  • "We have eaten brunch here many times before and have always loved the breakfast food. The care that goes into preparation of basics like the hash browns and the eggs has always been evident, and the oatmeal pancakes are fabulous. On our most recent visit, however, the food was drastically different. The eggs and hash browns were greasy and tasted like food served at a mediocre diner, and the pancakes were dry. I don't know if the restaurant is scrimping on quality ingredients, has a new cook, or is just getting sloppy, but please bring back the old brunch we know and love!"

  • "We went for brunch. My partner said his meal was very good (he had the salmon). Mine was terrible. I ordered the eggs benedict and the poached eggs were perfect, but there was very little hollandaise, the so called English muffin was cold, not toasted and bread-like and the Canadian bacon had a very tough and "chewy" rind. The potatoes were stone cold as well. I didn't want to wait another twenty to twenty-five minutes to have my meal replaced. Our waiter did his best but we seemed to be pretty well ignored compared to other tables. The noise was deafening and it was difficult having a conversation. Since the place was mobbed with a line out the door, I ate what was edible and we left. It was just an unpleasant experience for me all around."

  • "Good beer selection, though my wife ordered a white wine that was on the chalkboard and we were told it was not available for the lasr two days, just erase the board.We ordered favorite dishes, fish and chips and brick chicken just felt like comfort food though the newer salmon dish went by so that will be the next time choice. Our server, Dan was friendly and attentive and we started to talk about IPA choices. Never had a bad meal or bad experience at the restaurant will be back in the next few weeks. It is very popular so we need to make a reservation not a good choice for a quick night out ,always a wait."

  • "This is a restaurant that seems to work better for lunch than for dinner as a dining destination. I've been there regularly. At dinner, the dining area takes on the feel of an upscale school cafeteria. The food is adequate, nicely plated and the core protein is usually well prepared--though somewhat bland. The sides (and I've tried most) are weak and too small (at best) to compliment the dishes. Prices should, therefore, be reconsidered to expand this part of the dishes, or else provided as additions to the menu."

  • "Meal started well. California Caesar is terrific. Fresh ingredients and pleasing flavors. My husband's fish dish looked beautiful but he didn't rave. The Brick Chicken was a huge disappointment. Next to my husband's beautifully plated meal, my dinner looked like something my children had made. The mashed potatoes were swimming in butter. The chicken was frantically seasoned and the butter literally dripped off of each forkful. The green beans were good, but it was a lot to pay for beans. The ambiance is odd. It could almost be romantic, but it is too bright. It could almost be an inviting, approachable neighborhood restaurant, but this is one stuffy, preppy hood. Service was friendly but rushed and somehow brusque. Hmmm....."

  • "We enjoyed a lovely Sunday night dinner with friends. The bartender was very good and the drinks were nice. We were seated at a table for four in a nice area. Our waiter was a young man who was pleasant but not thorough. He was also too brash. Additional training may help. We would definitly go back especially since Sunday nights are not too crowded."

  • "Getting together with friends, we haven't been together in 7 years. We had to opportunity to celebrate our b-days together. Our server was very attentive to our needs and understood that we hadn't been together in along time so trying to catch-up and have a celebration at the same time. We did not feel rushed at all we were encourage to take our time and enjoy which was really nice. It did get a bit noisy at one point, then same to calm down. The food was great the desserts amazing!"

  • "Highly recommend making reservation through Open Table. Glad we did! Got corner quiet table we requested Service was impeccable. There when you need them, no rushing, attentive. Atmosphere was lovely. Quickly got busy w every table filled by 12, but still maintained quieter atmosphere for conversation. Warm rolls and butter. Had salmon quiche with salad - rich, delicate, delicious. Friend had generous 1/2 chicken salad on brioche and homemade beef barley soup. The 2nd friend had avocado salad- 2 halves topped with chicken salad on a delicious bed of quinoa. Exquisite presentation! Would definitely go again for a special occasion or dinner. A little pricy for lunch, at $62.00(w/ tip), but felt we got our moneys worth. Recommend highly."

From the grumpy hostess who barely cracked a smile, to our completely inattentive waiter, to the little wealthy insufferable children (part of a large party) running around and disturbing people's lunches while their parents did nothing to stop them. As for food, our apps order was "overlooked" so we had to wait an inordinate amount of time (and there was no manager who apologized, or took one of them off the bill, as is customary at fine dining restaurants). We ordered a steak "medium rare" and it came to us RARE. Like uncooked. Oh, and without a steak knife too. Since our waiter was not around, I had to get up and ask a waiter if he could find us one. This was 5 full minutes after the food was served."

  • "I normally enjoy every meal I have at The Cottage, so I was disappointed last Friday when both my and my sister's entrees were subpar. The aloha chicken tenders we ordered for our appetizer was incredible, very flavorful. However, both of our entrees were disappointing. The chicken piccata, which I have enjoyed at The Cottage before, came with a very watery sauce that had way too much liquid that was just pooled at the bottom of the plate instead of adding flavor to the pasta and chicken. Additionally, the chicken flavorless, just several pieces of grilled chicken thrown in, instead of the standard breaded chicken that normally comes with chicken piccata. It seemed like maybe they'd forgotten my order and thrown that in last minute."

  • "On my first visit the main course arrived while we were still having our appetizer. The house special meat loaf appeared to have been under a heat lamp for some time and was not very good. The server wasn't very attentive and had to be flagged down when we needed something. Overall very disappointing. Tried it on another night the service was better the chicken piccatta was terrible. I guess it's popular but I don't get it!"

  • "I have eaten at The Cottage several times, always a long wait to be seated if you don't have reservations. I made reservations this time and was seated promptly, the waiter was slow to take our order, didn't bring the bread offered, forgot to put one of the orders in and was no where to be found during our meal. The food was good, but the overall experience was disappointing. I left a tip of 20%, but the service was not deserving of a tip."

  • "I went out here with my family for a birthday dinner. The service was absolutely perfect (just the right amount of "checking in" on us and coming around as soon as it looked like we needed anything). We all enjoyed our salads and entrées very much. The menu is a bit of a hodgepodge of different ethnicities, but is still small enough to give you options without being overwhelming. The wine list is mostly dominated by California and Washington state wines, but as it is advertised as an "American cuisine" restaurant, this is to be expected. We even got a free dessert at the end with a candle in it :) All in all, this is definitely a place we will be returning to, and I would recommend it to anyone looking for a nice night out."

The servers are all really nice and accommodating to all food and dietary restrictions. Perfect place! One note: Slightly on the expensive side but definitely worth it."

  • "I have never been disappointed at the Cottage! Never been for dinner, but the lunches are always fabulous. The wait times can be long because it's such a popular place, so I'm going to use Open Table from now on (first time I've ever used it for a lunch reservation). Can be loud, but in a nice way... happy conversations with families and friends, not a noisy bar scene. Turkey burger is to die for. Patio dining in warmer months is perfect. Service ranges from good to excellent."

  • "So being a chef my expectation of a food service opperation are kind of high, but i think i give fair and accurate reviews. All the food and drinks were very good but the whole night started off bad when they sat us over 35 mins after our reservation time. All the hostess were very disrespectful to, while standing at the bar for drinks, the hostess where joking around and not thinking of a busy resturant as a bad thing, thats your revenue. Our waiter was very nice but wasn't very observate and disappeared for long periods of time, expecialy when my wifes dish was messed up twice. The food was very good but the service was really the down fall to the experience."

  • "I have breakfast here every time I visit my daughter at college--about twice a year for the last three years. The Cottage never disappoints us. Their breakfast selections are delicious, with generous portions. It is always crowded for our Sunday morning visits, so reservations are a must. Even though very busy, the service is excellent and friendly, and we can hear our own conversations while not being bothered by others. My daughter is vegetarian and there are lots of options for her. It is our traditional breakfast location now, and I'd highly recommend it."
