  • "Once again we had a fabulous evening at The Clinton House! We went seafood for our menu and came away very pleased. Clams Casino and Mussels Marinara were gastric wonders as appetizers. Both of us had the Seafood Newburg - Yumm! The atmosphere was relaxing with a perfect quiet atmosphere for enjoying ourselves."

  • "Party of 5 including some from out of time. Wide menu selection - good quality and quantity Good atmosphere and although about 75% full on a Tuesday evening we could have our own conversation comfortably"

  • "Great find in Clinton, New Jersey. Food was delicious. I'm vegetarian, and although the menu does not have many vegetarian options, the restaurant was happy to make adjustments and create a new dish. Service was wonderful. Warm ambience. And an impressive wine list. Definitely check it out!"

  • "Beef Wellington was not cooked as ordered (medium came out rare) , and when trying to fix it, it became well done. We did order a different meal in place of it, and they were very apologetic. They treated us well and all the food was very good. Mistakes happen, and we will come back."

  • "When I come here I love the snapper turtle soup which is one of the regular recipes on the menu. I find their lunch specials very good in quality as well as value. In this case it was the liver and bacon. The wine list is well-suited to the food. If not large it offers a nice variety at some attractive prices. I had a couple of glasses of a pinot grigio; often I have had ales. Service is usually pretty good. Today, I had to interrupt a lengthy conerversation between my waitress and a couple about cancer treatment in order to get her attention for more wine. The food is not really sophiticated, but I have always found it dependable when dining alone or with others. As a country inn would go, I would say a solid 4 stars all round."

  • "Love the food and service! If you want quiet it's best to avoid the bar area. I had the seafood Newberg which was out of this world delicious! Prime rib is also heavenly."

  • "Great food that is consistently good. We go there once a month and have never been disappointed. Very nice ambience, friendly people at the desk where one enters, respectful service, quiet and perfect for us...two childhood best friends who now live 5 hours away from each other and meet half way to catch up."

  • "The Clinton House was a very nice resturant. The staff was helpful and friendly, recommending wine and food selections that were "right on". Our waitress even offered to take a group photo, when she saw our struggle to take one. The food was very good. I especially enjoyed my salad with the house dressing. The atmosphere was cozy with the fireplaces going and the colonial decor. Because of it's local popularity, parking was a bit of a problem. All in all, I would highly recommend this restaurant in the charming town of Clinton."

  • "We celebrated a special friend's 95th birthday with a fabulous dinner at the Clinton House. We enjoyed clams on the half shell and clams casino for appetizers and duck, beef wellington and veal parm for entrees and tiramisu and tartufo for dessert. The ambience is wonderful (historic) and the service was excellent. Can't wait to return for another special occasion!!!"

  • "Very nice selection of steaks and chops, and an especially good Beef Wellington which you never see on menus anymore. I think the rest of the menu items are so-so, but if you are looking for a nice meat dish, this is the place for you."

  • "from the minute you enter, you are made to feel like an old friend.....no matter how long it's been since the last visit, you're welcomed with open arms....it was only the horrible weather that made the visits more "spread out" than usual...."

  • "This is what a good restaurant used to be but some of us have moved on and find it difficult to revisit the past. But this is still Hunterdon County, a region of New Jersey just far enough from 2 great cities to not be influenced by them. So if you hanker for a slab of passable roast beef, a stuffed filet of flounder, nothing with ingredients you might find hard to pronounce, this may be a great choice. A nice night out in a lovely little town. I need more from a restaurant at whatever price ( and it's not cheap) but recognize that there is a place for nostalgia."

  • "The Clinton House is still one of the best in the area for food and ambiance. Price for the value is reasonable. Service was very good and attentive. Special menu for the evening was varied and excellent. It does get a bit noisy when the bar area is full."

  • "Host was amazing, server Cheryl lead the evening with her steller service and personal touch and bar staff completed the evening with real class. It made for a really perfect choice and memory. Thank you."

  • "Generally the service is very good. However, I had to go ask for forks. The veal was only fair, the worst I've had there. My husband ordered coffee and apple pie a la mode. He did receive the pie, but he was finished by the time he finally got the coffee, and he had to ask someone to get him the coffee. The server simply forgot."

  • "My husband and I went here to celebrate my birthday. It was our first time and we hope to return. The waitress was cordial and took our drink order--drinks were reasonably priced. She honored our request for more time to order. She brought out bread straight from the oven, which tasted great. The fireplace was glowing and felt and looked good on this freezing cold January night. We started our meal with soup. We both ordered specials--swordfish and veal chop. Portion size was generous and sides were included as well as a house salad. All the food was well prepared. It was easy to carry on a conversation since the room's acoustics absorbed the surrounding sounds. I would recommend this restaurant to friends without reserve."

  • "this was for a postponed holiday lunch for my team from work. We were seated promptly and got our drinks quickly. Although there for lunch, our meals were all equivalent to a dinner and reasonably priced. Will plan other events there in the future."

  • "I have been going to the Clinton House for years. It is the go-to for my wife and I if we are by ourselves or meeting friends. We do not go out often, but when we do, it is to the CH because the food and service are always consistently good. If you can get a seat by the fireplace, it just makes it all the better. I usually have a steak or a special and am NEVER disappointed. Sauerbraten is OUTSTANDING! Unfortunately, it's a 'special' (you can get added to an email list and informed when they have it and others). In short, you simply cannot go wrong with the the Clinton House."

  • "Some years ago when a number of us went separate ways from out workplace, we agreed to get together regularly for dinner with our wives to keep our relationships alive. We had not seen each other for some months and decided to return to the first place that we had dinner when we made the "pact" - the Clinton House. It was great then and did not disappoint on our return. We asked for and got a large table in a backroom area where we could talk and enjoy ourselves. The food was - as remembered - first class and the service excellent."

  • "The Clinton House is more than two hundred years old but is in prime condition. The ambiance is American colonial and is so great! Excellent food. Excellent service. The town of Clinton is a superb town to visit and wander about. There is the gorgeous waterfall and the ancient cast iron bridge and the museums and the quaint shops. The Clinton House is a MUST!"

  • "First time we've eaten there, was a half-way meeting point between us and friends from Summit NJ (we from west of Allentown PA). Ordered from specials, generally pleased with result. Got great guidance from server, as we appreciate local/organic/natural (some done there at Clinton House). A little noisy, but it was full on a Saturday night, and we probably contributed as we are two couples who haven't seen each other for a while. Price-Value OK, and we probably will meet again as there doesn't seem to be much else of similar quality in the 10-20 mile range near or along I-78 from the Delaware River to the 278 split."

  • "One of my all-time favorites is the Clinton House, located in the heart of historic Clinton, Hunterdon County, New Jersey. The owners of the restaurant are always the most accommodating and congenial. The waitresses are knowledgeable and attentive. The cuisine is simply the best, especially if you like a stout, hearty beef dinner, and exceptional desserts. They even stock my favorite Irish whiskey, Tullamore Dew. Consistently a memorable dinning experience."

  • "My whole dept. goes to the Clinton House every year for our Christmas Lunch and always leave very satisfied. Quite a few of us ordered the Crab Au Gratin and it was out of this world! We stopped at the bakery on our way out and took some desserts to go. I was disappointed there wasn't any cannoli's available but I got the chocolate hazelnut cake and it was delicious."

  • "I took my friend to The Clinton House for his 80th birthday. The staff treated him like a king, wishing him a Happy Birthday as we were seated and ending our evening with a piece of cheesecake and a chorus of "Happy Birthday". Our meals were delicious (we both had the NY Strip Steak special) Our server (Sarah) was excellent. The restaurant was beautifully decorated for the holidays. Our evening was wonderful."
