  • Parking Details: At The Cooperage, we are pleased to offer our guests valet parking Tuesday through Saturday. Please enter the parking lot from Lafayette Circle and drive up to the valet station in The Cooperage/Fiesta Lane parking lot.

    There is also parking available in the Fiesta Lane parking lot.
A word from The Cooperage
The Cooperage American Grille, locally owned by Lafayette Residents, Andrew and Merilee McCormick, is a rotisserie-inspired American grill. Chef Partner Erik Hopfinger's extensive menu features American favorites like slow roasted chicken prepared in a glass-encased rotisserie oven, New York steak, beef tenderloin, and our signature burger (made with our own meat grinder at the grill). The Cooperage also offers healthier options, including a selection of salad entreés made with local and organically grown ingredients.

The Cooperage is comfortable for families dining with children and features a large bar area with flat screen TV's, 12 beers on tap, eight wine selections on tap, and vintage cocktail list.

  • "Hard surfaces produce brutal noise level. Brussel sprouts were excellent; the Derby salad consisted of piles of bacon pieces and very strong cheese, barely dressed salad leaves. Companion enjoyed her cooked vegetablesand ahi tuna crudo. It was a relief to be released from the cacophony. Why is the highest choice I have on the noise level scale merely "energetic"?"

  • "Heirloom tomato salad needed more cheese and they wanted to charge me $5 for a little bit more. Burger was ok, the cheddar cheese was completed melted off of it, French fries were a somewhere between fries and potoe chips. I would not hurry back."

  • "The Cooperage is has a nice layout but where we sat was extremely noisy. Service was very good. The food ranged from very good to not good at all. Eggs Benedict is their brunch specialty and very good. The hash was not good. Other dishes were OK. The deserts were OK but too sweet for our taste. The cappucchinos were good and strong (I like that) but were bitter. There was a fight in the kitchen and we left quickly after that."

  • "Went here for brunch with my father this past weekend. Had the crab Benedict. It was very tasty, and paired perfectly with a glass of Gruner Veltliner. We sat outside but in the shade. It was a fun spot, and I can't wait to come back with friends."

  • "We had a nice table outdoors, had good service and our salad and my chicken entrée were fine. However, my companion ordered the rib-eye and said it was one of the worst steaks he ever had. Although it seemed to be cooked to order, it was very dry and stringy and had no flavor. It tasted like they had cooked it earlier, then put it in a micro-wave to heat it up. Although it was recommended by our server, we would not order another steak at this restaurant."

  • "We celebrated my birthday here as a family. The food, service, and interior were very nice. My only issue was the noise level. It was very crowded, but also very noisy. Otherwise, we had a great time."

  • "The menu is interesting, the presentation very nice, the waiter took care of business, the busboys were attentive, and the restaurant looks fresh and well thought out. Some of the dishes were not "there" yet and as such did not reflect the prices. Hopefully that will come together going forward. The wine prices are really steep and we felt there could have been be some althernatives. We sat inside and the "energetic" level of noise sometimes made it difficult to communicate. We will try it again and maybe sit outside."

  • "Second visit, not too different from the first. The food is good, but not outstanding. The most notable thing about the restaurant is the noise. We requested an outdoor table hoping it wouldn't be as loud as inside the restaurant, but it was still too loud. You still need to shout to carry on a conversation and you're still straining to hear even at that. The food is good and some people won't mind the noise (and would view it as an "energetic" place)."

  • "Service was good, waitress friendly and followed up on our requests. Made reservations for 5:45 as they were booked from 6:00 till past 8:00pm. Our table was set for the inside, as being such a nice evening we asked if they had outside available, Hostess found us and outside table and we were happy campers. Food also good, had crab & bay shrimp salad and was very pleased with our choice."

  • "When booking, they do not allow special requests. I wanted to reserve a booth because two people were hearing impaired. It was not permitted. When we arrived, no booth was available. The restaurant is VERY loud. I wish they would change that policy."

  • "This was my fourth visit to the Cooperage. Previously I can say the food was outstanding. This time the Caesar Salad was limp and overdressed and the prime rib was chewy and not particularly tasty (first time for the beef, so I cannot compare). The key lime pie tasted old. I am sad to report this as past experiences were great."

  • "We had heard wonderful things about The Cooperage food. Went there, perhaps with unreasonable expectations, but were disappointed. The service was excellent but the food, while ok, wasn't any more than that. My daughter and I had the 1/2 roasted Rocky Jr. chicken. My daughter's was inappropriately pink in part. Mine was cooked and tender but had no real flavor. My wife had the shrimp/crab Louie. Again, ok with tiny bay shrimp and some clumps of crab, but nothing special. For the price, not great."

  • "Salmon was a little disappointing. Waitress advised us the salmon is prepared rare, unless requested otherwise. I asked for the salmon to be cooked thru, and it came cool/raw in the middle. The sauce was great, however the cut of salmon was maybe 4oz. Loved the outside dining area and the service was ok."

  • "Had a 1130am reservation. Got there at 1130 with two groups ahead. Three more groups arrived Door did not open tip 1139am. Across street at Chow many people enjoying lunch. With many groups waiting did not get seated tip 1150am. Poor start for first time. Otherwise things were fine"

  • "Fun scene, but put in back room -- not as fun. I think this should be disclosed when making a reservation. Brussels sprouts salad was excellent! Very disappointed that shrimp and grits was not available, especially because the choice of lighter (non-red meat) entrees is very limited. Had the roast chicken, which was good, however, mashed potatoes were totally cold, and broccolini was very hard/undercooked."

  • "This was our third time to the Cooperage and once again the food took forever to come out of the kitchen. Our waitress was very attentive, however she never mentioned the food taking so long and offering any apologies or explanation. It was only when we were obviously getting annoyed that she said the food would be out shortly. Our salads came out quickly but then we sat and sat waiting for our entres, which were basic items off the menu. We were OK with waiting until we noticed that tables around us, who were seated after us and all ordered well after us, were getting their food. We wanted to give the Cooperage a chance at the beginning since all restaurants need some time to work out the kinks, but it's been long enough."

  • "Great Burger! This was my first time at the cooperage and a burger is what all three people in our group ordered. We were happy with our choice. Looks like some nice salads are served there and I saw the Ruben sandwich going by and It looked huge. Very generous portions. Nice atmosphere We ate inside But there is a nice outside seating section too."

  • " Very stingy with the seafood in the shrimp/crab Louie. Quite a lot of rind chopped up with the lardons in the cob salad, could not be chewed. Nice warm french rolls. Limeaide delicious. Meals however, Did not measure up to last time I was here and had a terrific mushroom soup. Brought guests, ended up apologizing for the disappointing meal."

  • "The menu is limited but the food is good. We had the Cobb salad, kids Mac-n-cheese, BBQ ribs appetizer (as a meal) and short ribs. Everything was delicious and the meat was tender and falling off the bones. The waitress was wonderful taking the time to inquire about food allergies (eggs, gluten) with the kitchen. Food came out so fast, I had to go and find my husband who took a mini walk with the kids after we ordered. The only odd thing is the check in with the hostess, we had a reservation so we checked in and we were a bit early (10mins). We were asked to come back at our scheduled time and when we came back (at the scheduled time) the hostess seemed a bit annoyed. Not sure why?"

  • "Even though we had an early reservation, we were seated underneath a speaker that was blaring music so loud I had to stop the waitress that was telling us the specials because I couldn't hear a word she was saying. I had asked to be seated in a booth, but was told they were for parties of 6 and we were a party of 4. The food was average - nothing that I haven't had before at other restaurants. Our waitress was attentive and did her best to make sure we were taken care of."

  • "The Cooperage has fantastic food and great wine. It is excellent for brunch, lunch and dinner. Their steaks are the best in Lamorinda. I frequent this place a lot. My only issue is that it takes a very long time to get drinks. They are new so hopefully this is something that they can figure out. Besides that I give them 5 stars all the way around!"

  • "Indoors is a noisy sports bar scene. As a member of the over 60 set, I couldn't wait to get outside. In spite of a reservation, we had a considerable wait for an outdoor table. Wait staff worked to accommodate my food allergies. Food is good but not memorable. Tables quite close together and a loud neighboring "valley girl" conversation at the next table was distracting. The outdoor scene at Cooperage may look like Paris, but it sure doesn't sound like Paris."

  • "The Cooperage is a nice addition to Lafayette and the restaurant is beautiful. It's very noisy inside so I'm glad we reserved a table outside. The waitress was friendly but slow and inattentive. We waited 15 minutes to have our order taken, and food was really slow coming out. The cocktails were great and my french dip good, though not sure it was worth $17. The menu could use more variety. I would go back to the bar and only order a drink and appetizer."

  • "My third visit may be three strikes and you're out for The Cooperage. Food is average even their claim to fame - steak was returned for being too overdone for MR and the new one was almost raw! Not a fan of the tap wine. However, the restaurant is inviting with its red outdoor umbrellas and outdoor seating."

  • "I visited with friends for the first time upon a recommendation about a new neighborhood restaurant. Very big place and a nice crowd for lunch. Salads and sandwiches were good and nice portions. Howewer the fettuccini and grits entrees were ridiculously small even for lunchtime. There is no way the restaurant and the wait staff should allow customers to order these dishes without warning. Will likely not return as I am concerned the management does not yet have its pricing in order. I left embarassed that some of my guests paid $20 for a pasta and $20 for grits that I would not even consider to be a half portion. Ridiculous!"
