The Comus Inn at Sugarloaf MountainBrunch at Comus InnThe easy listening jazz coming through the speakers got on our nerves a little. Bad elevator muzak took away from the otherwise pleasant atmosphere.6/2/2013 12:00:00 AMThe brunch menu could be expandedThe brunch menu could be expanded a bit. Need to offer more choices.6/2/2013 12:00:00 AMEnjoyed our lunch so much!Enjoyed our lunch so much! Thank you! Unfortunately, the large tent blocked our view! I guess this is the price for the popularity of this place for weddings.6/1/2013 12:00:00 AMMagical revisit to a favorite placeClearly the staff from maître d',to waiters to chefs want to ensure that you enjoy your visit. MThe Maryland style crab soup was a great starter– packed with crab. Many appetizers (deep fried pickles), salads and entrees (mac n cheese with crab & bacon) had a unique twist thanks to a creative chef who is as attentive to presentation as melding of flavors. The dessert menu was new and delicious-we'd recommend the chocolate pyramid and fresh fruit trifle. The wine list is extensive and a little pricey, but the house wine by the glass was very good (Lindeman). Had not been to the restaurant since under new management & refurbished interiors to classify it as one of the East's best inns. Will be back soon for the food and ambiance!!5/31/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat CombinationEven without the good weather, it was a perfect occasion. Fabulous food, wonderful srvice, friendle staff, Can't wait to go back!!5/26/2013 12:00:00 AMThis was our second visitThis was our second visit to the Comus Inn. The last one was in November so there was no view as it was dark. We were hoping to get a nice view of the mountains this time, but unfortunately, they had a wedding scheduled so we had a very good view of a white tent. I will be sure to ask about Weddings next time. Other than an obstructed view, the food and service were wonderful. . Our waitress was very helpful in checking out items to support a gluten intolerance and the Chef was willing to adjust some entrees, but it wasn't necessary. The Lump Crab Salad was very good with a unique flavor mix. The Filet Mignons were delicious and were served as ordered. We will definitely visit again.5/26/2013 12:00:00 AMI've visited the Comus InnI've visited the Comus Inn before. On this visit I tried the waffle served with berries and maple pecan butter. The waffle was light and fluffy and the maple pecan butter added a touch of sweetness and crunchiness to the waffle. The service is professional and polite. The ambience and view is relaxing. Definitely worth the drive.5/26/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat place for an amazing dinnerOverall it was an awesome place. The only down size was that they didn't have the first wine that I selected. Their wine list is not extensive. But what they had was good. I will go back!5/25/2013 12:00:00 AMBut Never on Friday, Saturday or ..The view is one major Comus Inn attraction. When I walked into the dining room I saw a tent covering most of the windows in the dining area. Fortunately, we were seated so that we could see Sugarloaf unimpeded, but not the broader Western vista. There are wedding receptions occurring Friday thru Sunday and the tent regularly get set up on Friday mornings and taken down on Monday mornings.
So, how about the food? It was good. The menu is relatively short, but a fine range of choices. My wife had a delicious rockfish and I had a pretty good crab cake (the competition is tough in the DC/Maryland area). The service was attentive. The wine list will fit most budgets without angst. I'll go there again, but never on ..........5/24/2013 12:00:00 AMCharmingThis is the second time we have visited for lunch. The view of Sugarloaf is spectacular and the dining areas are so lovely. The potato leek soup was amazing--I have never seen a soup so creamy. What's nice is that the entrees are always changing so you always have something new to try. The staff are warm and friendly and the service is first rate. I am looking forward to trying their dinner menu soon.5/18/2013 12:00:00 AMLovely Dinner with a ViewThe ambiance at the Comus Inn is one of elegance and warmth, partnered with a breathtaking sunset view of Sugarloaf Mountain and excellent service. The food is outstanding, with very complex and distinguished food and wine selections usually only found in the best of restaurants. The crab soup, hush puppies and rib eye w/blue cheese sauce and truffle fries were phenomenal; also the Cornish game hen with a fig BBQ glaze and corn pudding. The manager came to check on us a few times, just to make sure we were enjoying our visit. I've lived in the area for a long time, and had never eaten here....we will be back! None of us had room for dessert, but the selection looked SO tempting that I will definitely leave room next time!5/16/2013 12:00:00 AMPerfect Mothers Day BrunchI couldn't have picked a better restaurant for brunch that was delicious with great scenery. The food was well done. The restaurant is small enough that the buffet brunch was all fresh and tasty. Highly recommended. Kids did well. Very comfortable but nice.5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent Brunch place!!We went here for Mother's Day Brunch, and it was well worth it. The drive up to this place is very nice, and the Inn itself is very well setup. The food was really quite good. The Omelette's and Eggs Benedict were excellent, as were the fish dishes. The only one dish at the buffet that wasn't as good was the chicken - too dry. The breakfast dishes like bacon and sausages were excellent as well.
The deserts at this brunch were fantastic. The have a pastry-chef and make their own desserts, and it shows!!5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMA country inn convenient to cityIf you want to get away from the city go to Comus Inn - fantastic veiw of Sugar Loaf Mountain especially at sunset - drive through rolling hills to get there. Food has improved since we were there last - less country and more city.
Charming - we were there the night before Mother's Day - many are taking their moms there - perfect venue for special occasion5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMWonderful Evening at the Comus InnI had always wanted to go to the Comus Inn and to be honest I had heard mixed reviews about it from friends. Our evening there however could not have been any better. Our waitress was great and friendly. Our food was extremely good. The view looking at Sugarloaf Mountain was perfect. It was a very romantic evening with my wonderful wife as we enjoyed each others company and just talked about life. We had bought a voucher from Amazon for the Comus Inn and that is what prompted us to go. Well worth it. We will definitely be back again!5/9/2013 12:00:00 AMDeliciousFine dining, but without the hassle and stuffiness of Bethesda or downtown. Real chef, seasonal food. Highly recommended.5/1/2013 12:00:00 AMReturn customerLovely view of Sugarloaf Mountain and quaint barn from the back room. Attentive but not intrusive service. Good variety of entrees with creative side dishes. Ifelt the prices were a bit high, though the servings were large so leftovers are possible on some dishes. Excellent restaurant for special occasions.4/27/2013 12:00:00 AMWe were pleased with the attentivenWe were pleased with the attentiveness of the Maitre, the server and the owner. Great choice for those planning to hike Nearby Sugarloaf Mountain. There's a winery close by, too!4/21/2013 12:00:00 AMWe ordered the filet mignonWe ordered the filet mignon and the salmon, and both were prepared extremely well. We were also able to find some of our favorite wines on the wine list. We were in a room with only 4 tables, which made a warm, intimate environment. The windows on the back of the building provided a stunning view of the sunset over Sugarloaf Mountain.4/20/2013 12:00:00 AMRustic-like scenery with good foodA hidden gem... Visiting the area? A must o stop and eat before starting your day. The view is wonderful, you could see Sugarloaf mountain in front of you fom a short distance. Food were wonderful. We came when it opened at 11 am. The service was impeccable. Our waitperson was friendly and easy-going. Will definitely come again. Cute quaint place with such breathtaking view. A nice short scenic route from 270 as well :)4/14/2013 12:00:00 AMThe meals are delicious butThe meals are delicious but are over-priced. We go out 2-3 times a week. We go to restaurants like Longhorn-good food for the value. We do NOT go to fast food restaurants. Comus Inn is not the kind of restaurant that we go to on a regular basis because of the prices. I wish that they would lower their prices (and keep the quality) because we would go more frequently.4/11/2013 12:00:00 AMFood was delicious and viewsFood was delicious and views were amazing. The restaurant's ambiance had a nice country chic charm about it. Menu is always changing so even more reason to keep coming back!4/10/2013 12:00:00 AMElectric menu I had ShrimpElectric menu I had Shrimp Gumbo and my husband had steak with a French touch.( Excellent) Must order is the crab and avocado salad the chef split it for us. The crab cake BLT and chocolate torte were excellent! The Maitre d' warned us that our scenic view would be obscured by a tent pavilion that was up for a wedding that evening. The service was good all around. And the spring weather was very nice at nearby Sugarloaf Mountain!4/6/2013 12:00:00 AMWe've been to this restaurantWe've been to this restaurant at least a half dozen times over the years, and generally love it, but the service was very slow, though friendly. They hold wedding parties there, and it seems that the other diners get the short shrift. Will surely return, but with some trepidations. Very good food, setting and ambiance.4/6/2013 12:00:00 AMDelightful surpriseWe weren't sure what to expect, but we were pleasantly surprised with our dining experience. Extremely informative and friendly. The fries were delicious for starters. The salmon was cooked to perfection and quite tasty. Definitely try their apple bread pudding.
