"Overall, for our first visit it was very good. The bartender was very entertaining to talk with before we were seated. Our waitress, however was a bit like a cranky school teacher. Not enough to ruin our evening though. Each course was delicious until dessert. The definitely tasted like they were made days in advance. Pecans on pecan ball were stale and scattered with bits of shell. The Cosmo pannecotta was very dry and firm. We barely touched them but our waitress never asked if anything was wrong with them like with our previous courses. We will definitely return. We just won't have dessert."

"Our experience at the Common Plea is usually very good. Food is always good. However, on Saturday night our waiter got the orders wrong with the table next to us and my husbands order. THe people next to us ordered the sea bass special but received the flounder on the menu. My husband ordered the duo veal special (two different prepared veals) but received some other veal dish which he ate because he didn't want to make a fuss but he really didn't like it. The waiter never really insisted on taking anything back to be corrected."

"Valentines day is usually a challenge for many restaurants but the Common Plea did it quite well with a special menu that was imaginative and enjoyable. Our food and drinks were served promptly, we were seated at the reserved time and our evening was satisfying."

"The Common Plea is one of the hidden dining gems of downtown Pittsburgh. For those that have dined in New York City, The Common Plea offers that familiar intimate first class experience. You are warmly greeted as you enter by the staff whether it is the hostess or Rich the bartender. What to wear, anything from business casual to suits and dresses. Diners come to enjoy the uniquely prepared and enjoyable selections amongst the wood decor. For a couple's night out you hit a home run here. And there is plenty of room for a group of friends to have a great time. Certainly book a reservation, but try to arrive 45 minutes early to enjoy a drink at the bar to warm up to a wonderful dining event."

"My guest and I enjoyed an outstanding lunch at The Common Plea today. She had the Seafood Trio and loved it! I had the Crab Cake Devonshire and it was unbelievably good. The food here is pricey, so I defintely wouldn't go for anything other than a special occassion, but you don't mind paying a bit more if you get great food."
