meager scallops.
